They have clothing that is really that looks like it's used to blend in with their surroundings (Colours, lilly pads), so maybe they were trying to hide from something/scout on something? It's possible that they were trying to watch what the witch was doing and because they were scouts, it would make sense that they won't have houses.

Zombie Villagers still spawn with purple robes, the game might be worried that you'd cure it but they didn't make the robes for the cured villagers

You can technically get a swamp villager or a jungle villager in survival. I saw this on survival world where a village spawned in 2 different biomes. Villagers who spawned in cold biome wore cold biome clothes, and the villagers who spawned on hills biome wore normal villager clothes. So if you find a village spawn near a swamp biome you could get these villagers

What we really need are more variant village : Mesa (Badlands) Biome villagers in terracotta houses either raw or glazed terracotta, ocean monument ruin themed houses, just on a small island or something, ancient city villages, just near the city in the deep dark, and warped villages, next to ender man or Crimson. Mojang should really expand this stuff, they did it with the pillager raids, and modifying how villagers behave with job objects (ex: lectern, compost, etc.) It would really make the game that much more cooler.

The witch was outlawed and banished by the swamp villagers... Thats why she wears the purple robe. And they run away from her when you spawn them together and she hurls potions at them so yeah, they're just regular villagers that are biome-specific.

The witches got kicked out of their village because of making potions that would probably kill the little ones including other villagers. The witches were very too dangerous. They had to kick them out, take their houses and have them leave. The villagers were hostile after that, thinking that we ourselves were a villager to killing us, or attempting to.

They live in a plains village the spawns in a plains biome next to a swamp biom, if the house in in the swamp but its a plains village then it'll spawn a seamp villager
