Magic. I have done Steall, and Aonach Eagach. Long, long ago, I'm too ancient for that now. Brings a tear to my eye, seeing your vids. And I have in my memories Bidean, the Buchaille. Thank you.

Thanks Chris, looking forward to doing Bidean next year 😁 Cheers, James
I agree with all of these - it is hard to go wrong with Glen Coe and the Torridons - only the Cuillins can match them. The Liathach pinnacles are difficult scrambles but the bypass path looks far hairier and a lot more exposed- I would stick with the pinnacles if I did it again. Great vids btw!

It is, only discovered Glencoe this year and keep getting drawn back to it.. will be doing the pinned next time 😁 Cheers, James
Great video James! My top 5 favourite Munro's in order: An Teallach, Beinn Alligin, Beinn Liath Mhor, Ben Hope and Gleouraich/Spidean Mialach. There is something magical about the North West Highlands: Torridon, Assynt & Sutherland. Absolutely beautiful part of Scotland and the Earth. Also some fantastic corbetts up in the North West such as Quinag, Foinaven, Ben Loyal and Cranstackie.

A very, very good choice James. Having done all your top 5 in differing weather conditions, Liathach was my first Munro and will always be my favourite as well. Enjoy your journey my friend and the linger on the memories that you will make along the way.

Fantastic list, Cheers, James
I've only done a select few but did liatach last week. Beautiful clear skies and snowy tops. I did trip on the second pinnacle and damaged my camera lens - ouch. My mates heart beated a little too quickly in that moment. Therefore, we ended up diverting to the bypass path just before the 3rd pinnacle as the sun was due to set in 2hrs. 1. Sgurr Alasdair - the views are just breathtaking. 2. Liatach - again but feel if we had more time and no scare it could have been even better! 3. Bidean Nam Bian via Lost Valley 4. Ben Nevis via CMD Arete 5. Ben More Assynt - views again wow. 1 and 2 are a toss up. I was just fitter at the time when doing the former so enjoyed the day more. I spent have the day on Liatach gagging for water lol

For me it’s Probably not a Munro. Marsco on Skye is incredible! Beautiful walk in from sligachan, the 360 views of black cuillins, red cuillins, Applecross, torridon, skye bridge at the top are incredible. Have done it in winter as well and it’s even better with snow.

Lovey filming nice mountains have done a lot of munroes but not interested in keeping count glen Sheil is my favourite place done the south ridge on Saturday including the saddle and the sisters on Sunday man the beer was good in the kintail hotel after that good luck on your quest son I,m now 80 years old and still love Scotland Scenery

Thank you 😁 Glen Shiel is a great area!
The weather is so important for being right up there. Your day on Liatyhach was perfect with enough cloud about for mysteries, but not to much to wipe out the views. Therefore having done them all a number of times I get a slightly less weather biased choice as no Munro has been totally awful weather every time. So it ois hard to beat Torridon or An Teallach or Aonach Eagach or the remoteness and beauty of A' Mhaighdean, or the Cuillin - Sgurr nan Gillean the outstanding one of them. I'd probably pick Gillean even had I not had the second best sunset of my life from the summit.

Enjoyed your review last year and this one great too. On first ascent of AE, I was struggling to make the climb down to the ridge from Am Bodach. A big, hairy guy in a traditional kilt, carrying a saltire came back along the ridge and just took hold of my foot and pulled it down about 3 inches to the nearest foothold and strode off back along the ridge - never saw him again. Once I recovered my composure (I said a few sweary words to myself), I had one of my finest days on the hills.

