Master yoda was one of if not the most powerful jedi in the galaxy. he could manipulate the midichlorians around him to the extent that he could even controll ones force powers. he studied this so much that he could conroll anyone around him. he tought all his knowledge to his young padawan. unfortunately for him one day on the jedi council his padawan used this power to controll him and make him leave the council making his padawan the grand master and then he was never seen again. he was so overcome with seeking to have the power to controll others force to the point he wasn't able to controll his. huh ironic...

What if (in this theoretical for palpatine being trained), instead of trying to go for politics and "splintering" the jedi.. Palaptine used his innate desire for control to rise through the ranks of the order, eventually reaching master and rivalling Yoda on the jedi council due to his capability of persuasion and sheer power in the force. Then, using this power to make the council closer to gray jedi (thus allowing him to use his natural affinity for the dark side while also remaining "Good" in the eyes of the order) using an arguement sort of like "A knife in the hand of a doctor can save lives, but in the hands of a serial killer can end them, so why should we shoot ourselves in the foot by not using what is available?". The end result being that either the order splits with "Palpatinian" jedi, and the traditionalist jedi, OR the order listens to his remarks and eventually (possibly reluctantly agrees). This would then mean that, as the jedi became even more powerful in both the light and dark sides of the force, so too would Palpatine, and he would be regarded as the hero who saved the republic from splitting apart by sparking a change in the jedi order that no other person could've?

I like the idea of Sidious joining with the Jedi Order. He would work his way to gain a position of power into the Council. Smooth talk the Council to train Anakin personally, which would make the young Skywalker embrace the Dark Side sooner. Discrediting the Order from within by framing the Jedi of crimes or corrupting Jedi into committing acts against the Republic. In fact, much like Revan's Sith Empire, Palpatine could influence a Jedi Civil War.

I think it comes down to how young Palpatine is when the Jedi discover him in this scenario. If he grows up only knowing the teachings of the Jedi, I don't think he's going to be as susceptible to falling to the dark side.

I think Yoda would've recognized the darkness in him immediately, and refused to let him be trained as of Jedi and recommended that he had an accident

If I remember correctly, the novel explains that Palpatine was just naturally a psychopath. He enjoyed causing pain. But he was also very charismatic. He is basically Ted Bundy.

For clarification, a person who could take the lives of their family with no remorse for what they had done wrong would very much make them a psychopath. Sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies often go hand in hand when it comes to mass murderers.

Some people are unfortunately born with the inability to feel empathy, at least. It’s honestly quite sad. But I personally believe the Jedi can save younglings from that darkness. After all, they have Ki Adi Mundi, who discarded his emotions altogether over trying to master them.

I do think he would be able to hide it and pretend to be a servant of the light, I think that he might cause another schism within the Jedi order possibly leading to a similar situation like The New Sith wars or the hundred-year darkness.

I had the same thought, he most likely would gather a mass following in the Order and convince many Jedi to turn against the Council because they "turned" to the Dark side and effectively start a New Jedi Civil War.

I feel like Sidious bathes with at least 1 lightsaber nearby. Every Sith is afraid of death and Palpatine would've definitely been nervous since Maul, his first apprentice and best trained assassin, hated him so much more and had a habit of rising like a phoenix.

I agree he'd always be heavily influenced by the Dark Side. If he were to be trained, he'd be assigned to a master who's very experienced with such cases, perhaps even Yoda himself, and even then he'd still be hard to manage. However, it would probably take Plagieus to turn him entirely at this point, since Sheev would be indoctrinated with the Jedi code from a young age. Without Plagieus he'd still most likely leave the order, but he'd at least have the mindset that he can get what he wants by helping people on occasion. As such, if you take Plagieus out of the equation, we'd probably end up with a Palpatine who got himself cut a check. He'd still be ambitious and power-hungry, but he'd likely be less of a jerk. An empire ruled by former Jedi Palpatine as opposed to Sith Palpatine would still be extremely authoritarian but somewhat more humanitarian in nature. This empire would be ruled through a cult of personality, with Palpatine taking on a sort of "good guy" public persona while still being ultimately devoted to UNLIMITED POWER, rather than through fear. This would actually make things harder for the rebellion - instead of being seen as freedom fighters by anyone who wasn't completely taken by imperial propaganda, they'd be seen as terrorists and anarchists attempting to destroy the peace and order of the Empire by pretty much all but the most disloyal imperial subjects. And as such, fewer people would be willing to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

It sounds like Palpatine was a Sociopath. He murders people without remorse, he has no conscience, he's able to blend in almost effortlessly among long stretch of different people including Jedi and even seems to able to adjust his personality on the fly depending on the situation. This last part is very important as it distinguishes him from a Psychopath. A Psychopath is similar to a Sociopath except on one point: a Psychopath cannot adapt and will make the same mistakes over and over as emotionally they are unable to change themselves. A Sociopath is like an emotional chameleon.

