What is the difference between a Communications degree and a Marketing degree?
Deciding between a communications degree and a marketing degree can be a touch decision. There are a lot of similarities between the degrees and both often lead to the same job opportunities.
On the outside these degrees seem to be the same. What makes them different is the emphasis they place on topics of culture, language and identity. These topics are important to both how humans interact with each other and how products are sold in the marketplace.

I have my bachelors in communications with a concentration in PR, and I was still chosen to intern at a marketing firm. The guy who was teaching me told me, yes, there are differences between marketing and communications/PR, BUT he said at the end of the day, a lot of it is all the same and blends in with one another. Marketing firms need PR and vise versa a lot of the time, again, depending on the company. I now work in marketing but I incorporate what I've learnt in college into my job every day.
I'm a Maori Samoan New Zealand Mum who just watched this from Australia, and it was so helpful. I've subscribed.
i'm a sophomore in highschool but they're already preparing us to find out what we want for uni and this was so helpful!! thank youuu
Your Communication videos have been super helpful, thank you!!
Very helpful actually! Gonna look more into communications! The only thing I worry about with gettinb a communications degree are my social skills and public speaking . I tend to enjoy working independently but writing and creative concepts are my strengths. English was always my best subject .

I'm now a senior student and I wanna follow professional comm in my future university. Although I have chosen it as my favourite major, I'm so bewildered that whether it will work me well and I'm still so confused about comm degree. But your video is so helpful and even makes me feel excited to do some research on communication, about those theories that you've mentioned. I am really into your positivity and how you convey in order these contents for a newbie like me. Please do more videos like this, I will wait for them ^^ Thank you so muchhhhhhh
Thanks a lot for your presentation. It was super helpful 💓. I was still doubting if I made the right choice of my master's in communication. Coming across this presentation with you outlining the differences between communication and marketing just confirmed my choice . I Hugely appreciate what you sharing.
This was super helpful. I'm a freshman and I'm thinking of doing a strategies corporate communication or businesses emphasis in marketing. My school doesn't have a marketing major. I like more sales but I think the PR side of sales would be good. Also what the difference between PR and communication. And the difference between a businesses emphasis and a minor .
Thank you so much now I would totally consider mass comm as a diploma
Super helpful and straightforward
this was incredibly helpful. you are so well-spoken. thank you so much!
Exactly! I am currently a sophomore taking up a Bachelor of Arts Major in Communication, specializing in Broadcast Journalism here in the Philippines, and I find these contents interesting as a communication major. We do we need more communication-related content like these because there are a lot of existing misconception and course-shaming with this college degree. Love you girl.

2:13 lmao. Also at 5:45 how often would you say you have to present things to higher-ups? Is it usually a small setting with 5 or so people or larger? That sounds intimidating
Hi there! Great video, thanks! How high of math do they make you do in marketing? Like basic algebra? Or higher up? Thanks!

LOL that’s hilarious. Thanks for the view tho!
How are you doing today?
lol I did marketing comms
Communications is a useless women's degree. Marketing pretty much useless too. Not surprising you didnt know the difference til you worked. Men usually get useful degrees. What a waste of time.
I came to this video because my church is looking for someone to create content for social media by choosing photos and videos. Promote our church on Facebook, google, Instagram... Watching this video I'm not sure if we need a comm. What would you suggest.

hello as a comm major i might be a little biased but i think a comm major would be better because they understand better how people relate to content which works well for getting likes and engagement especially outside of the market incentive. a marketing major without a natural inclination towards understanding how content can create meaning might be more analytics focused
hey cheyenne I hope you are fne. I am your subscriber I want ask some important question about COMM. Is this possible I can talk to you on Instagram. I will be very thankful..
