Amazon PQY Fuel Pressure Regulator VS Aeromotive 13129 comparison you make the call.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Sorry for video length, but I am trying to convey the story clear and concise.
I originally purchased the Aeromotive 13129 but have not been happy with the way it's been acting. I have since purchased the PQY unit to do some testing with. i paid for this regulator out of pocket. No free stuff here. I have about 50 miles on the new regulator and my original complaint has not resurfaced so far. I will report back if it does.

    When hooking up the vacuum line, it is suppose to drop the pressure. It is compensating for the vacuum in the intake. When you have vacuum in the intake and the injector fires, the vacuum sucks more fuel through the injector,. So the drop helps maintain the delta across the injectors. Just when you go into boost, it raises pressure to offset the boost pressure in the intake. Works both ways.

    @@PNW_Car_Mods Honestly I’ve had higher failure rates with Aeromotive than I have with the China knockoffs. Which is sad really. I think I actually mentioned it in one of my videos but the last Aeromotive regulator I bought was probably 10 years ago and it lasted less than 6 months before the diaphragm got a small crack and started causing erratic pressure issues. In their defense Aeromotive actually sent me a new diaphragm free. But I decided to try a $35 China knockoff after that and that regulator lasted me for several years with no issues, then was sold with the truck and to my knowledge is still functioning today. Since then all I’ve used on my builds is the China knockoffs. The one I currently have on Chaos Theory is an exact knockoff of the Aeromotive 13301 but was like $25. It’s the first time I’ve used that design and it’s a lot smaller than the ones I generally use so I just wanted to try it out. So far I think it’s doing ok but we’ll see.

    Thanks for making this video. Your car looks immaculate. :) I was watching the entire video but it didn't address my "problem". How long does your regulator hold the pressure? Mine drops from 58psi to 43psi as soon as I shut the engine. Then it climbs down very slowly (15mins) to about 14 psi. In 1 hour it shows zero. Watching the video I can see that your regulator acts the similar way. So is this a problem or not? Many say that regulators should hold the pressure for about a day before the pressure starts to drop. Is that true with these regulators or that statement applies to stock regulators only? I just want to find out if this pressure drop is totally normal or a faulty regulator.

  • @PNW_Car_Mods

    @PNW_Car_Mods

    Mine drops fairly quickly most of the time. Some days it will hold half for like an hour but most of the time it drops to half within in a minute or two and drops to zero within a couple hours. I have never seen a non factory system hold pressure myself. That being said the simple answer is, does your engine start as it should? If yes, then don't worry about it.

    Are u still running that ghost cam on the LSA 408…….im at the point where i need to get a cam and im just trying to figure out which route to go…..im at 9.8/10:1 compression with a 3.42 posi and 3000 stall built 4l65e…..the current 370 is 11.15:1 with a 220/230-.558”/.558”-117+4* cam and with the stall and gears with 2.45 pulley it works great and is very streetable and works with my vacuum brake booster…..id like the same with my 408 but i know the 220/230 cam would be like a stock cam in that big of a motor…….do you think a 114 Lobe seperation angle cam would be to narrow with our LSA blowers……should i just run with the ghost cam?? Do they make something a hair more aggressive…..if i recall you said you made around 650 whp with that cam right???…..i havent started to tear down the car yet so i have time to decide on which dierection i wanna go with the cam seeing as how my 15yr old son just recently talked me and my wife into getting him a ‘67 mustang coupe 289”…….were dailing it all in for him and im adding an efi kit for him (aces efi)…and at the same time we picked up a late model (‘96) 302 roller motor for us to build up together for when he graduates from that tired 200hp 289….. we got new forged flat tops and 58cc chamber aluminum heads to bring that anemic 8.5:1 cr to around 10.0:1 and hopefully over or close to 300whp (which is more than enough for a teenage boy in a 2800lb car thats over 55 yrs old)……ultimately id love to LS swap it but id have to fabricate some type of exhaust manifolds or headers along with the motor mounts…..so we just said fuck it and we’ll give the ford 302 a try considering its a dierect bolt in and all the misc. 289 parts will swap right over to the 302, including the ACES efi kit…..the efi kit even comes with a 3 bar map sensor….so if he is redponsible and does well and doesnt get any speeding tickets …….maybe, just maybe when he turns 21 we will bolt on a turbo kit…..that is unless theyve came out with a direct bolt in LS swap kit first……im just learning this ford stuff and its literally ass backwards too me😂😂😂……but between me, google, and youtube we’ll figure it out ……with the help of my paypal mastercard of course😂😂😂

At least not for a while. My take on any boost cam is more about overlap vs lobe seperation. You don't want overlap. The ghost cam has no overlap. Now I just wish they would make a plus sized ghost cam lol.
