Ask your professors in your institute they can better guide you...you are studying in good institute with good branch....you can easily crack

Ofc the better you start early, the more you get the results… I am a 3rd year student but what I suggest is start your research about what subjects you will have to study and what things you will go through. As of now you can start with mathematics and General aptitude as your core subjects will start from the 2nd year It’s very good that you have set a goal to crack this prestigious exams like Gate but for now start developing interest in your respective field and explore more, enjoy your college life and be focused 🥰

You can do mtech(in cse) in iits but you have to give gate cse

Bro....NIT JSR is great ...Many of my friends are studying there, what I have heard is tht most of them get placed in Tata Steel and Jindal steel with a good package
