One of my best friends is an ex Mormon. I always admired him growing up because he was able to avoid all the temptations most teenagers can’t. I on the other hand participated in pretty much everything but he never judged me or our other friends. He was around it too but just wouldn’t do it. His will power was out of this world. He’s not Mormon anymore but still one of the best humans I have ever met.

​@@taxicamel What are you talking about? I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I have family members who have left. They all are open about their reasons, but their reasons are different and deeply personal to them. It's a crying shame when people feel like they can't be totally truthful about their life experiences, and that is something I have openly pushed back on in every Ward (aka, congregation) of which I have been a member.

Having been raised mormon , but leaving after studying the bible , i find mormonism to be a theological nightmare. But my experience with my mormon neighbors friends and relatives, i can say they are wonderful , kind and generous people.

If you believe anything similar to what the average mainstream denomination believes, then you've simply switched a different kind of theological nightmare. The average modern Christian can't even get the identity of God's people, or who the New Covenant was made for correct, and most interpret the idioms employed in Genesis 3 regarding the fall completely literally. It's an extremely sad state of affairs.

​@@doxholiday1372 That's why you have a magisterium that acts as guide rails for interpretation. This is why protestantism fails; because the bible is your SOLE infallible authority in this paradigm. This means that there's no infallible interpretive agent, leaving you to assume that position, hence why there are a million protestant denominations. In Luther's own life during the reformation, he stated that there were more sects than heads. This is the fruit of sola scriptura, people.

The reason why there is such a "huge focus" as this video titling states, is because this is a CULTISM ...with people typically following like sheople ....to be seen and "hob-nob" ....hoping to "get ahead" with the wealthy that sit in the front rows at church. It is OK to have beliefs, but when MONEY is the mainstream requirment....giving a percentage of your income ....this is a complete departure from ANY kind of "belief", no matter what it is. Nope....this is cult of mindless people ....who follow only to be accepted by others. Of course, they will deny this. .

Pretty sure all of your points come down to whether you need "works" & grace or just grace (because if you need "works" then it makes it a bit more important to go to the church that has the authority to perform baptisms, sacraments or communions etc.) Jesus Christ's grace cleanses all from sin regardless of "works" (such as baptism). However, Jesus isn't going to force people to follow him & join him in heaven. So he asks people to do "works" as an outward expression of their inner commitment to him, to show him they want to follow & be with him. James 2: "18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only"

@@fayelewis5476 oof you just went full preacher mode with that last paragraph there. Was really listening to your point of view up until then. 1. Paul is speaking to already baptised Christians who obviously needed to be reminded that getting into heaven isn't based on a points system for how many good works you've done. 2. James very very clearly states that, "by works a man is justified, not by faith only". Argue about what "works" he refers to all you want but he clearly says they along with faith justify us. 3. Jesus Christ speaking in Mark 16 "15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Clearly baptism is key to being "saved" but again if you have no faith & just get baptized it means nothing which really emphasizes what Paul & James are saying, that works alone cannot save you. And I completely agree. Being baptized means nothing if you don't believe in Jesus Christ. 4. I really don't see anyone at church "making fun" of Jesus Christ. If anything I think the idea of the Trinity is disrespectful to Jesus Christ as it diminishes the fact that He is a separate person who made the choice himself to obey the will of God to save us all.

Yes Joseph Smith was a convicted conman, who convinced a bunch of rubes to follow him, and then convinced the women that he and his buddies were supposed to sleep with multiple women. I’ve been raised Mormon, and let’s say the most beautiful thing I can see about this church is how the members have the ability to cope so well after loosing someone. In our beliefs, when a person dies, they’re not dead. Just- somewhere else if that makes sense. And you can meet them again once your dead too. It’s probably more complicated, but that’s it in simple terms. One of my teachers lost two of her children, and coped with the loss, undoubtedly, better than everyone I’ve met who’s not Mormon and lost someone dear to them. Guess that gives them a purpose in life.

What happens if you lose a child and then you convert to LDS? Will your child still be there? What level of heaven, if so.

There were a lot of Mormons at the school i went to. I still have Mormon friends. They always seemed nervous and secretive about what they believed because they were worried about being judged by everyone. They couldn't seem to tell if people were genuinely curious or just digging for dirt. It was kinda sad. They were such nice people and they were treated like outcasts

Brigham young’s racist ramblings and indoctrinal blood atonement statements? The mountain meadows massacre? Pearl of great price books? Honestly, the only REAL thing I think he should have mentioned was the doctrine n covenants and MAYBE the books of abraham and Moses if he bad time to fit them. Everything else was spot on (aside from the fact polygamy very clearly originated with Joseph Smith himself)

​@@raz6630 We are not a monolith. I'm Autistic, and my two great passions in life are my faith and punk rock music. I'm not sure why the classmates of OP weren't allowed to do extracurricular activities, other than maybe the parents of those classmates were too busy. We don't have any paid local clergy, so the responsibility of everything falls on the shoulders of those who worship. Meaning, we have to hold down jobs and provide for our families and do the things that bring spiritual nourishment to ourselves and those who attend with us. So it might have just been a time issue, and not an issue of nerdiness.

