Masters in Optometry from a top institution has good scope, you can also consider pursuing courses like MSc in Applied Child Development, D.Ed/ B.Ed in Special Education (Visual Impairment), MPH, PGDM/ MBA (only from a top b-school like Goa Institute of Management, IIM Jammu, IIM Bodh Gaya, etc.), MHA, Master in Rehabilitation Science, Master in Disability Rehabilitation Administration, MSW, MSc in Industrial Hygiene and Safety, MSc in Occupational Health and Industrial Safety, etc.

most of the institutions for BSc Physician Assistant is in Tamil Nadu... Some institutes at West Bengal offers this course... It is a great course with good salary... do it from top institutions like Saveetha, PSG, Apollo, etc... if you couldn't get seat in these institutions then do it from an institution which has tie up with well reputed hospitals... you can also do it from institutions which has good multispeciality hospital like KMCH, G Kuppusamy Memorial hospital, etc... attached to it

you can prefix the title "Dr." after completing Ph.D, but not after MSc, you can also become a Dr. with specailization in Nutrition and Dietetics by completing MD in Nutrition and Dietetics after BNYS.

Some universities like Singhania University, Himalayan University, Sunrise University, etc. provides M.Optom/ MSc in Optometry through distance education in collaboration with some institutions outside their jurisdiction, but that is not legal as per UGC norms, so their degrees are not valid. You can pursue M.Optom offered by Chitkara University, CT University, Desh Bhagat University, ITM University, Amity University, Sushant University, Dr. Agarwal's Institute of Optometry, NSHM Knowledge Campus, Bharatimaiya College of Optometry and Physiotherapy, Hari Jyot College of Optometry, Global College of Nursing (Kanyakumari), ITM Institute of Health Sciences, Institute of Management Study (Kolkata) were you are allowed to study while continuing with work.

@@motivateme5959 1. As far as Maharashtra is concerned you are required to register at Maharashtra Paramedical Council to practice the profession there. 2. Documents required to open a clinic depends on your state act. 3. Sky is the limit for skilled Optometrists who can afford to start his/ her own clinic and/ provide freelancing services. 4. Starting a Clinic immediately after B.Optom/ M.Optom/ after gaining some experience entirely depends on your skills and confidence. 5. If you are not confident enough in your practical skills and looking to gain it by pursuing some courses, then I would suggest pursuing Fellowship/ PGDOVS from a top institution like Sankara Nethralaya, LVPEI, Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, etc.

The minimum qualification as per NCAHP Act, 2021 is a 4 years degree, so 3 years B.Voc in Optometry is not recognized to pursue MSc/ M.Optom.

If the answer is: 1. to get into clinical sector or to start your own practice, doing Fellowship or PGDOVS in Clinical Optometry from top institutes like LVPEI, Sankara Nethralaya, etc. would be better, if you are already very good in clinical optometry doing Fellowship or PGDOVS in Specialities is better, you can also consider pursuing dual Post Graduate Diploma cum Fellowship in Optometry (provided in various specialities) provided by Indian Academy of Optometry while continuing with your job. This is the first academy to offer dual certification (PG Diploma cum Fellowship) in recognition with National Council for Vocational and Research Training (NCVRT, Delhi)/ Jain University 2. to get into corporate sector, pursuing MHA or MBA in Hospital Administration will be good. 3. to get into academics and or research, pursuing M.Optom from top institutes like Elite School of Optometry, The Sankara Nethralaya Academy, Manipal University, BVP, etc. is better. Some of them offer PhD too, but the minimum eligibility criteria to pursue PhD in our country is a masters degree. You can also consider pursuing M.Optom (Practitioner) from Sushant University, CT University, Dr. Agarwal’s Institute of Optometry, Hari Jyot College of Optometry, Shree Bharatimaiya College of Optometry & Physiotherapy, Amity University, Chitkara University, Desh Bhagat University, ITM University, ITM Institute of Health Sciences, NSHM College of Management and Technology, Institute of Management Study (Kolkata), Global College of Nursing, Kanyakumari while continuing with job. You can also consider pursuing MSc in Child Development, MSc in Mind Body Medicine, MPH, etc. Note: 1. MGM Institute of Health Sciences, D.Y. Patil University and ITM Institute of Health Sciences are some of the good institutions to offer M.Optom in Mumbai. 2. Singhania University, Himalayan University, Capital University, Sunrise University, etc. offers M.Optom through institutes like Rayhan College of Optometry, Mugavari Eye Hospital and Research Institute, etc. in the name of collaborative program. As per UGC norms universities are not allowed to offer its courses through coaching centres/ franchisee centres and beyond jurisdiction, so such degrees are not valid. Apex court ordered Bharathiyar University to stop running it’s courses as it acted against UGC norms. To work as an optometrist abroad you have to meet the eligibility criteria and clear the licensing exam of the country and state which you are applying for. Some countries and states require international candidates to undergo their accredited program or a bridge course to be eligible for their licensing exam, so OD abroad is worth pursuing only if you are looking to settle in the country from which you pursue it, chances of getting a job abroad (only in a few countries) after completing Fellowship from a top institution is good. PhD being a universal degree is worth pursuing across the globe. Elite School of Optometry, Brien Holden Institute of Optometry and Vision Sciences (A Unit of LVPEI) and Narayana Nethralaya do offer PhD in collaboration with universities abroad, this will help you saving money.

@himashu4416 with a bachelors degree in Optometry you can work in hospitals, clinics, optical showrooms, ophthalmic equipment manufacturing industries, optometry teaching institutions, start your own practice, provide freelancing services, etc. You can also pursue M.Optom, Fellowship, MPH, MBA, etc. and get into higher levels.

It has good scope provided you have done it from a top institution, internship from a top organization atleast is needed. Sky is the limit (provided you are skilled) if you can start your own clinic/ provide freelance services