Luke Stellar No, you are wrong, psychopaths and sociopaths are not so easily quantified. Sociopaths however, are the more cunning of the two, psychopaths, as far as I know, have a lack of emotional control for example. Sociopaths lack empathy.

However, the condition of psychopaths is definitely much more extreme than that of sociopaths. Psychopaths can blend in everyday situations much better and are far more calculating and charming than sociopaths who are impulsive, less organized, easily agitated and don't think things through like psychopaths. You should do a "what if" on what if Palpatine was born in the time of the old republic. Like a new player starting an inquisitor in the SWTOR MMO but its Palpatine. Love it see what he'd do to the galaxy with a full sith presence.

Sounds like the implication in the Plagueis novel is that Palpatine may have been a sociopath. That's an interesting thread to follow within the SW universe.

The dank side of the Memes is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his memes, which eventually, of course, he did. I don't think he ever be a master. Unless that was the new plan. But even so it is hard enough to mask the dark side of the force in front of masters for a long period of time. If he was a master he have to be with them all the time. The likelihood he reaches master is very low. But he could reach Jedi Knight then leaving after taking Jedi with him simalar to what happened with revan.

Good video! I do wish we would see a theory where Palpatine could potentially be good and maybe be a Sith or Jedi still in the theory. I've contemplated making my own variant of the theory, don't think I know enough yet though.

Wouldnt they have kept an eye on him at least even if they didnt take him on? I mean if you find baby hitler you dont just say that your not gonna teach him public speaking. Also I seem to recall that Bane specificially said that it was undesirable to take a Jedi as an apprentice due to their pension for turning back to their old ways and potentially revealing the Sith before the plan was complete. Once you are trained as a Jedi its just to easy for you to fall back into that path.

I think it might have been possible to steer ol' Sheev away from being a full-blown bad guy, but I don't know if the Jedi would have taken the steps necessary. They have a distressing habit of taking Force sensitives that don't fit the criteria for Jedi training and just shooing them away. Instead, if they had masters that could train Jedi that harnessed their inner darkness, but applied it towards more benevolent ends, then we might have wound up with more figures like Mace Windu.

Sociopathy can be treated, even managed. Palpatine wouldn't necessarily have turned out bad had the Jedi found him and had his darker inclinations treated. I don't buy the theory that he, or anyone, is inherently evil.

It's like when a person likes to drink a lot there's nothing you can do to want to change. The change has to come from within. No one can make you do anything. You can't be forced not to be drunk with power. It has to come from you and you alone. If you're not all those things than you can be encouraged to be otherwise. It's like people these days that like to convince someone that weed is not bad. It is bad if misused or used as a vice just like smoking tobacco is but no one can convince you of that unless you get sick and die or realize on your own that it is, but no one can make you see that unless you see that for yourself

It's not needed to be medicated. You just have to realize the error of your ways. What are you gonna do medicate yourself for every negative thing in the world? That's dumb. If you are your just dumb. You just have to change without the need for medication. You're not suffering from a brain disorder. It's just how people are. Unless you want to equate all of these negative feelings with craziness all of the time but that's not always the case. Some people change. Some people are like this because it's how the grew up to be because of past experiences. Some are just plain dark. Nothing changes them especially not some temporary sedative such as drugs. I'm not even taking about the part about sociopathy. I'm talking about how people are the way they are that has nothing to do with being a sociopath. Sociopaths are people with no feelings most of the time. Who don't care what they do and don't care about others people's feelings because they have no empathy or compassion. This doesn't always apply to everybody.

Would like to see a video about what happens if a star destroyer sized ship hits a planet at light speed. If there are any examples of that in legends or canon.

Hyperspace is not in the material plane. What happens is that the gravity well of the planet interferes with the vessel in questions hyperdrive field, the ship unexpectedly and catastrophically exits hyperspace, its hyperdrive explodes, and it suffers major structural damage.

I think its possible maybe that if they found palpatine when he was young and impressionable enough that he could maybe be good or at least far less evil. Maybe palpatine just needs to make a friend on the light side like if he was trained by Yoda or master yaddle or the whole council mentor and train him maybe that would be enough. Honestly probably not

I think if he was located by the Jedi at a young age but rejected because of the darkness sensed in him, the Jedi would have been 1000% more on guard and proactive in working against him if he were to appear on the galactic scene again. Not saying he couldn’t still find a way to topple the Republic and Jedi, but he would’ve had an immensely more difficult time working only from the outside.

Something I’ve really wanted to know for a while now is who would win in an all out galactic war, The Cabal empire from Destiny 2 or The Imperium empire from Warhammer 40k

Why would the jedi reject to train anyone from using the force due to them sensing darkness. If anything it'd be better to train him and hopefully steer them towards being good. Or at least into causing the least amount of harm