I watched your videos about the different Christian denominations, and then the one about the Catholics, before watching the one about the LDS faith. I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ myself and was so impressed with the other videos, that I was eager to see how you're portrayed My Religion. Excellent job! I love the respect you show! Egyptian scholars (Mormon and non Mormon) ALL agree that Joseph Smiths interpretation of these “historical scrolls” are wrong in every way. The scrolls he was interpreting had NOTHING to do with Abraham. They were common funerary scrolls written 2,000 years AFTER Abraham lived. The Book of Mormon has THE SAME translation mistakes and THE SAME italicized words as the King James Version bible did of his day. These mistakes in translation were later corrected in the King James Version bible. Why would the “golden plates” that Joseph interpreted have the EXACT MISTAKES as the Bible did? Wouldn’t God have corrected those mistakes in this new translation?? Joseph Smith sexual practice strikes a similar pattern as Warren Jeffs. Joseph had multiple wives, some of which were 14. Being attracted to someone that age is considered pedophilic. Joseph also married women who were already married. One of which was pregnant with her other husbands child. Joseph did not tell his wife and hid this practice of polygamy. If polygamy was ordered by God, why did Joseph have to hide it from his wife? The Mormon church believes that God marked sinful people with black skin. The church did not allow black men to hold the priesthood or black families to be sealed in the temple until the late 1970’s. Which is just a really shitty thing to do. Really shitty. I mean, I thought God loved all his children equally?

@@aprildiviney5927 1981 the Racism Laws became law across many countries. In 1981 also, the Book of Mormon was edited (again) to change verses which read "white and delightsome" to "pure and delightsome". Did Joseph Smith or his God get it wrong or were one or both of them racist and were not called out until the late seventies. The church leaders have always said if anyone can find one thing that is not according to God's will in the doctrine of the (Mormon) church, then the whole church would be proved false. The Mormon church has been proven false on many occasions and in many verses and also doctrines which are only spoken about and practised behind closed doors through which even many church members are not allowed to enter.

I have only met devout Mormons. They were all very good people and fun to be around. I never saw anything "strange" and they did not try to convert me. If I asked a question, they would answer. I feel so bad for how they were treated in the early days and am glad they found a place to grow.

This was a very interesting video. I am quiet atheist and one of my friends is Latter Day Saint. I do not dispute his believes at all, he sometimes tries to convert me. Yet, we remain really good friends and respectful of each other. It is nice understanding his believes. For one, faith might be beneficial for some people life strength and directions. And for two, it is almost impossible to turn someone either way, after they are grown up and made the decision, with all the history etc...

I'm not advocating mormonism, but I will say in my experience mormons are some of the most hardworking, ethical, moral people I've met.

The reason why there is such a "huge focus" as this video titling states, is because this is a CULTISM ...with people typically following like sheople ....to be seen and "hob-nob" ....hoping to "get ahead" with the wealthy that sit in the front rows at church. It is OK to have beliefs, but when MONEY is the mainstream requirment....giving a percentage of your income ....this is a complete departure from ANY kind of "belief", no matter what it is. Nope....this is cult of mindless people ....who follow only to be accepted by others. Of course, they will deny this. .

As a member, this was one of the best explanations of our beliefs by a non-member that I've seen in a while. Thank you.

@@mrmalarkey5572 Actually it's the other way around, Society is a cancer for Christianity, not just Christianity but cancer to the Society as well. 25 years ago nearly the whole world were following practices of Christianity which is why the only places open on the Sabbath Day were the emergency services, no shops whatsoever. It's why gay marriage was against the law and other sexual sins. The world use to be under a shared moral framework preventing things spiraling out of control. Here's a fulfilled prophecy by Moroni; "they will be those who shall say, Do this, or do that, and it mattereth not," 25 years ago the moral standard was usually seen as the majority, no longer is that true. The majority no longer live by a shared moral framework causing all the disputations, financial struggles, rising crime and why more and more laws are being legalised. An investigation was done about morality on young adults, they were asked open ended questions about right and wrong and two thirds of the people couldn't even answer the question, depressingly the interviewers got answers like; "it's not often I deal with right and wrong." "It feels like the right thing to do." The interviewees had not been given the resources to colour in their moral intuition. The moral example is now seen as "the free floating individual", someone who can do whatever they want to do no matter how it affects others. The Society not been under a moral framework always reminds me of this; Helaman 5:2-3 2 For as their laws and their governments were established by the voice of the people, and they who chose evil were more numerous than they who chose good, therefore they were ripening for destruction, for the laws had become corrupted. 3 Yea, and this was not all; they were a stiffnecked people, insomuch that they could not be governed by the law nor justice, save it were to their destruction.

