your video is very informative in explaining that as power changes so must PSI. People who watch most KZread tuning videos only understand "oh, just add fuel. oh get bigger injectors, etc". what Rob is explaining that each injector has a sweet spot of PSI and this is crucial for tuning high power engines. this is why "adding big injectors" isn't a smart mod for most of you guys since you aren't properly feeding the injectors with enough PSI and are probably over working the stock pump. "adding bigger injectors" without proper PSI will lead to the dribble, which will lead to idle problems and low end power decrease

Ur partially right, adding a bigger pump and bigger injectors and properly tuning ur engine using software or a standalone ecu or ramping the factory ecu is another story. However, using a fuel pressure regulator, usually rising rate, is a mechanical way of increasing ur fuel that is sent to the engine, so that u dont have to deal with tuning ur engine as much.
This video really Dahms it down for me good! Nice work Rob.
Rob you're much smarter than Bill Nye. Don't put yourself down like that

First of all thank you, now it makes sense. I had a rough idea of how it regulates fuel pressure but that simple demonstration did it for me. Now second thing is the ending was so immature but funny as hell at the same time haha. Love your videos man. Good job
I subscribed to this channel for 4WD RX7 but now it's like Engineering Explained. But I'm not disappointed.

@@RobDahm I'm using a tbi pump to a qft bypass reg to a proform 650 does the manifold tube have to used and guessing that tube is on the outlet side?
More of these videos explaining stuff please 😊
Actually learned a lot Rob, thanks!
Great video I enjoyed all of it😂😂 love the way you demonstrated it.
This is the one of the best explanations on youtube on this subject and I've watched many.
Dude I think mine went and and just as I was thinking about it this video came up, I didn't know what it was until now, thanks so much!
Thank you for the great video! I loved the illustration as well 😂
You have such a pleasing voice
Hello Rob, Nice video and keep up the good work...
Love the video. Going to add an aftermarket fpr to my 4AGE.
Very Educational Thank you Rob
Good job explaining this Rob !
Great explanation!
Thanks Rob Dahm, that was very informative.
lol seeing rob in a hardy shirt is trippy
Helpful video!
Can you explain an oil catch can, and will I need one for my upcoming boosted ka?

