The true form of Islam is to act kind. Most moslems forget about a word 'Akhlak' that means good attitude. This.. is, actually, the main Mohammad message. But, many of them seems to forgetting it and too focused on sins/worship issues. And not about social relationship between individuals. Islam, even in it's communal form, actually very individual based religion. I mean, you need to fix yourself first before looking outside. Judging, prejudice, and in this case... Feeling 'holier' than others is also a sin.

Why do muslims keep assuming their religion existed before Christianity 😂 This liar sneaked it in at 46:00 and then covered it by other issues which is often their Dawah tactics when debating for their religion of lies.
I respect the fact that when Hitchens knew he was on borrowed time, he used it to make as many public appearances as possible within the limits of his health to voice his opposition to religious fanaticism, instead of just resting and spending time with his family and friends. I'm going to say some things and I will elaborate on each that anyone wants more information on. Although there were many Muslim countries, none were Islamic states. There is misunderstanding on the meaning of sharia, it is not Islamic law. Sharia is a metaphorical description that encompasses how a Muslim should live their lives. Muslims are okay with western laws, until in stops us from expressing our faith and love of God The Quran was not a comprehensive book. Similarly in physics, in Islamic theology it's as if the content is purposefully incomplete. It is implied that although there is a good path, the Quran doesn't touch on why's, how's and what's about the stuff it says. @@saadidrissi3181 Firstly, Sharia literally means the straightest path to a source of fresh water. It is metaphorical for 'the way one should live their life'. And there is no agreed upon Sharia, the way people use the word now. Secondly, I mentioned most muslims don't know enough about the history of the practitioners of Islam and about Islamic concepts in general. Therefore, using their opinions on law is not a indicator of the religion itself. Also contrary to the opinions of those muslims, Islamic scholars have a long tradition of legal pluralism. Meaning different laws apply to different groups in society. Christendom follows Christian law etc. until two groups are involved. I think many muslims might be more open with this idea if they knew about their history Lastly, I mentioned metaphorical basis', the Quran is not a scientific book of miracles. No muslim scholar of the Quran who does his work would believe that because that does not correlate with the reasoning for it being revealed

Perfect test. See if you can get you and a Muslim friend to both agree to post something on your own social media that criticizes key tenets of your respective religions.
1:13:48 that's a piss poor point from Tariq. For example, something like 75% of British Muslims believe that the Danish artist who drew a cartoon of the prophet Mohammed should be criminally prosecuted and over half of British Muslims believe that homosexuality should be outlawed. This is DESPITE the fact they are living in a completely different country with vastly different cultural values, yet they still hold these rather disturbing thoughts mostly true.

So you contest the argument by naming another source of war, namely the artificial boundaries that we draw on the ground and call national borders. That doesn't get religion off the accusation at all, and is irrelevant to it's defence. All you have done is introduce an additional culprit.

Hitchens thought he came to debate. Instead, it was a nice chit chat. Glad he was one of ours.
So, here we are in January 2022, and unfortunately Tariq Ramadan has been consistently proven wrong about everything.

Questions to antiomoral ideology of islam. 1) Can woman decide for herself, or her `caretaker` have deciding voice? 2) Can nonbeliever marry `muslim` woman? 3) How you should treat apostates from islam? 4) Why peace and freedom are in Islam synonyms to war and slavery(subjugation)? 5) How doas afterlife differs, depending on you being islamist/nonislamist man/woman or ... yourself up and becoming martyr? 6) Why women have to wear these bags, maybe islamist should just po.. their eyes, that will have multiple pros, like they will be unable to k!ll anybody, or it will be much harder?

Hitch had one of the most important and impressive minds! He, to this day so important to study and listen to! He knew the likelihood of in what happened to Israel, the utter folly of our educational institutions, and the incredible risk of our freedoms in the western world!