@Jason Merrone I've gone through the CES Letter and it's plain deceitful because of all the partial truths and the fact Jeremy had to rewrite his letters several times, he wasn't right about everything. Whether someone's Christian or not is not up to you. Your churches deny the power of God, and deny lots of the Bible. Example, you deny the existence of true prophets in the last days. In the book of Revelations when John is talking about the last days he prophesies they'll be people persecuting and killing true prophets. How can anyone persecute and kill true prophets in the last days if prophets don't exist? The prophets, apostles and Christ himself declare again and again that the Father is Christ's God. "the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ," (Eph. 1:3). Paul prophesied in the last dispensation of the fullness of times God will gather "all things" as one in Christ, as Peter, John and Paul foresaw, they had to be a falling away of all things first to be a gathering of all things (1 Cor. 1:10). Once the ancient church displaced the apostles in exile and killed them so they could worship Roman Emperors the powers of heaven withdrew and took rulership into their own hands, Roman Emperors were not called by God as the prophets and apostles were. The Nicene Creed and Trinity didn't even exist until the council of Nicaea under the leadership of Pagan Constantine. God does not reveal his word through politics. Your churches are under the precept of men that it's up to you what God can and can't do. You: "Shut up God, you cannot add to your word!" You: "Get lost God, we do not need prophets and apostles!" Even though Paul strictly taught the Lord's Church is built upon a foundation of apostles and prophets. Mormon 9:19-20 19 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles. 20 And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust. Once the ancient church stopped believing God to be a God of miracles like you, he would no longer perform miracles among the church which is why there was no longer any direct communication between him and his church, it was no longer his church, it became the Roman Emperor's Church.

Joseph Smith didn’t translate anything from “golden plates.” It’s a known fact. What he actually did was stuff his face in a hat with a peep stone in the bottom. Joseph claims that words were revealed to him via this magical stone - in the dark, with his face stuffed into a hat.

Thank you for this video, most videos by non members don’t have a lot of actual research behind them and are just hearsay. Also I think you misunderstood the concept of spirit prison. It is not just for the wicked, those who do not live to the gospel in its fullness go there. However, it’s not a horrible place. You simply can’t progress there on your own. We believe that those who go to spirit prison can still be taught the gospel, but we need to do their ordinances for them as who said. Spirit prison and spirit paradise are kind of like the waiting rooms where we will reside until judgement where we will go to one of the three kingdoms you spoke of.

Don't you think there can be more to life, from valuing all sorts of varied cultures and the wonderful diversity it brings with different approachs and mindsets and tools to use, than by hoping for all people to be the same? There can be valuable life enlightening experiences taught everywhere. It seems almost hyperbolic to believe in a 'spirit prison' as a force of love in as much as a man might think caging a heart will keep it free. Forgive me if i am just going but what i hear, but it sounds like almost as if this small, relatively obscure, less than 0.5% of the world's population, Mormon church expects people to conform to it, like it's members, when in fact it's one of the smallest minorities in the world. Take for instance two competitors or business owners, one offers customers a great experience and welcomes them back and offers wonderful surprises. The other has a chef that yells at customers serving half baked food and tries to force their customers to eat there. At the end of the day, people there would still order out of politeness but people would stop returning. The people came, and gave raving reviews about one, but were cautious and tried hesitantly the food and gagged and could not swallow it. Within a week, one restaurant had gotten nearly all the customers and was thriving and booming with more business than ever before. With more time and care and earned recriprocacy the good owner thrived on bringing people together, while the smaller one tried to divide and fued. Within a year, one owner went on to be seen as wise and humble and a friend, the other, closed down. What can we learn from this lesson?

As a member I will say this: it is almost always unwarranted when someone goes after an on-the-ground member of the church. Us lds folk are rather kind and generous and surprisingly tolerant. But you need to look at the faith more honestly if you don't think the organization as a whole deserves some crap. The leaders have proven many times over to not be very trustworthy, and none of them have shown any sign of seership or divine power for over 140 years. Just saying. Trying to be objective here

