If you're invited round to someone's house for dinner and start eating without waiting for people to sit down and get their food - very rude. But as a Scot, I always just forget this one :/

I'm becoming kind of addicted , it seems .One never stops learning when immersed in the study of a language , one keeps learning and this is great .Vielleicht können wir das Leidenschaft nennen .I'm grateful to TV series back in the early seventies such as " The Avengers " or " the Forsyte Saga " for getting me hooked on the English language .I did make a huge discovery then and its effects live on.

Hi Mitch. I wish you all the best for 2024. I'm sorry but I disagree with the guy who said that spitting out in France is normal! We consider that is also very rude in France ! It's a misconception yet!

Speaking as a half Brit half Australian about differences I've noticed! :D I think meetings with people (even with family) are seen as more formal occasions than they are in Australia. In the UK if you invite someone over you need to clean up before the guest arrives and enter what I affectionately like to call "the British Mad Panic Mode" before they show up. If you refuse to tidy before a guest arrives your family/anyone you're living with will get mad at you. To be honest no one tidies up before guests arrive in Australia. I'd say British culture is almost entirely image-based, so in essence you need to protect your image and the image of people close to you if you want to be polite. In Australia I could run around outside with no shoes on and no one would care because this cultural facet doesn't exist in Australia. In the UK I would be giving people a bad image of me by doing that (they'd be like "Uhhh, wtf is his problem?"), AND I'd be ruining the image of anyone close to me because people'd associate them with me and what I'm doing. Hence, rude. Almost all the things mentioned in this video are reflections of the UK's image-based culture I've observed. Oh, and another cultural no-no in the UK no one mentioned: eating food while standing up. Find a seat first, please. ;)

Hiya Easy English! Very very useful. People talk about that with simpathy and good mood. Something might be rude and sometimes dangerous in great cities is forgetting the rule to kepping to the right, leaving the left free for whoever comes. That's it? Or is just an exageratted impression?

Spitting is not considered rude where I come from but it should be outlawed all over the world and heavy fines should be applied! Also cutting a line (queue) should be illegal as well and people should be fined for not doing it! Also being later than 15 minutes is disrespectful and I am not even German but my soul must be! 😅

A lot of things that are culturally/socially acceptable in 🇬🇧 are actually not culturally/socially accepted in most countries. 😑 In terms of queuing, I have seen MANY Brits not doing it. In terms of being "terribly polite", a lot of it involves being passive-agressive.
