Totally right about warranties and saying yes, best to be reluctant I've found.

You should only buy a car when it's absolutely necessary as it's a minefield, with so many potential problems. I should think if you want to be a dealer be prepared for a life of hassle and occasionally worry.

Another great video guys, thanks a lot. Re. pitches and units, do you often or have you ever heard of local councils refusing planning permission to change use of a unit from something like storage/light industrial, to Sui Generis vehicle sales? I've heard it's not really a concern, and I see lots of dealers operating from such warehouse type units?

No I haven’t but certain councils can have different rules, I’d just get in touch with your local planning officer the ones up here are really helpful

I’ve recently started a car dealer business but only part time just now. I’ve bought all my cars privately so far but I have good mechanical knowledge so know what to look out for. I will probably use auctions in the future as well though. I’ve been looking for premises as well, I want a unit so I can work on the cars but there really isn’t a lot around here that comes up and they’re not cheap. I would take a pitch but having a unit to do some of the work myself keeps costs down till I get going and can do it full time. There’s a pitch up for let near me just now but it’s £45k for the year which is way out my budget right now. I’d say it fits about 30-40 cars and has a workshop with a ramp as well.

That does sound a lot for 40 cars ideally I think 25k - 30k is when you need to be. One will come up, just need to be patient

I think they’re not too bad, just make sure you read the small print, the warranty doesn’t cover everything but if you get a platinum warranty wise package they do cover a lot of parts!

Can i ask why you charge a 199 plus vat admin fee if arranging your own finance which seems extortionate for a bit of paperwork.

finance company’s such as cf247 charge us a fee of £199 plus vat which is ridiculous considering we get no commission as well, so we have to add that to the invoice to cover them costs