With all due respect. I first want to say that leader of a church or not we are all the same and we all make mistakes. I mean look at prophets in the bible. They were good people but it doesn't mean they don't make mistakes. All I'm saying is give them the benefit of the doubt. If you look at what our leaders have done you will see that there is a lot of good. Then when it comes to revelation in the last 140 years. I would recommend watching General conference talks by the Prophet and apostles. I think you will find that they do reveal thing pertaining to whatever was happening during that time. The problems we face today are different than before so that means that the revelation will be different as well. One thing I will also add is that revelation doesn't always have to be something grand. It can be something simple. I hope this helps and I want to say that I love and respect everyone no matter what they believe. I am currently a missionary and I talk to people of other faiths and back grounds everyday. I enjoy learning about other religions and helping each other grow. I will always defend what I believe but I will always try to do it in the most respectful way. If there is anything that you find offensive, I'm sorry because that's not how I meant it. I encourage everyone to seek for truth. I know the best way to receive truth is from God. I hope all the best for you and anyone who reads this. If you or anyone has questions feel free to ask. I will try my best to respond

I saw some Mormon missionaries last summer. They were at a park & ride. I wanted to help them but some others had beat me too it. They look just how they do in the movies or television except they are younger

I’ve visited a Mormon temple over the weekend and I was asked if I believed in Jesus. My answer was that “there is only Jesus”. Not sure if that was an acceptable answer. That being said I was astonished with how kind people were. Deeply impressed. Also love the focus on family. Respect.

As a former Mormon, most are nice and sincerely love Jesus. The problem for me was the realization that it was a cult. The emphasis on money for the leadership as well as putting an authority between me and God became unacceptable. That would be with any religion. I hope the nice Mormons figure out they are being scammed. ❤

​@@angelarasmussen1800 As a member currently, my heart hurts that you feel this way. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is paper thin or ocean deep, depending on how we choose to study it and live it. I have studied so many religions in my life, because I'm Autistic and love religion and punk rock, and some definitely do try to come between followers and God. But I chose this religion because I felt it was so up to the individual to study and learn. I think a great lie is that a person doesn't need religion of any kind in their lives. We are social creatures, and opportunities to learn from one another and serve each other can bring nourishment to our spirits. A lot of people care deeply about their physical and emotional well being, but place no thought into their spiritual well being. And when we die, all we are left with is our spirits. Don't allow this world to emaciate your spirit. I have been thinking about this a lot lately, spiritual health vs. physical health vs. emotional health. I feel like I'm missing something in this concept. I feel like my parents, who were both converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, did an excellent job allowing each of their children the freedom to live their own lives and make their own choices. They did an excellent job providing for us physically and spiritually, but completely neglected our emotional and mental health. I'm a parent now myself, and often wonder how my children one day will rate me in how well I provided for them in these three aspects of our existence... And if they will forgive me where I fall short.

I am not a member of the LDS church but I have several American friends who are, and I really like these people, they are always optimistic, cheerful, positive, ethical, empathetic, truly good at heart and always ready to listen and help...definitely some of the best people I know. Thank you for a good video to explain to non lds members. This is very correct. There are some things about lds temples that you did not speak about. When people get married, they are being sealed together so they can stay together once they die. We can also do baptisms for the dead which allows them to go back to their family even if they committed bad sins.

When we put the Bible and The Book of Mormon and The Doctrine and Covenants together we can see it all as true. They teach that when Adam went against God's EXPRESSED will, he was obeying His TRUE will. This is just one of many false beliefs that have no place in Christian teaching. @@andreyamiller9934 I don't know what you are trying to prove here, it's just another verse from the bible that is under interpretation of many and all churches in which follow it. in the end if you live your commandments and you understand you are saved by the gift of grace, you are saved by the love of Jesus Christ. It is true no amount of works will grant you salvation, for they are hollow compared to the deed God himself did for us his children, but as long as you have grace and believe he is your savior.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints... I watched the Scientology video in order to learn about Scientology and then watched this video to see how accurate these videos are... I think you did a good job! You did a good job explaining the beliefs but further understanding church culture is necessary to fully understand the Mormon experience.

There is 502 years of reform against Rome, against the addition of books and doctrines to the Bible, and now here we come with another extension of a book for the bible, the Mormon book !!! Where are Protestantism now. Did Christians know their Bible. I am astonished that you turn so quickly away from him who called you by the grace of Christ, to pass to another gospel ... But, when we ourselves, when an angel from heaven would announce another gospel than the one we ourselves have preached, let him be anathema! Galatians 1: 6,8 And he said, Hear my words well! When there is among you a prophet, it is in a vision that I, the LORD, will reveal myself to him, it is in a dream that I will speak to him. Numbers 12: 6 Revelation of Jesus Christ, which he received from God, to show his servants the things that are to come soon ... Joseph Smith's wife caught him having sex with another woman and he told her that God commanded him to have many wives. Mrs Smith believed him. Mrs Smith certainly wasn't the brightest penny in the pile! 8.Blacks were banned from the? Mormon priesthood because they remained neutral in the Great Celestial War !?! However, in 1978 God telephoned the head of the LDS and removed the ban on blacks. This, of course, had nothing to do with the Federal Government's threat of the LDS losing its tax exempt status for being a bigoted organization violating basic US civil rights.

