What if You Lived on Trappist -1e?

You wake up and open your eyes. The sun always hangs in the west, on the horizon, exactly where it is before you sleep and throughout the rest of the day that follows. There's always been not one, not two, but six crescent moons strewn across the sky. And the weeds in your front yard have always been jet-black. What would it be like to live on another planet?

There's something beautiful about the phrase: "and so all of you, humans from across the galaxy, adapt to the strangeness of Earth together". Also, I would watch that show.
I believe it's so important to look up and direct our eyes to the stars instead of the ground. It makes you dream, it makes you hope, it makes you wonder.
It's a calming source of existential dread, to think that there would be humans in the far future capable of exploring the galaxy is a wonder. It might only be a slim chance, but we as humans have evolved to be quite tenacious yet ever so fragile. Imagining how drastic the different exoplanets within reach are, in maybe a few dozen generations we could probably see change in those faraway humans.

@lmaomoofeq I think it's the case of counting the hits and ignoring the misses. The Earth has a tilt, and so does the Moon's orbit. Does that seem balanced? And the Moon doesn't maintain its orbit, it's getting closer to us. The number of days in a year is not a whole number. There's more water on Earth's surface then there is dry land. Matter GREATLY outweighs anti-matter. SOME things are balanced. Others are not. And when we're talking about such wast groups as "a thing" and as vague concepts as "balanced", I don't think it's possible to tell if there are more of one or the other. And those things that are balanced have a reason to be this way. Two stars circling around their center of mass, staying at the same distance from each other. Had their masses and distance not been "balanced" they would crash into each other and there would only be one star. Or to be more specific, they wouldn't even form as two separate stars in the first place. If herbivors weren't "balanced" with the amount of plants in their area, most of them would die and the balance would be reached once again. Some systems create balance, others don't. And there's nothing weird or miraculous about it. That's just nature.
i think the feeling of being alien would be so cool like your apart of the world you've come to but so distant from it in the same matter what a cool feeling.
please make more planet related videos like these. id love to see how life would be like on a water-world.

It's an interesting idea that in the far future the earth would literally become the capital world of the universe. Just like how it was implied in the video. In the end, despite having discovered other planets and inhabiting them we would still go back to earth.

To me, it feels like an existential race against time that we’ll never live to see the end of. In a few billion years, the Earth will be swallowed by the sun. So it’d be a good idea for humanity to start talking about space travel, so we can reach further solar systems that could give our descendants the chance to live as good of lives as we strive for today.

We moved to New Mexico about 7 months ago from Sacramento CA I am able to see the Milky Way from our house. We don't live that far away from the largest city in the state and since Albuquerque does not have a lot of suburbs the light pollution goes away very quickly once you leave the populated areas. Truly spectacular getting to see it at our own front door when back in California you have to travel HOURS into the mountains or desert areas to catch a decent glimpse.

1:52 "the planet doesn't rotate anymore". It does in fact rotate. It's just tidally locked to it's star meaning the rotational period is the same as the orbital period thus always facing its star with the same side.
excellent story!

I like the fictional story format! Helps explain huge complex topics in a simple, easily accessible way. Top notch philosophy!
This would be such a great show
Fun fact its recently been proposed that convection currents and heat dissipation mean that the planet actually equalizes its temperature, the cool side warming and the warm side cooling meaning there is a much wider habitable region than originally thought. Otherwise the temperature differential in the habitable zone would likely cause horrific storms and pressure systems which would prevent habitation.
Damn this is a really cool video

This video is amazing. Should be 1/10
Just a nit-picky thing: I don’t think Trappist 1e would have any auroras because they require the planet to have a magnetic field, and a magnetic field requires (i think, but not certain. Correct me if I’m wrong?) a planet to be rotating. I could be mistaken, but I think I’m on the right track. Criticism/correction is of course welcomed!
@Highlandcorp
Жыл бұрын
Trappist 1e is still likely rotating, thus its possible to have a magnetic field
@bepis4094
Жыл бұрын
If a planet is tidally locked, it is still rotating, just with the same period as its orbit.
@sigisoltau6073
10 ай бұрын
Even without rotation it could still have a magnetic field. If the planet has a solid inner core and liquid outer core like earth, that's already a start. If there's a temperature difference between the inner/outer core boundary, and outer core/mantle boundary, this could cause convection currents to form in the outer core. If so then that could cause the planet to possibly have at least a weak magnetic field. Our magnetic field is caused by earth's rotation, and possibly by convection currents as well in the outer core.
When I'm feeling existential dread, videos like these have the tendency of cheering me up a little bit more. Not really sure why.
I love how we can travel across the galaxy but we still haven’t cured Jetlag
very poetic
That was beautiful
beautiful😍😍😍
VERY NICE
Great video! Just a slight correction. The planets in the star system would be tidally locked, but they would in fact rotate, only at the same speed as they orbit the star! This means that while the sun would be on the same place, the stars and other planets in the night sky would in fact move just like on Earth
This video makes me feel grateful I'm here in Earth..
This is the new disrupt
Our time as conscious entities of this universe is diminutive.
I could not imagine how sad it would be not being able to walk into my back yard and see all the stars at night.
thank you! another beautiful video, saved it under "late night list". I believe it will take almost 90,000 earth year to travel 40 light years one way using current technology...we would not be the same humans by the time we arrive to the new home.... Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light...
This is life on Trappist-1D.
Can't wait till the videos are JUST bass.
I would like to know where you got the information that the trappist planets are proven to not rotate on their axis, as far as I know, its still speculative as to if they do rotate or not
This is almost like red rising somewhat, really interesting indeed

What music do you use?
I haven't seen anyone talk about how crazy it would be being born there and actually not being able to explore a significant portion of the planet. Like wtf, an entire planet of pure mystery, one side a frozen land, the other enough to cook you.. Imagine the idea that if you wander too far it will kill you
Trappist-1D sounds interesting
Trappist 1e is giving me severe Vormir vibes
As a person (15) with neurotransmitter dopamine deficiency, I can confirm that without them you lack... ▪︎ memory (forgetfulness) ▪︎ Good balance ▪︎less feelings of excitement ▪︎ And (as he said) if left untreated.. depression, anxiety, and worse ▪︎ motivation And so on. I experience lack of motivation even with the things I like and wish to achieve. For example: I like anime related art quite a lot and think it would be cool to one day make my own story with it. However I won't bring myself to study this anatomy so that I can get better and meet my goals. So I likely won't be able to do what I want to do. This lack of motivation also effects my ability to complete simple goals