Good video, do fuel regs play the same role in turbo two stroke applications?
awesome video, lmao another gold ending!
Good, suscribed
Thank you mate. Great video Hay, can you tell me how can I find the correct fuel pressure should any vehicle has? where online can this info be found.
In this video. rob shows us a bong he made out of a 2 liter bottle and one with a water gun
I love the fact that even tho I watched this a few years ago when it came out that as soon as I saw it I had to watch it again.
Holy shit that was unexpectedly educational. Very well explained. Thank you.
Is fuel regulator can install into a carb engine?
Nice 👍
What happens if u plug up the vacuum line on the fpr
so glad that bottle bong was at 4:20
Love the water gun Rob.
Pls correct me if i am wrong; Injector is not inside the cylinder(located behind the vavles) and hence no pressured air would block the fuel injection.
Hello rob i wanted to get into rotary and i got a question, how many miles are the apex seals good for before i should change them?
Bit long, but referencing the regulator to intake vacuum instead of atmosphere provides some flow modulation in that it swings the effective setpoint of the regulator on demand tweaking lbs/hr available from the injectors. A sensor mounted on the fuel rail referenced to atmosphere would show pressure changes as engine demand went up and down.
Hi, I'm rob dahm. I'll never get over that
I always thought the vacuum line was teed into the system only for the "rising rate" fpr's that raise pressure when in boost. Wonder how a rising rate fpr is mechanically different.
Hello from Argentina! Great video! I first want to say that I'm really new on EFI, I'm trying to learn to convert an old carburator car and I know I can really sound like an idiot with my question.. but what I don't understand and I would really appreciate your comments is what about the regulators without the vacum/boost port? For ex in the case the throttle is closed you'll get a higher dP through the injector and that means higher fuel flow on the same injection time than the rated dP. is there any way to compensate with tunning? lowering injection time? Thanks in advance!
Where do you load the weed?
My turbo slice still hasn't arrived who do I take that up with?
What I don’t understand is that on a turbo car manifold pressure will be positive whereas on a non turbo it will be a depression. After market pressure regulators don’t mention turbo or non-turbo
I have a question Rob, what bringed you into cars? Following from Italy^^
I diagnosed my bmw e46 318d. And it said fuel pressure regulator cuircut low. I didnt have the diagnose thing before. But i car suddenly got super slow but wasnt in safe mode. So i thought it was the turbo and changed it. But the car was still as slow as it was before. Then i diagnosed it
In this video, Rob Dahm test his boosted water weapons for an attack against Rob Spaghetti's noodles.
Every time I asked the car accessories shop people, they can't explain a thing, thanks for sharing.
We need a Rob Dahm aesthetic appreciation day. Seriously. This man is attractive. God damn it. And fine. I'll continue the meme. Rotor 4 is the where, Rob?
i had never thought of that. i mean i figured it was something like that when ypu made the bong, i mean water gun, but now i know that
How does the vacuum line hook up to the fuel regulator? Does it come from the factory assembled wrong?
can i use this on stock injectors?
I get F1007 and F1014 codes still searching what they mean. Somebody suggesting it may be crankshaft or timing issue, maybe crankshaft sensor, but I doubt car could be out of timing as it was not opened. Someone suggesting it’s a fuel problem perhaps too much fuel. It’s a Peugeot 207, any idea where to start?
The ending was priceless bro. I was drinking water when you said that's totally after sex and laughed so hard my mouth became a fuel injector. XD
Next video, what are tires and why does a car need them lol
If the fuel comes in from the fuel rail on the left, and the regulator lets fuel go through it and back to the tank if the pressure is too high, then what is the pipe below the vacuum pipe on the right for..?
Explain how a squirt gun works.. Or magnets!
Bicycle inner tube valve stem . I think he said bicycle pump gauge . We all know what he meant but just for the record .... not trying to be a smarty jack just clearing. Nice vid .
Basically, the regulator maintains the 40psi differential. If the intake was pressurized to 20psi from a supercharger, the regulator would sense that 20 psi, and then automatically adjust the fuel pressure up, by 40psi (60psi in the fuel rail total) .
So does this also include carburated vehicles. Cause I hardly ever see this on a carbureted car.
i love you
é MoiśT Power-Phull Explain-Ásiân 👍👍👍
so you have to have more fuel pressure than boost pressure?
Ah wake me up before you go go!! George Michael is so hot working on car engines!
why's rob making bongs?
My plastic 6mm vacuum hose is disconnected how do i fix that
Would a old fuel pressure regulator cause a hot start issue? Turn car off and fuel up, pay for fuel come out won't start
A donde está el 4 rotor Robster?
Does anyone know what those connections are holding the regulator to the fuel pressure rail the 2 blue and red pease in the middle 1:00

Rob Dahm would you like to enjoy your fried chicken after its been in the fridge for a day? let me show you how...
Where should i hook the fuel pressure to the manifold.
You trying to explain this with pop bottles and squirt guns is comiccal
How would that szenario change if it would be a n/a engine?
@Meyersmanx1
5 жыл бұрын
It really doesn't change, vacuum from the intake manifold still creates vacuum, the FPR still senses that vacuum and adjusts the fuel "take or put". When you hit the throttle under acceleration the intake creates more vacuum, the FPR sees that increased vacuum on the diaphragm inside the FPR. The diaphragm moves allowing more fuel (in aviation we call it "putting"). When you take your foot off the throttle, the intake draws less vacuum, the diaphragm sees Less vacuum then reseats and "puts less" also referred to as taking. Rephrased putting is putting in more fuel to the injection or carb, and taking is taking fuel away from the injection or carb. Adding a turbo Just increases vacuum and so increases the put. Does that make sense?
Dahm, the 4 Rob rotor is where?
As my friends call it the fuel spray thingy
My reg doesn't have a fuel-return or vac line :(
Next episode, the engine and what it does.
is that a venom fuel rail?
what if connecting hose is damaged?
the title says it all lmao
So what's the problem with having too much pressure?
@InsideOfMyOwnMind
6 жыл бұрын
Because when you pee it gets all over everywhere
A fuel pressure regulator. Is an object that regulator fuel pressure.. And the intake tube is to get vacuum
What is the purpose of a mustang? Driving or Killing? Why is it linked to car meets and crowds?
If this is true why didn't all new vehicles all the way back it the 70s come factory with a FPR ?
But my webber carb requires only 1.5 lbs of pressure.
4 rotor?
i climbed the wu tang mountain and i asked the Dolly Lama where the rotors at. he answered: rob is the 4th rotor.
How is the fuel regulator installed???????????