@@learntime1202 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doesn't believe we gain Salvation by our works, we believe everyone besides the sons of perdition will receive Salvation. Regarding works; • We shall be judged according to our works. • Christ will reward people according to their works. • Faith is dead without works. You probably know we believe in different degrees of Salvation, the works are involved with the final judgement and degree of Salvation.

Such a good overview. Since many Mormon believers confirmed whole info regarding their faith, I guess there is no reason not to believe to this.

as a member of the church I really liked this video. He was extremely accurate and understood the theology and history very well. I wish he elaborated on some theological concepts but overall this was very well made, and a good indicator of our actual beliefs

It didn't include Joseph Smith's 14 year old brides or his marriages to other men's wives. Nor did it include the edict that Black people where unworthy to get into the temple or be full members of the church until the 70s. But that's okay, cuz Jesus... right?

I guess forgiveness and humility for not knowing the full picture as a tiny human being in an infinite universe could work as well. Or we could burn our forefathers down to the ground even though their actions got us in this comfort-centered age. We could make our own woke religion with our own woke gods of social media and social justice to tell us what's right and what's wrong. We could do many things, I guess we'll have to choose for ourselves.

Headless Horseman Don’t mistake my question earlier for indifference or apathy. I simply have had too many discussions with people who use some of the same arguments you do and neither of us seem to listen to the other and the level of respect is unbecoming of a follower of Christ. I will send a short answer to your question for the time being however. “We believe in God the Eternal Father and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost”. The First Article of Faith, Joseph Smith. This alone should be proof enough that we are a church. Beyond that, some dispute that we are Christian. I assume this is what you are really meaning. Some say we worship a “different Jesus” or something. Makes no sense to me. The Jesus in the Bible we worship. The man from Galilee who worked miracles, died on the cross and was resurrected so that we might live again. He is also in the Book of Mormon. I’ve studied both my whole life, and I see no contradiction, only barriers and interpretations thrown up by mankind

Your post is accurate, however the video does not do full justice in that it omits many aspects of the church it would possibly keep to itself until the investigator is so deep in there is no perceivable way to back out.

@@carlduffinexactly. However you are never trapped in this church by the teachings. The social construct that has built up around the church over time are what does the trapping. It is the family and freinds that don't truly understand the teachings of Christ that do the wrong thing and make it shameful to leave. As for things that are held internally by the church, all of it can be understood without being in the church, it will take just as much study to understand as it does in the church. The information is contained in mainly the Old Testament, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pear of Great Price. The unique position of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that it is the same church as what Adam had after leaving the Garden of Eden, the same church as Moses and the children of Israel. God never changes but his children do. So too the way the church is organized changes. The end goal is always the same.

I always remember what Paul the Apostle said, "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed." Gal.1.8 Mormons teach a gospel contrary to sound teaching and contrary to the gospel once delivered to the Saints of God.

