What is Marine Combat Training? - U.S. Marine Corps
Every Marine regardless of their role completes an infantry skills course after they graduate recruit training. Marine Combat Training (MCT) is where basically trained Marines with non-infantry Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) learn to become riflemen.

MCT should be 0311 ITB, and the one month MCT should be integrated into the 3 month boot camp curriculum. Less drill, more kill.

Agreed. Spent so much time at boot camp doing absolutely fuck all. You don't even have to remove drill to fit in the training we got at MCT.

drill teaches obedience to orders which is very important in combat
Graduated from MCRD West and went to MCT West. I have 2 weeks until I graduate MOS school and I STILL miss MCT. The fastest and most fun month of my life

@@NgJackal1990yes? Every marine has to go to MCT after bootcamp, it's a requirement, unless you're doing infantry or an infantry MOS, you do MCT then go to your schoolhouse straight after

According to my son who is there right now, they took out courses on the following (for his class): the 240, grenades, and MOUT. That's unsat.

Hm, idk if he was a unique case, but that sounds like them moving towards the "eh, you're not infantry so you don't need to know this shit anyway" mindset of doing things. Army basic training started to really move that way after I graduated in 2018, but even my class got hints of it. It probably also had to do with our schedule being crunched because it was full of National Guard and Reserve high school kids using their summer to do basic training. Along with our M4s we got to train on the M249, M240, M320, and grenades. Didn't get to shoot the AT4 though. Once I got to AIT and talked to others about their basic experiences, 99% of them only touched an M4. It sounded so off to me.

that one time in my life when i was at SOI-East and there were 38 marine that hyped out because it was pouring rain and cold as hell outside and the instructors didn't care and made us sleep in tents- Fox CO 1st Plt 2023

Marine Combat training is useless 4th phase boot camp to sum it all up. Went through it in 2010 wasn't anything but a waste of time and resources. But I got to throw a grenade and shoot some guns.
