You multiply the diameter (12m) by 3.14 (pi). Radius squared (r^2) would be used to find area.

If you want a lid on it just use the top formula. Surface Area = 2πrh + 2πr^2.

If you see in the vid, he says that the top does't count since he doesn't want a lid on the cylinder. So instead of 2pirh + 2pirsqrt, it will be just 2pirh + pirsqurt

Ok, let me ask you, where did he go wrong in the equation? He stated at the beginning that the cylinder had a open lid, which means we don't count the 2 of the equation, 2 pi R squared, which leaves us with only pi R squared, the rest can be done on calculator. If I am wrong, please point it out, because I'd like to know. Edit: The 2 would stand for the two lids of the cylinder.