I watched your video and want to give my personal life experience with actually being a convert to Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. This is what happened to us when we joined the church over 35 years ago and raised our family in it. Where can I find something better? I was raised in a protestant faith until Mormon missionaries found me and baptized me as a young man. I have continued to study other faiths for over thirty years and I have been amazed at all the anti-Mormon materials in print, film and on the internet. I am an inquisitive and practical soul so I have searched out the answers to the multitude of “problems” critics of the Mormon faith have claimed. After considering both sides, I cannot break loose of the Church’s hold on me because of the following reasons. (1) The Mormon Church has instilled in me, and my family a more deep and personal love of my Savior Jesus Christ than I could have reached in any other faith. I have a sure knowledge that He is my Savior and the only One through whom I can be saved. The Book of Mormon has added so much to the wonderful accounts of Him in the New Testament. The testimony and lives of good Mormons have led me to know that they are true followers of Christ. While I have met wonderful Christians in other faiths, none have stronger belief in the Savior than good Mormons. Help me! Where can I find something better? (2) The Mormons taught me that I am a child of God created in His image, and not just His creation. (Genesis 1:26 “And God said Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” The Trinity is The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost. Three separate Beings with one purpose. The other faiths taught me that God is one Being with three names, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost. And that He is a Spirit without form that fills the whole universe. While this sounds impressive, it would mean that He is only my Creator and not my Father in Heaven. I would be just one of His creations. For example, I can create a beautiful Corvette, and I would love it, but it can never compare with the love I have for my children. I know that my Father in Heaven is my Father in Heaven-and that is much more intimate and personal for me, than to love a Father who is an intangible Spirit - Creator, to whom I am just something He created. The net result is that my children and I have a much more personal relationship with God, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Where can I find something better? (3) Eternal Marriage and families - What an awesome demonstration of the love and Fatherhood of God. Mormons are the only faith that believes that God ordained the family as an Eternal unit. All other faiths teach that marriage ends at death. Because of this belief, Mormon families are the strongest (on average) of any people on Earth. I know from personal experience, that these teachings have helped me and my children to have stronger families in Christ. Where can I find something better? (4) The Church missionary system: The Mormon church offers a chance for my children to voluntarily serve as full time representatives of the Lord for two years. Every Christian religion says it believes Christ’s admonition to “feed My sheep” and share His Word, but, none, not even the Jehovah’s Witnesses have as good a means to make it a positive and life changing experience as the Mormons. I did this myself, and I know from personal experience that nothing can replace the experience, joy and testimony of Jesus Christ I received on my two year mission. I now know why the Bible emphasizes sharing His Word so much. Why do other faiths not promote programs like this for their members? Some offer “mission trips” lasting days or weeks, but this is only a pale shadow of the Mormons two year program. Some faiths have full time missionaries, but their numbers are so small compared to their membership, and they don’t encourage all their youth to go on missions. As many as half of Mormon youth go on missions. I have often said that it is worth being a Mormon just for the blessing of seeing my children have the two year mission experience when they are young. Where can I find something better? (5) The Mormon Health Code - Why don’t other faiths do this? I need help teaching my children to avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs. All faiths believe the body is a temple, but none have as much success teaching their children to avoid unhealthy habits, as do the Mormons. It would be worth being a Mormon just to avoid the problems of seeing my children and grandchildren suffer from the effects of alcohol and drugs, not to mention tobacco. Where can I find something better? (6) Unpaid Ministry - Mormons don’t have to get paid to share the good news of Jesus Christ. I have always had a problem with ministers who would say, “ Give your money to God, but make the check out to me.” Mormon leaders of congregations (called bishops) have regular jobs. That is how they support themselves and they serve the congregation for free because they love the Lord. Mormons actually provide better support to each member of the congregation than faiths with paid preachers, because of the organization of visiting and home teachers, (also unpaid) that help the bishops check the welfare of every member every month! No other faith comes close to that service for the members, even with paid ministry. Even the two-year missionaries pay their own way. It works great. There is no reason other faiths could not do this too. Why don’t they? I love knowing that when I come to church, that they are glad to see me because they care about me, and not about what donations I might give them. Also, Mormons don’t have collection plates. Giving is personal and private and visitors are treated like guests. You would not invite a friend to dinner and then put a collection plate in his face and say “ Wasn’t that good?” Also, I have investigated the way the Church uses funds and it is inspiring. Where can I find something better? On top of all this, while opponents fuss that that false prophets lead us, the Bible clearly states repeatedly that it is through the Name of Jesus that we are saved. Virtually all other Christians believe that if we accept Christ as our Savior we are saved. By this standard, all Mormons are saved, even if we did have “false” prophets. I must say that if we are to judge prophets by their fruits, then I am really caught in this Mormon trap, because of all the wonderful “fruits” I have personally witnessed over the last thirty years. I could go on and on, but, the bottom line is that because of all the blessings and happiness I have received, I guess I am really stuck being a Mormon. I am just 5 years in the church now and i am trying everyday to live my best Gospel life, i am grateful i found the church , i am grateful for his love, mercy and kindness. Such people like you are the reason we keep strong in the gospel. It's called Biblical Christianity, throw the Book of mormon in the trash. The Bible has 3 specific places that say to add nothing or subtract nothing. It is Deu 4:2, Proverbs and in the Book of Revelation. So if Mormonism was so great why are the youngsters of your Religion committing suicide in huge proportions? Is it because the Mormon Doctrine teaches that they will be Gods? The #1 killer of both sexes 14-44- in Utah is Suicide. I live in Idaho and the Suicide rate here is through the roof, so are you joking or what?

Religion is a chosen way of life and a chosen belief system it came after the first Homo sapiens, being that we have been here on this planet for at least 4 million years as some form or another of Homo sapiens or some other species of man, So to follow any kind of belief system or should I say job you need to follow the rules of the job, if you are a lawyer then you need to get a law degree, if you want to be a doctor you have to figure out what kind of doctor you want to be and get a degree from a man’s education system if you will so religion is no different so I respect people that follow their particular brand of religion and it doesn’t mean that they don’t know how to live their life without following other man’s ideas it just means to me that it’s easy for them To follow someone else’s idea about what their life should be like and they are not lazy people because it takes a lot to follow somebody else’s ideas like religion.

Not all people who call themselves Christians actually believe the Bible, some just claim they do. When we put the Bible and The Book of Mormon and The Doctrine and Covenants together we can see it all as true. Did Christ just lie? Christ just said the Father is his God, if you agree Christ is God, you must confess the Father is God's God making the Father and Son two separate gods. Isaiah 43:11 claims it's the Saviour speaking, so from your narrow out of context perspective the Saviour is the only God since the Father is not the Saviour, the Father's not God according to you.

