To challenge growing muslim population. Hindus started child marriages. In ancient times of Indian civilization there was no child marriages. Siddharth (Gautam Buddha) & Vardhaman (Mahavir) were married at age of 24 & 25 respectively. In ayurveda & other indian religious scriptures, it is clearly mentioned that marriage age of man should be equal to or greater than 24 & for women it should be greater than 18.

For all the non-Indians watching this, I would like to give the good news that Barkha Dutt, one of the most 'prominent' journalists of India in 2016 has been kicked out of TV channels and is now surviving as a KZreadr.

It's so true, because every time anyone talks about anything bad that has to do with Islam, you'll ALWAYS get these "but what about" responses, as if that somehow nullifies or justifies the bad things in Islam. You'll hear, "but but but, what about the Bible and Christianity? Mary was age 12 when she gave birth to Jesus", or "But but what about King Henry who had a wife who was age 13? Why don't you talk about that? Yeah, talk about them instead!" As opposed to "that's a good point about x, y, or z. I'll explain the reason for this...". You rarely hear someone talking about, for example, baseball, and have someone chime in and say, "But what about basketball?! In basketball they also...". It almost ALWAYS happens when discussion Islam and religion and it's an elementary way of "arguing".

Because this life is temporary not eternal. This life is kept as test for another life.if you believe in logic and rational thinking then think why there is no equality amoung all human beings on this planet in terms of misery, domination of evil over good etc ,etc.if world is an eternal place then there world be no so many world wars and conflicts. Let me correct sister Ayan. She should not mix up his personal atrocities she faced and personal views of shariya by some king or cleric implemented in Saudi Arabia or Iran. It is not shariya. It is their personal mixed ideas choosing islamic basic tenets for their personal gain. Driving in Islam by a woman is not forbidden but in Saudi if it is implemented it is totally their personal view and Islam has not to take form this views. Hadith that Ayan quotes about the Aisha marriage with prophet Mohammed at the age of 6 is totally false, Aisha's marriage age was 18, stayed in her paternal house till the age of 21 or 22 (as it was the custome) and then went to Prophet's house. The version of hadith u say is weak and interpolation in sahih Hadith. Think Qoran says that at the proper age you should marry ur child, a general guideline. After the puberty age(that is 14 or 15) a girl is entitle to do marriage. How it is possible that a PROPHET who has given so many better things to humanity, and inspired million and million people ; can think like this. misogyny is wrong and Islam not teaches it but hatred with Islam or with any religion is wrong as misogyny is which Ayan has in plenty especially with Islam. See the life of Mohammad pbuh and treatment with his wives, u will find many good things too but here u r not ready to hear because of hatred and lobby for which u work and unmindfully propagate. U talk about reform u can't do this untill u see the things in right perspective. Negativity will only lead u towards the abyss. And your idea of reformation will find no taker. Keeping hatred for any community or religion u can't lead them towards green pastures of reformation.

Muslim must take their education seriously, political plateform must b created or established muslim party must b favoured, zakat money must b reorganised, muslim economy must b uplifted. Only then we would b able to counter these antagonist of islam. Thanks to those who at least raising their voice against these biased people. It is also an international conspiracy to malign islam. Burkha dutt has rightly conducted this programme. Many more people should come forward to expose them and support those people who is countering them in logical ways.

.... it seems to me that this "debate" was more about.."lets all have a pop at Ayaan Hirsi Ali".......but it backfired...because I think she stood out as superior to all of them.....

Barkha needs to understand the difference between societal customs and Religious doctrines ... child marriage used to be a part of Indian society not some Hindu / Indic doctrine . Hence the govt could nullify it with counter laws . When such an act becomes part of a religious doctrine like sharia you can't negate it unless a significant representation from that community demands for it , like the abolition of *triple talaq* . Secondly I see people in the comment talking about "Sati Pratha" well lemme ask you one question , have you , your mother , grandmother , her grandmother have witnessed "Sati Pratha" with her own eyes ?? The only place where we have witnessed it is through books written by some white man peddled by a dynasty who's sole intention was to rule . It might have happened in some part of India but saying that it was prevalent throughout India is absolutely nonsensical , bcoz no one has any rigid proof.

Barkha Dutt says to Ayaan " Why are you picking only on Islam ?" Isn't the topic " What is the future for women in Islam" ?🙄

In ancient times of Indian civilization there was no child marriages. Siddharth (Gautam Buddha) & Vardhaman (Mahavir) were married at age of 24 & 25 respectively. In ayurveda & other Indian religious scriptures it is clearly mentioned that marriage age of man should be equal to or greater than 24 & for women it should be greater than 18. In this interview zhahara langi says sharia is dynamic law. It changes with time. If sharia is dynamic then why muslim say it God's law. If sharia law is so dynamic then why muslim in India are against uniform civil code. Islamic countries behead one who leaves islam.
