No this is set in Christmas 1995, Andy would've gifted the original non utility belt version. That version of buzz wouldn't be out till 1997 the video game comes out. This buzz lightyear without the utility belt is from the show. Andy watched as a kid.

What if Woody and Buzz switched places? Like, If Woody was a new favorite toy and thought he was actually a cowboy and Buzz is the jealous one.

I'm always assumed the reason Buzz thought he was the real buzz lightyear is because he's a powered toy. A full action figure that takes batteries and is in a way programmed. Which is why they can reset him. I don't think woody COULD think that. He's just a simple toy with a pull string

Kinda like when I used to play Halo but after borrowing Red Dead Redemption from a friend, I got hooked and bough my own copy.

The chaos between Zurg and Buzz would drive all the toys completely nuts. Buzz would be probably more hostile than Zurg was because Buzz see's them as defending his sworn enemy and views them all of Andy's toy's as villains. Zurg would actually be helpful in defending the others, especially Woody because he saved Zurg's life. Buzz would only let his guard down when he sees Zurg is capable of being good, and learns that he's a toy himself. Not sure if Woody would get in Al's hands in this timeline but most likely Andy would be too busy with Buzz and Zurg to get Woody's arm damaged. So very tricky on what would come afterwards but very cool what if.

As funny as Zerg rushing off to destroy Buzz at the end of the first movie would be, for the sake of Toy Story 2's plot, I would make it so Andy still got his puppy for Christmas instead. As for how the story would go: 1. Woody's arm isn't torn at the start of the film, since Andy wouldn't have the Hero 'Sherrif Woody' befriend the 'Evil Emperor Zurg'. 2. Despite this, Woody would still try to save Wheezy the Penguin from Andy's Mom's Garage Sale, thus setting the events of the movie in motion. 3. Since Woody wasn't damaged or abandoned, he keeps trying to escape, but the Prospector keeps foiling his attempts. During one of these attempts, Woody is damaged. 4. While Woody is being repaired, Zurg leads the other toys to rescue him, resulting in Utility Belt Buzz breaking out of Al's Toy Barn to 'Arrest Him'. 5. Woody once again attempts to escape, only for the Prospector to reveal his true colors. Zurg and the others arrive to help, only for Buzz to intervene, mistaking them as 'Zurg's Minions'. 6. Despite having come to terms with his role as a Toy, Zurg suffers a relapse and begins fighting Buzz. During the confusion, Al returns and gathers up the roundup gang. 7. Rex interupts the fight between Zurg & Buzz, revealing they came to rescue Woody. When Buzz demands to know why Zurg would help anyone, Zurg replies 'He's my Friend'. 8. The rest of the movie would happen pretty much the same, except Buzz would accompany the Toys to the airport and later return with them to Andy's house. 9. During the closing scenes, Woody thanks Zurg, promising they will be friends 'until infinity & beyond', upsetting both Zurg and Buzz, who start fighting once more.

But what about the third one? I believe when after all the roughhousing in the Caterpillars Room, Zurg manages to escape, saw one of Lotso’s goons gambling, they caught him and get tied up to a Lego Duplo chair, Lotso questioned Ken and his minions why is Zurg tied up, Zurg decided to pretend that he’s gonna join Lotso’s gang, Lotso accepts his proposal, the next day, Woody made it back to Sunnyside Daycare to rescue his friends, they’re alright but they said Zurg has gone bad again, Woody was shocked until The Chatter Telephone came and told them how they will escape from Sunnyside Daycare, that night all the toys began their escape, as their escape was successful, Zurg came and stopped them, but he told the others why he joined Lotso is just to get out because he knows that one of Lotso’s henchmen said “They’re just Trash, they deserve to be busted”, and thus leaves of with rest of the movie, they’re at the Trash Compactor, made it to Andy’s home and get sold of to Bonnie’s house.

for toy story 2, during the scene where the toys are in Al's store, if the aisle of Buzz Lightyears is the same, then Zurg would go crazy trying to shoot all of them, until 1 of them catches him when his guard is down and traps him. if the Buzzs are replaced with Zurgs however, then it could be the same as in the movie, except the reason why Zurg2 traps him is because "there can only be 1 Zurg" or something like that.

i feel like my problem with Zurg in the official Toy Story canon is that he's never treated like a real villain. he exists for two reasons to make lame star wars parody references and to act as a joke villain. out of all the Toy story villains he honestly might be the worst. like when you share a movie with a stinky old preceptor and a man in a chicken suit and your the worst villain of the 3 theres really something wrong here. i always thought he should have been the main villain of Toy Story 2 or at least was treated like an actual threat

Yeah, Zurg isn’t an upstaging super hero like Buzz, but rather a new villain for Woody to defeat in playtime. So Woody’s position of being Andy’s favorite toy isn’t threatened in this case.

