If you’re 22, and earning Rs75000 a month, you have zero expenses, especially in a company like Indian Oil, Which will assuredly provide almost everything to you for living. Supposed you invested Rs50000 every month in a good mutual fund, and just left it be, you’d have a corpus of over 1 crore left over by the end of 6 years. You are right. In PSUs you have to work within certain guidelines , rules & regulation. The job is quite boring. Now-a- days , salary & perks are quite good. Otherwise job is non- challenging & you do the same thing throughout your life even though you grow in ranks.

I jst wanna say anyone wanting to join PSU please speak to your inner self and ask yourself whether the PSU jobs is your dream job or it's salary. I myself have been through that phase and realised late after being posted for 4 years in remote location of Dimapur for BPCL . It was a very monotonous job and more importantly it's experience will not be of any worth in future atleast in my opinion. An engineering degree is not compulsory for the job description rather u end up doing things related to tendering , purchase related petty thing, filling safety , quality, environment related file and then again updating the same in SAP system which make no sense it's just a waste of time. Anyone who introduced the same I feel pity on him. What is the use of such practices if this practice cannot avoid or minimize any hazard or industrial accident. When I was in Dimapur I had 2 more friends in PSU one in PGCIL and one in IOCL . Currently all of us have resigned. Only join PSU if you are in position to support family and same kind of responsibilities, remember the time i.e the age phase u are working is your golden period to give a track to your goal or any achievements. I have met many talented senior who are just stuck in that unproductive and toxic community who don't have any far sighted vision just coz they realise late.

Nice. You have given an insight into two different worlds. If one wants job security then PSU is ok. But if you join PSU, then you will NEVER, NEVER, EVER (with a miniscule exception) be able to change jobs. The more time you spend in a PSU, the more your job experience counts for nothing. @@guzzler6584 There are 2 parts to a job. One is intellectual satisfaction and the other is monetary satisfaction. If you thick skinned and keep your head low then OMC salary is extremely good. Life of Sales Officers and Depot officers (Operations) is pathetic. However, on the opposite, the life of officers doing office job at State level offices or HQO is heaven. Remember, both the officers here can be of the same grade. The non-line jobs, like HR or Legal which have nothing to do with oil selling, are the best. As an engineer, you learn NOTHING. If you do not have a contact in a private company to push your biodata, you will NEVER get another job. People without proper qualifications and suffering from job insecurity will always ump for these jobs. But India has changed and these companies have not, despite slick lectures in the investor meets. Without Govt. backing of these companies, these employees are nothing.

It means psus consider only current year's gate scorecard for their recruitment like for 2022 recruitment they will only consider gate 2022 scorecard. gate 2021 scorecard holders wont be eligible even though gate 2021 scorecard is valid in 2022 and that can be used for mtech admission in iits Few exceptions are drdo, barc,npcil, they also consider prev. Gate score

Sir, I have done btech from Marine engineering. So i would like to ask if I appear for gate exam through marine engineering. Will I be considered for job opportunities in PSUs like iocl or gail etc? That's little confusing as I have searched through internet and i couldn't find anything solid. Besides there is gate exam in marine engineering and naval architecture but as of now I couldn't find further scope for joining PSUs through this subject.
