He is trying to point out the distinction between awareness and thought. The thinker has bought into the false premise of “I think therefore I am”. If we identify that we are no more than our thinking and our thoughts (the only instrument) then we are bound to suffer. However we are NOT our thinking or thoughts, we are the AWARENESS behind them, after all we are AWARE and we know when we are thinking and what thoughts we are thinking, we are the observer watching a movie but the ego have confused us into believing that we’re an actor or a participant in the movie. We are the awareness or the “I AM” behind them, that is the key to liberation!

You lost me here, Traveller. There is no objective 'I' - the ego-non-ego-contradiction - in the brain, nor are there such objective structures as 'me', 'self' or 'psyche'. They are simply not there, they don't exist. There is only thought, playing the trick of identification, that fools us. And because we are not aware of this illusion, that virtual ego and the rest of it - division, thus conflict - comes into being, manifesting itself through our behaviour in reality. The individual is the manifestation of the ego, that wrongly claims: "I think, so I am", with all its identities and consequenses. So who is the 'I', the 'we' that claims: "I am aware"? What is awereness? The thing it self? Actually 'being aware'? There is only one way to find out and that is: being aware... But there is no 'I', no cognitive movement involved in this.

The ego is the accumulation of thoughts and beliefs comprising one's sense of self but is an illusion. All egoic sensitivities can be observed. Therefore, none of them can actualize as anything more than transient and ephemeral experiences, witnessed from the non-transient, immovable, ever-present self. Even silence, emptiness... witnessing itself are phenomenal. What remains is what sees. Thou art that.

For all those who find it difficult to observe the me without a movement: You can observe your past. Just think about what you recently did and try to get some insight. Explore! If you want an insight that is different from your habits and conditioning, you need to look at the circumstances as if you were looking at a third person. What is (s)he doing? Is that correct? Can (s)he do it better? Choose a repetitive pattern to look at, because if you find out what you can do better, then you can do it better next time. If you got enough practice, you can start to observe the me as if it was s(he) at this very moment. An ideal way to learn to observe without a thought is to learn to observe the facts. Facts that have no room for thought.

How can an observer observe himself? Before this question, a question also arises that how do you know that "you", who is observing "himself" as an observer, is a true observer, is there anyone present to observe your observation?

As this is the only instrument we are born with and it is limited, we must find a way to transcend the limitation of thought. I suppose we must somehow have a kind of discernment between the limitation of thought and also the observer without thought. As this can be very difficult at the start and unpredictable, it is also possible. 😊

When one sees that thought itself is limited and thus cannot help solve its own conflicts, what next? Most likely when we truly realize this, all thoughts suddenly comes to a stop. Then in this silence, awareness rises and has a chance to bring about order in our lives.

In my experience thoughts go on. They sometimes can be silenced, but they will reappear. There is nothing one can do about it. Silence is in detachment of them. In other words: they go on automatically without any doership.

There is another instrument, which is the brain itself, having the complete capacity to be aware, when that capacity is not absorbed by any limited, egocentric thinking. Thought, however limited, is necessary for practicle reasons to function as human beings - but only then! - whereas divisive egocentric thinking limits our holistic functioning.

If the ego is, quote; " being created by thought" " thought which is limited", then from where did that ego enter thought for thought to suddenly think of ego. quote; " what is it" the ego. The ego is the tool that the form uses to reveal its presence to the brain. Because the form is not a concept, then that that is received into the brain by thought via the ego tool should be considered as form, physical form, because the form that formed the intelligent species initially can only be of a physical form whether you know how that physical form formed initially or not. It is not, ego, quote; "the product of thought" because thought cannot form a physical form, thought only uses a physical form tools within that physical form. Why is thought there, to attain knowledge, imprinted knowledge from the physical source that formed the intelligence species. We have come a long way of understanding since Krishnamurti who actually has missed the boat.