Tbh I really like it. I've seen a couple comments about Buzz In this timeline thinking they're all agents of Zurg, but what if it wasn't just that? Buzz gets introduced, and with Zurg being somewhat protective of Woody for rescuing him and being the only toy to truly give him a chance, instantly assumes he's an agent of Zurg. But having learned a lesson on first impressions from Zurg, Woody keeps trying, just trying to befriend Buzz. Buzz, still diluted, treats him with hostility for aligning with Zurg, but Woody eventually grows on him, perhaps pulling him out of a jam. Cue Woody accidentally getting taken by Al, and they toys plotting a rescue. Buzz is intitially hesitant to act, especially with Zurg demanding his rescue, but his space ranger code can't quite let him adandon Woody. So, reluctant addition to the rescue team.

And then Andy goes to his room to get his backpack think Woody should go with him instead of staying home and getting kidnapped by Al.

Only because the reason why would he wasn’t jealous of Zurg is because Andy only wanted to get buzz first for his birthday which drove him to depression and anxiety until he would rather wait by Christmas. But by the meantime, sometimes they have to get used to villains and fan favorites. For example, Andy would play less with Zurg until he gets buzz.

I can imagine the sequel to this version picking up where the first part left off. Buzz thinks he's the real Buzz Lightyear, but Zurg who has had time with the other toys knows he's not the real Zurg. Even so, he still caves in to his instincts sometimes, even though he's supposed to be lying low while Woody and the others do their best to convince Buzz he's a toy so he won't attack Zurg on sight. Andy wonders where Zurg is, and this is how Buzz discovers Zurg is nearby. He stops trusting Woody and the rest, considering them to be Zurg's allies who are keeping his location a secret. Craziness ensues and Buzz' resourcefulness results in a series of traps which are potentially dangerous, not just for the toys but for Andy as well. Eventually Zurg realises he has to come out of hiding and face Buzz and a battle takes place with Zurg playing along, complete with the "I _AM_ your father!" moment which stuns Buzz for a few seconds. "I was a coward," admits Zurg, "thinking I was hiding to avoid a battle, but it only made things worse." he backs himself towards the TV remote, "I should have done this a long time ago." Commercials start playing on the TV. Buzz is confused for a moment and engages Zurg again until a Buzz Lightyear commercial plays. Hit with the devastating revelation that he's not a Space Ranger, Buzz becomes depressed leaving Zurg to attempt to save the others from a timed death trap on his own (Andy isn't present but could be hurt if he sets foot in the room). Zurg then has to inspire Buzz, telling him that he once thought as he did, that he was the real Zurg and he drove the other toys crazy. Even though Buzz is a toy, he can still be a hero. Buzz admits that the others are only facing doom because of his own actions. Zurg then tells him that those were the actions of a deluded Buzz, and he doesn't have to be the real Buzz Lightyear to be a hero. It isn't too late for him to correct his mistake. Buzz looks on at Zurg who is between the other toys and their fate - a fate which he will soon share if he doesn't get out of the way. "The real Zurg wouldn't try to save his minions! I might not be the real Buzz, and you might not be the real Zurg, but together we can put this right!" Buzz leaps into action, performing various leaps and flips until he's high enough to reach a knot, which if untied, will cause the deathtrap to fail. Now safe, the other toys congratulate Zurg for saving them and welcome Buzz to the gang, though Potato Head is the last to forgive Buzz, Mrs Potato Head convinces him that it wasn't his fault and he's different now. Toy Story 3 could then take place around the time of the Yard Sale and it's up to Zurg and Buzz to team up with Ham, Rex, Potato Head and Slinky (did I miss anyone out?) to save Woody from being sent to Japan. The events of this movie would be largely unchanged from the Toy Story 2 which we all know and love, except for the New Buzz seeing everyone with Zurg and attacking them at the apartment, and a New Zurg finding his way out of the box and chasing Andy's Buzz across the road, leading to a double Buzz, double Zurg showdown atop the lift / elevator.