First look at the extremists in your own environment/country
from wikipedia: In November 2017, Tariq Ramadan took leave of absence from Oxford to contest allegations of rape and sexual misconduct.[10] The university's statement noted that an "agreed leave of absence implies no acceptance or presumption of guilt".[4] In February 2018, he was formally charged with raping two women: a disabled woman in 2009 and a feminist activist in 2012.[11][12] In September 2019, the French authorities expanded the investigation against Ramadan, already charged with raping two women, to include evidence from two more alleged victims.[13] On 5 December 2019, a Swiss woman who had accused him of rape in 2018, launched a new case against him for slander. The charges have not come to a full conclusion yet,[14] but he was acquitted of one charge in May 2023.[15] In February 2020, Ramadan was formally charged with raping two more women[16] and in October 2020, Ramadan was formally charged with raping a fifth woman.[17]

He is literally following the footsteps of his prophet. A true Muslim.
It's pretty simple....if the scripture asks it's followers to commit acts of violence, justifies them or condones them, or, if it's prophets set a violent example, the religion is violent. If the religion denounces violence and it's prophets do not set a violent example, the religion is not violent. What the followers of the religion do despite it's teachings have no bearing on the answer to the question.
On one side you have a highly intellectual person stating complete truth. On the other side you have Tariq Ramadan.

wonder if Hitchens who claims to have studied Islam, does he know that Allah in the Qur’an hates and condemns sectarianism, division and tribalism among the Muslim Ummah? Does He know the prophetic tradition of prophet Muhammad condemns, fanatics, extremists and sectarianism. Does he know that Allah and prophet Muhammad warns the Muslim ummah against dividing into sects and division? Does he know that Prophet Muhammad predicted exactly how many sects the Jews, Christians and Muslims would divide into after his death?

@jesperjee Do you realize how foolish you are to make assumptions about an entire subject matter that you for sure, have never even studied at all? I’ll give you just a few things to research on your own, because whatever I say won’t matter to people like you. 1. Prophet Muhammad performed over 100 documented miracles, that are recorded by multiple companions in Hadith that you can go and research. 3. Allah, in the Qur’an talks about how the human heart oxidizes. It gives the analog of rust that forms over metal for the heart oxidizing. Prophet Muhammad talks about this in prophetic Hadith as well. He said the human heart oxidizes and needs to be polished. His companions Asked him how do we do that? He responded through Remembrance of death, Remembrance of God and through prayer. Prophet Muhammad also said that the human heart is also a source of knowledge. 1400 years ago, no human being knew this. This is only known now through modern medicine science. 3. 1400 years ago prophet Muhammad said in the future towards the latter days interest/usury will become so widespread, that no one will be able to escape its dust. He also said towards the latter days of this world, there will be an over abundance of food and wealth. These is a uniquely specific prophecies, that have all come into fruition. 4. 1400 years ago he said, the barefoot Bedouin Arabs, will compete in building the tallest buildings. Just 50 years ago the Arabian peninsula was a barren desert. Now it has the tallest buildings on earth. He said the Arabian peninsula will puke its treasures. That entire region is oil and mineral rich, providing the wealth to build these tall buildings. He also said the Arabian desert will become green AGAIN! Making the proclamation that thousands of years before Muhammad, the desert was green and meadowlands, and will become green again. According to modern geography and geology, the Arabian peninsula used to be green millennia ago, is becoming green AGAIN! 5. Prophet Muhammad predicted in latter days, sexual promiscuity will become so widespread, that new diseases will come about that did not exist among their ancestors and people will begin to have sexual intercourse in public. All of this is true today. There are literally dozens more predictions and prophecies that he made that you can research. You can literally research entire subject matter and discipline of the linguistic, Scientific and numeric miracles of the Qur’an In Arabic. The study of the Qur’an in Qu’ranic Arabic, has become an entire discipline and field of academia in western universities, even here in America, to the point where many academics are becoming Muslims. One of the Worlds top cosmologists/Astrophysicists, Bruno Guiergedoni, studied background radiation from the edges of the universe. He viewed the universe as signs that need to be interpreted, which is Ironically exactly what the Qur’an and Islam teach. According to the Muslim ulammah of scholars, say each ayah in the Qur’an (which ayah is essentially Arabic for verse, but literally means SIGN) each ayah in the Qur’an has 3 or 4 layers of meaning and there are over 6500 ayah/verses in the Qur’an. Bruno, studied the Qur’an and became a Muslim. Now he teaches Islamic Kalam philosophy, Science and the Qur’an all over the world. You can see his lectures here on KZread!
