Iris written wright (pun intended). She's not a stupid naive girl who tried to please both her sister and her lover. She knew what needed to be done and knew how to take drastic measures. That's why she worked with Misty and Godot in the first place. Well done

This is totally a case Raymond Shields would take. And he would be a much better lawyer for Iris than Mia, not only to get the least severe sentence as possible, but also to make peace with what she did.

Great video! It shows to me how Dahlia and Iris are similar, yet different. Iris kills because of love, Dahlia because of hate and greed. Which solidifies my headcanon that the enviroment where the sisters grew in had a major impact on their lives - that Iris would be like Dahlia if she grew up with her father (without Dahlia) and vice verca. And it's always good to see more of Iris and Dahlia!

*sigh* Let me confess that I am torn over this. On one hand, I get it, and I do think we shouldn't put it past Iris to do something like this, especially if it meant to keep Phoenix safe, but still for Iris to kill her sister, who she cared deeply for and essentially be put on trial yet again and will be incarcerated for a long time yet again, I hate this... It feels like both Dahlia and Iris are doomed to have gloomy futures no matter how you slice it. Like neither of them (especially Iris) can't catch a break. I don't WANT to believe Iris would stab her sister, but at the same time I do believe she is not as naive as some people see her, and it's not out of the realm of possibility. Still...This was tough to watch. Poor Phoenix. Poor Iris. Once again they're taken away from one another.

To be clear, that sepia tone scene at the start of the video is a scene straight out of Bridge To The Turnabout. Iris canonically says that she would've killed Dahlia if she knew what she was gonna do. That was what inspired this video.

@@nickolasobjectionlolstuff2837 Yeah, I understand, but again I find both of the sister's fates so tragic. It's no secret that Iris is one of my favorite characters and I like her relationship with Phoenix, so seeing Iris once again being put away yet again saddens me. It's like damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. The girl can't win. And that also goes for her sister. Plus she resorted to killing her own flesh and blood, that's gotta weigh on her, even if it was for a noble reason. It's just depressing. I wish there was a timeline where she and Dahlia grew up happily.

@@wingadept8793As a Dahlia fan, I also wonder what would happen if Iris and Dahlia grew together in a loving enviroment. Maybe in a temple with Bikini, maybe with their parents in Khurain village, but with Mia and Maya around. Would they get a happy ending they deserve?

Well, this video has been LONG overdue. Basically been working on it very slowly in tiny bits for... god knows how long now, really. This video is very different from my other two "What if?" videos in two major ways. 1. I think the biggest flaw with those other videos was that they sort of turned into narration dumps after awhile, skipping over stuff that wasn't that interesting. So I made it a point to use absolutely NONE of that in this one. 2. It doesn't recap the games. That also assists with the Number 1 major difference. Phoenix & Mia's conflict at the end feels a little weird, however, it is based on traits seen in game, albeit obscure ones. At the end of Bridge To The Turnabout, Phoenix laments that he couldn't "save" Godot, despite him being guilty, seemingly because his crime was committed to save Maya's life. (There's also obviously a touch of Phoenix's reasoning for defending Dahlia in Turnabout Memories in the video, considering he uses the same quote as there.) In Farewell My Turnabout, Mia is very unsupportive of Phoenix falsely fighting for Engarde's innocence, even though it's to save Maya's life. I had intended for a more traditional ending scene in the lobby after the fade out with Phoenix crying, perhaps set up for Mia becoming Phoenix's mentor and by extension the first game, but after trying and failing to come up with this scene for weeks, I finally caved and came to terms with the nontraditional ending. I think it hits harder anyways.

That was a good video. Like wingadept, I wasn't sure either about whether Iris would really kill Dahlia when the time came (and I still am not tbh), but the trial part sold it for me. Great job

I don't believe she would've done it if she gave it any thought, she wouldn't have premeditated it in any way. This was purely in the moment, fearing for Phoenix's life, and she felt immensely guilty afterwards. I think that's really the only way this works. ...then again, that's not how she framed it in Bridge To The Turnabout, so... Maybe we're all underestimating her, lol

@@nickolasobjectionlolstuff2837 given the way she was raised, I believe she claimed boldly in Bridge that she would have done it when the time came, but at the dire moment she would have hesitated badly. I can only see her killing Dahlia in a tussle, the exact way it appears in your vid

I feel like this would have been Justified self defense or justified homicide due to the scuffle, the poisoned medicine, and her intent to kill to get that poison bottle back. Or worse case scenario this would be a mitigation of self defense which would lighten her sentencing

Could've been if they fought for that sentencing, but Iris, due to her guilt from killing her sister, believed she deserved the Second Degree Murder charge.

I would like to ask one thing: would What Once Was happen in this what if? Like is it Dahlia that cares deeply in hearth for her sister, or a "different" Dahlia entirely?

The specific events of What Once Was obviously couldn't occur, seeing as Dahlia never went to prison for Iris to visit her in the first place. As for whether or not Dahlia cared about Iris beneath everything... entirely up to your own interpretation, it doesn't really impact the video either way. In terms of behind the scenes stuff... While writing, some bits of that What Once Was "Dahlia did care" did slip in, just because that was how I was used to writing her (even though I'm not convinced she cared in canon). The main example is her referring to Phoenix as "both of our problems", tying back to her whole mentality in What Once Was that, if Phoenix hadn't gotten involved, she still could've "saved" Iris. If you rewatch that opening with What Once Was in mind, you'll definitely see its DNA in there, although the connections weren't exactly intentional. Just a result of how I'm used to writing Dahlia. Do whatever you want with that info.

@@nickolasobjectionlolstuff2837 Thank you for answering my question. I was curious how you write characters - like if you already have their characterization when you wríte them in different videos (like their character being somewhat consistent) or if it's more like case to case scenario (like their character depending on a type of video you want to make). As for my interpretation, I would say that Dahlia hates Phoenix for "softening" her sister and thought by killing him, she will get her sister back. But that's mostly due to What Once Was, Dahlia in this video seems to be without that context just an asshole.