Christ just called the Father his God, so God (Christ) has a God. You have three options to defend your creeds; • Christ is a liar (blasphemy) • Christ is not God (blasphemy) • The Bible is corrupted You couldn't point anything I shared not parallel, this is one of the blessings of The Book of Mormon, we can use it to identify false Christs like yourself, anyone who denies The Book of Mormon does not believe the Bible, they only claim they do.

The video didn't mention at all the bits about humans becoming gods, marrying polygamously and procreating vast numbers of new humans to promote the populating of other planets. Maybe these things are only accessible to fully tithed, fully blinkered members.

Well thnk u for this my brother...even m very satisfied with my relegious beliefs n strict to them ; yet I really live to know rate infos such this (in any field not just relegion) ; so big thnks again. ☺

I have to say that I am quite disabled and have a caregiver and I'm moving December 1st. She could not pack my entire house and I called them the Knights of Columbus who declined and then I picked up my boot straps and called the Church of Latter Day Saints. I've had two people here everyday packing up an entire room in 2 hours and they are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. My aunt and uncle were very Mormon and so was my brother before he killed himself which I'm not sorry about. But I thought I would get one person for one day and so far I have had four and two more coming tomorrow. They don't mention religion or God I always say God bless you when they leave but they don't and I like the fact that they're not trying to preach they're trying to help! :-)

I left the Mormons, so I am considered a traitor. I doubt that they would help me if I needed it. They see you as a prospective convert. They know that the best way to attract people to their faith is by good example, not preaching. But some are angels and would help anyway, even if they knew you would never convert.

We hope that everyone can come to know Christ and we try to follow his example so that in some small way our kindness will translate his love to others. Though, no one is perfect and even good people make mistakes.

@@Cuinn837 Also you aren't considered a "traitor". People lose faith, and others never had it. Many people have crisis of faith for one reason or another, and it can be really tough and breaking. I can understand that. It can be a tough place to be in, I hope that you still pray though. Heavenly Father listens and answers. He answers in ways that he knows we as individuals are best suited to; through a feeling, peace, music, dance, strength of mind and/or body, clarity of mind, etc. It can be tough to recognize answers, but if we look we'll see them.

Probably the most accurate and truthful video on the LDS faith done by an outsider. A few minor quibbles but given this isn't a deep dive they can be forgiven.

I used to be a Mormon (atheist now) and this video is pretty accurate. They're not any stranger to me than other mainstream religions

Very accurate. I am personally a member and I just want to say; Though you may not believe, you are a good person. Many members try to bring you back (though with good hearts) but sometimes its best for people to make their own decisions. May you have a wonderful day!

@@jaemorris2747 I disagree with Markham, I too am an atheist, I like to call myself a born-again Atheist as after having been in religion for a long time, including LDS, I viscerally feel the freedom of no longer being in a spiritual North Korea or Stalinist Russia complete with thought crimes. The entire essence of Christianity is absolute nonsense, killing an innocent person so that every human being who ever lived or will ever live is no longer guilty for a sin they did not commit. But you still must be baptized to confirm your faith, otherwise you still go to hell. and according to some Christians feel fire on flesh for eternity (loving God?) This, even though at least half the world has no reasonable chance of even learning about Christianity. As a Catholic, I truly believed that when some priest in his KKK-like robes bent over a wafer and said some words in latin the wafer literally becomes the flesh and blood of a first century Jewish hippie. Virgin births...other laws of nature being routinely suspended, yeah, can go on and on. What makes Mormons different though is that they have another whole level of nonsense on top of it. Further, for a number of reasons such as their relatively recent development and the claims they make, few religions, scientology and Jehovas Witness among them, are as verifiably and easily ascertained bullshit as the Mormons. The Book of Abraham for example is almost laughably in your face proven to be nonsense, and the humor in that is surpassed only by Fair Mormon and other apologetics contorted and tortured denials.Their tithing is another thing. You will be hard pressed to find any church with a more predatory practice, all members must pay it, no matter your financial condition, but, just like the phony televangelist, they justify it with their version of a gospel of wealth. Mind you, they insist the ten percent go to them, and not a charity, and they will not tell members how it is spent. I would describe Mormonism as nothing more than a cult, they meet a number of criteria for this. Maybe not on the level of Heaven's Gate or Jim Jones, as they don't physically harm those who leave (though there is a place reserved for them in the outer darkness), but still a cult.