It's quite scary to be honest! Different world when you get there! But.......🥴👊
Nice selection 👌 can you recommend some guides? for the Highlands in particular the NW Torridon area, TIA.
The Buachaille via Curved Ridge is my favourite mountain but I think An Teallach is definitely the best.
Glad you chose Liathach. I found a gully to descend between the Eastern Summit and the end of the Pinnacles going West to East which makes it possible to go directly to Beinn Eighe instead of going back to the road
Done 3 of your top 5 and definitely agree with your top 2. My favourite 2 as well. Absolutely beltin mountains! Great footage too mate!

lovely choice - unlike your earlier videos - I detect a bent towards scrambling. Might I advise getting a cheap lid for anything over grade 1, especially in the Culins (gabbro's very good but there's a lot of crappy basalt that can catch you out) - but it's probably the best concentrated range in Scotland. I wish you well in your further adventures - beautifully done videos, simple and concise.
@ScottishMunroJourney
Жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard - your right, the more scrambling I do, the more I’m enjoying it 😁 A helmet is on my Christmas list for this year, especially with Skye coming up Cheers, James
The clear views make all the difference. I would love to be able to do some of these grade 2 ridge walks but I am not an experienced scrambler and don't have a like minded companion, so I have the problem of how to gain enough experience to be able to do some of these climbs alone. The most exposed route I have done is Crib Goch but I believe Aonach Eagach is on the next level to that.
Great hills 👍, done them all on list and 100% on board with torridon ones, fantastic hills. If you've never been before Arran is well worth it, some classic Corbett's. The sannox horseshoe 😍
Superb maté excellent footage thanks

Really enjoyed the video....top 5’s are always subjective but you may revise your list when you’ve done Gillean, an Teallach and Ladhar Bheinn ! Look forward to your next one. Munroist 4050.

Thanks Michal, Im doing Gillean in May, also hoping to get Ladhar Bheinn in Spring - I think the list will look different at the end of the year like you say! Cheers, James
Scary/exciting stuff
A fine selection of summits. I'm not sure I could pick a top 5 - my favourite hill is always the one I'm already on . Liathach is definitely up there though. The folks I saw coming off the bypass path looked traumatised! 😂If you were happy on the Horns of Alligin then you'd enjoy the Am Fasarinen pinnacles.
@ScottishMunroJourney
Жыл бұрын
Haha your right there, hence my high ratings on most days out 😂 The bypass was pretty terrifying to be honest 😂 Cheers, James
Nice one, look forward to seeing what you think of the cullin. Nice time of year to do them too! You using a guide? Tbh with the ones you've done so far you should be fine but I don't think anyone can honestly say they do these kind of hills without some sense of nervousness.

I've got a soft spot for the Buachaille (via curved ridge) but I've done over 150 munros all over Scotland and An Teallach is the best for me. I actually prefer Ben Alligin to Liathach.

Redonkulous stuff I need to get to scotland more you showcased it off perfectly
Great video! My 15 yo daughter and I are going to be in Scotland this summer for a few weeks and looking for great hikes without narrow ridges, scary scrambling. I've done Bidean nam Bian in the past (loved it/no issues with exposure) and we are planning to do Suilven. Can you recommend any other hikes in Scotland that would be similar to Bidean and Suilven in that we are looking for the most scenic hikes in Scotland, challenging, but avoiding hikes with narrow ridges and steep scrambling?
At first I thought, oh no, another boring video of a guy climbing Munros but then I finished it! Well narrated, good footage and appropriate music. I have done 112 Munros but I don't like scrambling, so I'll miss many of those in your video, so it's nice to see them. Favourites: Braeriach, Ben Mcdui, Mount Keen, Stùcd an Lochain and Stob Coire Easain. My least favourites: Ben Nevis and Ben Lomond: too many people in there!

A welcome return to bright Summer days and blue skies. Just about anyone of these climbs could be number one depending on your own personal preference and whether you thrive on the heart stopping moments encountered on the ridges. That said I think you've judged well and wish you well for the Skye outings.

The mountains are beautiful and green . The Swiss believe that the Australian mountains are not mountains but are very large hills . So the mountains of the UK must be large hills then . Your hikes in Scotland are pretty though .
The Bidean Nam Bian massiff. I have climbed it three times using six different routes of approach and return, with each one being as spectacular and exciting as the last.
