What is Modernization? (Reason, Humanism, Progress) | Syed Sardar Ali
Modernization of non-Western societies does not necessarily lead to institutions that are replicas of the West. On the other hand, there are Western ideas without which modernization can never proceed. These include reason, Humanism, and progress. Use of abstract reason was pioneered by the Greeks. It bore fruits two millenniums later in the form of empirical science. Humanism is the impulse to be the author of one’s own life. It is giving primacy to life on earth over otherworldly concerns. Progress means the creation of an ideal society through human effort rather than its search in the past.
About the speaker:
Syed Sardar Ali did his F.Sc. from Govt. College Lahore and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his first master’s degree in International Relations from Japan and worked for Sony Corporation and the Industrial Bank of Japan in Tokyo. He later earned Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard where he was a student of Prof. Samuel Huntington. Upon graduation he joined the World Bank in Washington, DC and worked in the Financial and Private Sector Unit in the Europe and Central Asia region until 2002. Sardar Ali, who runs a number of businesses in Islamabad and Lahore, is the Chairperson of Crescent Foundation.

From the comment section, it is pretty much clear that almost all subscribers and frequent viewers are INDIANS 🇮🇳. I am Pakistani 🇵🇰 but our society has become something so weird, so orthodox, so unreasonable that only half are mullahs and the other half are beardless mullahs, who are even more dangerous. India, surely has gone ahead of us almost 70 or 90 years, except the current BJP, which will fade away after Congress retakes the government

Congress is not coming back, it is organizationally inefficient and incompetent. What will happen is all the intellectual heavyweights from Congress will jump ship to BJP and ultimately moderate BJP ideology to keep the crazies in check. AAP and TMC will fight to become the new congress and compete in the states to compete. Indian Islam will be reformed to remove kafir and jihad theology as hinduism was forced to give up caste. All these fools that keep saying that India doesn't understand rationality or humanism are going to be forced to eat humble pie, they are too busy making a boogeyman out of hindutva to notice the changes on the ground.

@gooogle1592 Secularism will remain. The idea of Hindurashtra is divisive. It will end our country if you try to implement it. Sikhs, Muslims, Dalits will not accept it. That is why RSS chief cites Savarkar who called Hindu as not a religion but anybody who lives near Sindhu river. So culture. Nd India is progressing since 1990 reforms. Modi did demonization and it cost us. I support GST regime but implementation was done haphazardly. Stick to the constitutional ethos which freedom fighters enshrined in our constitution. Not some bs you learn on KZread and whatsapp.

Indians don't have such a program and they are furious and jealous about it. If India had such a program, all the talkers would be jailed by the Hindu Raj for sedition.
Had Muslims of the subcontinent moved along other communities,there would have been no need of separate Muslim country