I'd like to show you in the Bible that unfaithful people are not automatically thrusted to eternal torment, you will have to visualise the scriptures I share. Revelation 20:12-14 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Throughout all of Revelation 20 nothing is spoken of about faith and grace, only works. In verse 13 you can see those in hell were released from hell to stand before God, so they were in hell before they were even judged. Verse 14 then says hell is casted into the fire, but since everyone was delivered out to stand before God no one was casted into the fire with hell. Then when we look back at verse 12 it says everyone standing before God will be judged according to their works (not according to faith). So whether someone is casted into the fire or not is all dependant upon their works recorded in The Book of Life during mortality. Those who chose to do good works during their mortal state will be in the first resurrection and live during the millennium. Those who chose evil will be bound with Satan and released in the second resurrection after the millennium. So hell has two meanings, it's a place of rest while awaiting the final judgement or as you know we call it "Spirit Prison", then the second meaning is those casted into the fire after the final judgement according to their works. People are not automatically thrusted down to hell just for not having faith in Christ.

I don't belong to any denomination, but to an Atheist, how can Mormonism be seen as any more "wacky" than any other denomination or religion in the world? I've lived in Utah, been to Mormon churches and the "wackiest" to me growing up always seemed to be the Catholics with all their rituals and saints, and showing up to class with charcoal on their foreheads... or the people having seizures on the floor and yelling in tongues...

this is an excellent and educational video. thank you. i never knew about the persecutions against mormons. frightening, especially now considering the rise of christian nationalism.

As a Wiccan who is curious about learning about all the religions I can in as unbiased a way as possible, this really is a great video. It’s a shame that the mainstream media tends to paint Mormonism as this taboo thing to be unacceptable and evil. To me, no religion is evil, just misunderstood. Thanks for the info!

Hi I have a question if anyone can respectfully clarify. Why do Mormons so aggressively pursue missionary work and “spreading the word” (with the ultimate goal of converting people) when article 11 exists? Like the amount of times I’ve been approached by missionaries in public and I tell them I’m sorry but I’m not interested, I’m Jewish, and they still continue to try and give me pamphlets and pursue a conversation with me that is very clearly religiously motivated. Isn’t that a contradiction? If someone tells them that they already have a belief set and they continue to try and ask you to see it their way?

I like how it says that they'll follow the Bible if it's properly translated, yet we need to just take the word of Joseph Smith that "translated" the so called golden plated properly. Plates which he translated by placing his face in a hat that had a "seer stone" in it. Oh and no one ever actually saw or got a copy of the writing on the original plates.

Actually, there are 11 official witnesses who saw the gold plates and a few other unofficial ones as well. Also though, we don't have to take his word for it at all because we can pray to know the truth of it

I must say, this is one of the best synopsis of a whole religion I've seen. Compared to the BS on most of the other YT channels about Mormonism this is gold. And its fair and accurate based on what real Mormons actually believe in spite of what ex-Mormons and actual enemies try to tell you about the religion. I used to be a Mormon and I'm sickened by all the hyperbole on YT. I don't understand where those people are going with their criticisms. What do they really want just to ridicule and demean another's faith? They need to get a life.

It's Lehi's vision. Once you make it to the Great and Spacious Building, there is nothing to do but turn around and mock? But I do believe that those standing under the tree of life that represents God's love are from various religious and faith backgrounds. Anyone can seek out and taste of the fruit if that is what they are longing to find.

Joseph Smith didn’t translate anything from “golden plates.” It’s a known fact. What he actually did was stuff his face in a hat with a peep stone in the bottom. Joseph claims that words were revealed to him via this magical stone - in the dark, with his face stuffed into a hat.

I was looking for a video that explained the religion without an obvious bias and had a hard time till I found this one. Thank you. I'm not a religious person myself and have found those who follow Mormonism to be some of the nicest folks with well mannered and disciplined children. I know that sounds corny, but in this day and age, that's extraordinary. Our close friends out here are Mormon and I wanted to learn about their religion so as not to offend.

Joseph Smith and every LDS prophet since him have preached a gospel of “do,” negating the gospel of “done” that Jesus preached and was. The LDS church is all about what it and its members must still do and be if they want to live with God (and be a god) one day. The true church is all about proclaiming what Christ has DONE to make us right with God now for all eternity. It’s a certainty. Jesus Christ canceled the record of debt that was held against us when He shed his blood, on the cross, died and rose again. All you need to do is accept Christ by faith. It isn't because of who you are and what you must do for God. It is because of who God is and what He did for you in sending Jesus to be the sacrificial offering for your sins. To be your substitute on the cross and to satisfy the demands of God's law that stands against you. Christ has done the one work that was necessary to reconcile you to God. Christ has done the one act of righteousness that could bring justification and life to all men. All Christ is asking with open arms is for you to lay down your religiosity and works at the foot of the cross and allow Christ to take it. Salvation is quite simple. Luke 18 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

You got a few things mixed up with what happens after death but All in all very well done
