    2 months on medium, almost 1 month in the Medium Partner Program, 230+ followers, 150+€ earned so far, and I think I have you to thank for my start. I discovered Medium thanks to your videos, and so far it's been a lot of fun. Thank you Zulie!

    They should hire you! I love that you made the subtle, albeit powerful distinction between why people read our work on Medium vs. driving ad traffic on other sites. It’s that distinction that keeps me on the platform writing, knowing I might have a pretty niche following, but they truly care about the content I create. ❤️ Great video, thank you!

    I'd love to see a video on the recent update to the partner program going into effect come August. I saw that you were mentioned in that article, too! The one where they talk about that and Boost. ♡ Please make a video about all that? I'm a writer on Medium but took a break upon entering college (1st year done now, going for a BA). I plan on getting back into it soon, especially after this recent change. I'm excited~☆ Thank you!

    It’s funny, I discovered your channel because for some reason it came while I was looking up video about publishing on KDP, but I checked out Medium this morning and started an account. It seems like a good platform for some light reading and light writing. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

    Hello Zulie, My working life roughly splits into decades: First, I was a Junior Software Developer at college and in my first job, then I became a Senior Developer before getting promoted to IT Manager. 10 years ago, I took my career on a tangent and set-up an IT training business. I'm now about to sell that business to go travelling. I would love to write about the long journeys I have planned and friends have said they would like to read about my adventures. The catch is that I don't know how to write in an engaging way. My writing skills come from coding, producing instructions manuals and help sheets. So, as much as I enjoy watching your videos on how to use various blog platforms, it would be great to hear how you have developed such an engaging writing style.

    Overall pretty good insights but let's not forget that above all those tips you have to learn about content marketing, copywriting, storytelling etc. Just writing "good stories" won't get you anywhere.

    @Chris Webb haven't really heard of anyone who would write "bad stories" hoping to go viral. Additionally, a good story that doesn't meet the requirements I mentioned might very well not perform well on medium, making the "good story" label completely arbitrary, if one doesn't mention the marketing aspect.

    Once you join the MPP, I think you can put all your stories behind the paywall, even if you wrote them before you joined the MPP. Here's how to do that retrospectively: help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/115011928308-Make-a-story-eligible-to-earn-money Hope that helps!

    Is medium a good platform for short horror and sci-fi stories or would you recommend another platform for this type of writing? Can we also share our short stories or posts anywhere else at the same time? Such as self publishing short stories on KDP or posting the same article on our own website etc. thank you.

    Any type of genre is great for Medium. And while it's true that Medium tends to be more focused on non-fiction, they've made great steps recently to encourage and promote more fiction writing. They even boost fiction stories. If you search this list, you'll find that many of the publications support fiction: medium.com/blog/meet-60-publishers-in-the-boost-nomination-pilot-bb4923442864 And yes, you can absolutely republish articles on other sites (unless the publication wishes otherwise). If you originally post on your own website, I'd recommend using the canonical link tool on Medium. More info here: help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033930293-Set-a-canonical-link Hope that helps!

    Hello Zulie. I live in Ghana. Is there any way I can get on the Medium partnership program. Interestingly I have made the needed 5$ payment to be able to read content.

  • @ZulieWrites

    @ZulieWrites

    10 ай бұрын

    Unfortunately, as far as I know, Medium doesn't pay any writers from Ghana at this moment (you can find the country list here: help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/115011694187-Getting-started-with-the-Partner-Program). I know this sucks and it's really unfair. BUT! They recently announced that, by the end of the year, they'll approve 50 additional countries! Besides, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from writing on Medium right now. You can totally sign up, start writing, build a portfolio and start getting followers now because a) there are other ways to earn money, like driving people to your own blog, using affiliate links and so on and b) it's clear that Medium/Stripe will monetize for additional countries soon. If you start now, you'll be established on Medium when that happens. Hope that makes sense and sorry I can't help more. I am always trying to find a workaround as it affects a lot of people, and I really believe that everyone deserves to be compensated for their writing, but as of yet, I have not found any good workarounds. As I've mentioned above, there are a few ways to earn money indirectly on Medium. I made a video on this that you can check out here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4JtuLt-ns_fj6w.html

    Hi Zulie, can I make a request/suggestion for a video please? I noticed the other day that you can customise the URLs for articles. The default is the publication name, article title with words separated by hyphens, plus a string of random looking letters and numbers. On my WordPress site I use article titles with words separated by hyphens, which obviously is search engine friendly. Do you think I should edit Medium URLs to get rid of the letters and numbers at the end? Or maybe something else?

    Did Indians can use medium? And should we pay amount to post story in medium?

  • @ZulieWrites

    @ZulieWrites

    8 ай бұрын

    People who live in India can use Medium but unfortunately, regrettably, they can't use the partner program YET. (You can find the current eligible countries here: help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/115011694187-Partner-Program-Guide ). However, Medium already announced they're going to admit India and many other countries very soon. I know this sucks for the time being and I wish there was a way around this. But for now, at the very least, there are indirect ways to earn money on Medium. I made a video about that here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4JtuLt-ns_fj6w.html Hope that helps!

    I totally get how sad you must feel - writing something and being excluded from getting paid for it sucks! However, you can totally start writing on medium, build a portfolio and start getting followers now. You won't be paid by Medium directly YET, and I know that sucks and is unfair and I really hope Medium/Stripe change their policy soon, but a) there are other ways to earn money, like driving people to your own blog, using affiliate links and so on and b) eventually, I hope, Medium/Stripe will monetize for additional countries. If that's the case, you'll be established on Medium when that happens. Hope that makes sense and sorry I can't help more. Here's a video that might help: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4JtuLt-ns_fj6w.html

    That part where you say (and others) explain how much a writer earns per view doesn't really make sense. We get told exactly how much we have earned for the month every 48 hours... How can Medium calculate how much of a readers membership will go to the writer? They don't know until the end of the month whether that reader has read only one story or many! It would only make sense if our daily Partner Program stats were estimates only and the correct figures will be shown at the end of the month. I don't believe that's the case... if it was, there would be many pissed off writers come pay day! (If they got less than what was was initially reported that is). Now writers can also get paid more for followers who engage with our stories. I would love to be clearer on where this money comes from (who is Partnering with Medium exactly? Just Stripe?) Does all money earned on the platform depend on Memberships? There's no adsense. I guess Medium also gets paid for external SEO traffic? I'm only 7 days in to my partner program earnings. So far so good! 😁

  • @ZulieWrites

    @ZulieWrites

    Great question. I also don't know how they do it exactly, but the earnings never suddenly change at the end of the month, so I'm assuming Medium always calculates the earnings based on data they already have (from the previous month). And if there's a new member, they probably run estimates, embracing that it won't be 100% accurate.

    It is not fair and disappointing to only have the partner program as the only way of paying authors. Meduim authors should be encouraged world wide nit only 46 countries ! What's wrong with PayPal and/or credit cards!!! I'm not talking here about making a living, I'm talking about a reward that is limited to authors is specific georgraphic location!!!!!!!!!!!!
