Basically, you find out the area of the circle (x2 because there are two circles) then to find out the area of the rectangle… you should be given the height of the cylinder, which would be the height(width/bridth) of your rectangle. The reason the length of your rectangle is the formula 2 x pi x r is because we are finding the perimeter of the circle, because that rectangle wraps around the circles. Therefore they should be the same length as the circle perimeter. Overall formula TSA= 2 (Pi x r(squared )+ ((height x 2(2 x pi x r ))

It was my exam on maths In the exam the question was asked that what is the total surface of cylinder thus, this video very good explanation and it is correct

SA of each circle: (radius x radius) x 3.14 SA of middle rectangle: If you don’t know the measurements then all I can tell you is it is 3.14 x 3.14 x r to get the circumference which will be our length Then the height x the circumference = SA of the rectangle If you know the measurements of the diameter though, you can just divide the diameter into 2 to get the radius, then multiply the radius times 2, and then multiply that by pi.

The circumference of the circle was 2 pi r, and when the cylinder is cut, the circumference become the breadth. Therefore, circumference(2 pi r) = breadth of the rectangle. I know I'm late, sorry.
