1: Matt makes a cyberpunk city. 2: I wonder what his employers think of his eccentric engineering. 3: If you're going to cheat, see if you can make the MOST EFFICIENT motorways map you can. Traffic lights, motorways, and proper roads that don't get people stuck in lines like this episode. I think it would be cool looking, a mini city working like clockwork.

You notice how blocked up cars get just motorwaying their way along, because everyone wants to turn off the turnpike but has to wait for other cars to get off first. It's a traffic jam. But if he uses real world engineering and flow principals, I think he could make a pretty interesting and delicate system that operates nominally.

If you strategically place roads to prevent more locations from popping up while still leaving enough space for extra houses, and also connect your existing locations efficiently, with a bit of luck (meaning convenient spawning locations and good rewards each week) you can put your city into an almost infinite loop and your score will keep climbing into the thousands before the demand finally gets too high for your system to keep up. I once got a loop accidentally and reached 4 or 5 thousand (if I remember correctly) but more skilled players can apparently get way more with this method.

I haven't watched the entire video yet but I can imagine this will have three problems: 1, too many junctions slowing down traffic considerably; 2, very low efficiency with each house having their own motorway; 3, some shops and houses will literally become invisible/unreachable.

I’m sitting on the site of a huge highway construction project just attempting to even think about the elevation some of those flyovers would have to be at… 92 motorways. Impressive

This is just about the most accurate depiction ever of American transport planning attitudes! 😂

Making the highways semi-transparent would help a lot in this situation :) I wonder if the devs will add that feature in

Idea: try to use the motorways for a grid system. so that your trafic as fast lanes (maine streats) and normal lanes for getting to a destination.

with the infinite roads it would be interesting to see what happens if you fill the whole map with road. How does the game cope with having absolutely no place to spawn anything?

You start with one house and one store, so you'd need to supply that store. Cars will go extremely slow however since the whole road is a junction if you fill the map. And once the store updates, that one house will not be sufficient to supply it. (Also you have to keep up with the expanding map at all times lol). Source: Matt already did try it in one of the videos

Pretty sure the one stores demand will increase to fast to keep up with, but what's really fun is if you start removing roads to spawn more stuff, everything will pop basically at once and it's utter chaos

What if you let a community of houses spawn (by blocking shops from spawning but with some small space left) then fill the map with roads and connect the houses to the singular shop with a motorway that they all share

Then the game will spawn nothing. Really, I've tried it :)) But then it'll spawn "upside down shopping bags" like cracy.

The key is to reduce intersections as well as reduce the overall distance the cars drive. With unlimited motorways it's very easy to make someone drive across the whole map to a destination so instead of having a short, smart route they have a long and simple one. Nice video!

Just recently found your Mini Motorways videos and I enjoy them so much! Video idea?: I do wonder how it'd go if you do this with all motorways and then when you're far along, you delete all roads and connect them more efficiently. :)

I know this isn't the intended way to play the game. But they definitely need to add a way to make highways see through.

I would love to see the challenge where you connect a couple houses to the first store and then cover the rest of the board with roads to keep any other houses or stores from spawning

I think he already did that once. Not much fun tbh, making the entire map road will make cars go extremely slow, and updating stores won't get enough houses.

Since houses can't spawn on roads. You can pretty much cheese your way into making houses spawn in a particular area. A way to segregate even better everything. The ultimate segregation. If you don't want a house there. Build a parking ! Could be a pretty funny video too. And that's also how a lot of people made their high scores on this game

one thing about the motorway numbers, the numbers 5, 10, 15, 57, 60, 90, 91, just to name a few, are real life freeway numbers

The trick with the infinite roads level is to fill in EVERY spot, so only houses can spawn.

With this mod, you should cover the entire map in roads and see if it prevents any new houses or buildings from spawning. Could get the highest score with just 1 house and 1 building. It would be funny if that works.

Its funny that everytime you mod a game to be able to make a cool thumbnail but this time just playing the game modded gave you they crazy thumbnail you needed.

I suspect the math of average-intersections-per-trip shows a minimum involving some small amount of motorway sharing. Or more complex landing areas, shaped like a tree, on the way into each shop, to keep the number of intersections each car has to go through to a minimum. Like, if a car has one intersection to get onto a motorway, and one to get from the motorway into the store, that's better than most cars having three intersections to go through on the way into the store even if there are zero intersections to get onto their own private motorway. But also, every 25 motorways or so, delete all of the largest ones and re-build to make traffic as local as possible. Maybe that'd clear 5k points?

I think a good solution for the slowness that the cars had right at the shops' entrance is to have the motorways converge onto a road before entering the parking lot instead of the ends of the motorways being the road. I don't know if that made sense

You could try placing a road in every possible direction and place lights on every possible intersection. (You've kind of already done this, but with out the lights.)

I’m in a predicament where I can’t watch games RCE play games that I also play (mini motor, cities skylines, etc) because he finds a way to backwards, upside down, inside out, engineer the game in a way no one could think of. Meanwhile I’m sitting here with me eyes twitching, reaching for my inhaler.

Random idea popped in my head: what if *Mini Motorway Matt* played Mini Motorways and he put his entire narration voice pitched high? XD
