Well that's why old European paintings show people with fat and curves and called them beautiful. Because back in those times being skinny was due to poverty - having fat meant that you were wealthy and well-fed.

Michael Decker I don't need to get my facts straight. It doesn't matter if they followed the coach or not. It was entirely their own fault for going into a deep ass cave with narrow passageways and for what? Did they expect Buddha to appear before them and give them blessings? And btw they went into the long ass swerving cave knowing full well its rainy season in all of Asia and places are getting flooded left right and center. Forgive me for thinking straight, but would it not have been an extremely good idea to go there in the summer next year hmm? Are these kids not old enough to think before they act or what? They were asking for it and they deserved it. They had it coming.

Ray Mak why are you everywhere?
While the physiological changes are universal, I believe the cultural background, as well as the leadership of the coach in regards to meditation, made a big difference. Thai culture, with a Buddhist background, teaches acceptance. That’s always an important first step in survival - acceptance of your situation. Add to that the capabilities of meditation. The main purpose of meditation is to quiet the mind. When my mother was told by her doctor that she had uterine cancer she didn’t break down in hysterics like you see in the movies. She just acknowledged that she heard the doctor. He misunderstood and thought she didn’t quite understand the diagnosis due to a language barrier, so he called my sister into the office to translate. My sister explained that there was no such problem and that our mom actually used to be a nurse. So she understood quite clearly. The doctor said in all his years of practice he had never experienced anything like it.

Was wondering when the trolls would start showing up. Using the F-word is highly indicative. Either that, or someone needs to lay off the juice. It is established science that it grows your muscles... but makes you aggressive and shrinks your man parts, if there was anything to shrink in the first place. There’s always also being a troll on roids 🙄

What some documentaries might not mentioned that those farmers whose padi field got flooded when the diverted the cave water refused to accept compensation from the government. They said that the country has given enough to rescue the boys. They should contribute too. And the boys parents never blame the coach. What a great nation.

Went on a tour through a cave and they showed us what it’s like without light. If you’ve never experienced it before, I can tell you it is dark... very... very dark. Absolute pitch black and it feels like you’re blind because you’re so used to the moonlight lighting up the night. I couldn’t imagine what these kids went through.

I did a cave tour and the tour guide asked if she could turn off the lights for a few moments to show absolute darkness. She did... Within 3 seconds I started to have a panic attack because you can imagine what it would be like if you could never find your way out. It was truly terrifying. Even when the lights were turned on in was extremely claustrophobic and couldn't enjoy the tour any longer. So 9 days.... Nothing short of a miracle.
They were so sweet. They were saying thank you even when nothing had been done yet. Pure innocent souls.
The leadership of the coach and the strength of the kids is admirable.

I've been through a guided tour in a famous underground cave in the Philippines and I tell you It's just pitch black if there's no light. For a second I was so anxious that I decided never to do any kind of caving activity again. Our group went to another cave in a different island and I wouldn't dare come in even for a just a few meters near the cave entrance.
I'm so glad they created a diagram because the entire time this was happening I was so confused about how they are in a flooded cave
Imagine seating there looking into the water then here come some bright ray of light. Damn they didn't even while. They are really strong kids. Props to all people efforts and salute to all who lost their lives while on the rescue mission.
Thanks, for all the help to our Thais, they would not be able to come out with out every one. All love to every 9be from the Thais. ~~

Good thing that they've been rescued
Americans and Europeans psychologists commenting on this story are unaware of significant cultural differences between east and west. For instance, so-called "mental illness", which is like a trendy fashion in the West, is almost non-existent in Asia. These boys not only asian, but poor - only one had cell phone. But maybe all had flashlights - led flashlights last a long time. Poor rural thai boys don't have a lot of electronic diversions and facebook obsession, so easier for them to endure. Not saying it was easy, but easier. Now the boys have had heads shaved and going to buddhist monestary - that is for atonement and psychological well being and to keep media away from them. If the boys were American, all would be put on psych meds and they would be forming a boy band to capitalize on their fame, with no shame for causing the death of one rescuer.
@angelaa5605
5 жыл бұрын
rh001YT rh001YT agree with cultural differences, but mental illness as a trend that is almost non existent in Asia? Come on. Try to google "suicide rate by country" and see where the top countries are from. Just because people in Asia talk about it less, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And your presumption about Americans is, sorry to say, disgusting. I'm a thai and I'm thankful for the American medias who brought up this issue to the light, also their help and honor for the fallen hero in many forms. Since the issue has been raised, more professional divers from all over the world volunteered to help (Finnish, British, Danish, etc). Even Elon Musk who happened to be American offered another method to rescue the boys with advanced techs for free. The families also received lots of support thanks to the exposure (and of course Thai govt). The media could be cruel and unfairly monetized sometimes, and I agree that their decision to heal their minds for now is the best decision. But please be respectful towards everyone by at least, not making any irrational judgment over someone's race or nationality. No hate 🙏

Hi. Suicide rate for Asia is low compared with the rest of the world, there being 2 exceptions, Sri Lanka and S. Korea. In the case of S. Korea the rate is highest among poor rural elderly, who, it is claimed, don't want to be a burden on their family. Sri Lanka...I don't know what the main driver is, though I suspect poverty. India, which ranks lower than one might expect, would rank even lower if not for suicide among totally ruined and impoverished farmers. Thailand ranks up around 46 out of 183, which is higher than I expected, but may be due to poverty. Somewhat high rank of Thailand may be related to significant "recreational" drug use...significant when compared with the rest of Asia. There's a difference between suicide due to really bad circumstances and mental illness as a fashion statement in USA. I'm not making any irrational judgements over race or nationality. I am Caucasian American and I see all the phony mental illness here with my own eyes. There's a lot of people from Asia in USA and the general opinion is that they're very mentally stable. USA media did little except echo reports from British media. Obviously England has historical ties in Thailand. I greatly respected Thai govt. for keeping media away from rescue operation and barely speaking to the media about it at all. BTW, Elon Musk seems to have jumped in for publicity and at least one of the rescue divers said that his (Musk's) capsule would not have fit through some of the tightest turns in the escape route.

The American kids wouldn’t have been dumb enough to go into that cave in the first place Why is literally everyone who isn’t American saying “oh those dumb fat ass Americans wouldn’t survive” why are ppl who have probably never been to America hating on us??? Are ppl jealous or have you just seen what the news says which is usually wrong and now everyone thinks we all fat, do your research not all of us live at McDonalds and not all of us are obsessed with our devices 🙄🙄 (Sorry if that was harsh I’m just upset with all these comments hating on one country that is a wonderful country like all of the other countries have problems to its not just America)

Americans saved the kids dumbass
From what I understand they had flashlights. That doesn’t take away from the fear and isolation they experienced