Zurg is one of my favorite Pixar villains. And I have to say, this is an interesting twist, especially since in the whole franchise Woody never actually meets Zurg.

I feel like there could be added scenes, specifically for zurg to realize he is a toy, and i imagine it would revolve around his "cannon" not working due to firing foam balls. Like in the beginning he questions it like "why wont you perish you accursed law man!" Only for a similar scene to the buzz commercial to happen, with "real firing blaster!!!!" And stuff, with zurg really realizing he is a toy. We could even give a paralel by having him instead of jumping off the bannister, trying to fight the dog, only for a piece to get cleanly ripped off after getting tossed around by the dog. We get a nice paralel tothe i can fly song, with zurg challenging the dog, only for the blaster to just aggrivate the dog. Thats my best idea though

I honestly love this theory, and I would like to see how this would go, if it had a continuation! There's not too many theory ideas I have in mind, but if it's ever possible to do theories on anything related to Toy Story 4, then I would probably like to see what it would be like if Buzz joined with Woody when he rescued Forky after he jumped out the RV.

I actually really like the concept of Zurg kinda being protective of Woody for being the only one to initially give him a chance. Like, Woody doesn't even realize it but he's got a hulking bodyguard of sorts. So if Buzz entered the picture, Zurg would absolutely probably put his rivalry aside to rescue Woody from Stinky Pete. And if Woody had been the only thing keeping Zurg and Buzz from tearing each other apart, depending on how his dynamic with Zurg had impacted his Dynamic with Buzz in this timeline, It might get Buzz to put things to rest too, of he sees Zurg Willing to Protect Woody like that.

I also imagine that Zurg and Buzz would probably grow to respect one another if both of them have broken out of their delusions, plus I imagine Andy being the type of kid who on rare times when playing have Buzz and Zurg team up against a greater evil. I mean what kid hasn't want to see their favorite hero team up with their arch enemy against a bigger villain, could be a sorta forshadowing to Zurg and Buzz teaming up to rescue Woody.

*Watch Video Before Reading This Comment* I like the ending where when it was announced by Andy that his Christmas gift was Buzz Lightyear, Zurg immediately bolts to the door and tried to get to Buzz just to destroy him. He still has so much to go. I love this story.

I really enjoy the fact that because Zurg isn't replacing Woody, instead of plotting to get him out of the way, Woody's trying to stick up for him even when he's being a total tool to the other toys.

Alright, I like this idea, Imma elaborate the ideas I have a little beyond the first movie: Retcon for the first movie: Due to Zurg wanting to hunt down Buzz, Zurg actually escapes with the help of another toy showing him the window, probably Mr. Potatohead, Woody then follows suit in worry for Zurg, and the Pizza Planet trip happens but in difference of bringing one of the toys with, Andy brings a different toy with, Slink. As Slink up to that point feels like Woody's second in command during the first movie, he realizes what is happening and trys to discourage Woody due to Zurg's more obsessive behavior, the scene at the gas station happens and Zurg instead of storming off to the space ship on the Pizza Planet truck, Zurg is looking for Buzz and rolls around the station in the open but Woody manages to get Slink to help stop Zurg, and they are able to stop him but Andy's mom had already driven off and since Slink knows where they are going, he directs the group to the Pizza Planet truck to which arrives and Woody and Slink try to get Zurg back to the van but he manages to break free and goes to Pizza Planet, but not due to Buzz this time, he thinks this is where he will find his ship so he can locate Buzz. The group manage to get in and this is where a big difference happens, instead of getting to the Alien game, Zurg gets to a sort of display to which would be with a cross promotion with the Buzzlightyear stuff, and he manages to break free two of his troops from the display, and attempts to break more out before Woody and Slink stop him, Zurg sends one of his robots to go hunt down Buzz. The Toys then are able to make it away in hiding by escaping to a different area of Pizza Planet, to which at this point due to a how the robot that he was able to keep around he begins to connect what Woody and the others meant, having him get an existential crisis right before they are scot free to get to the Van. His robot warns the group that someone is coming and so Zurg froze up like the other toys usually did and he ended up getting scooped up by Sid. to who has already got a few toys from the arcade, some of those arcade counter toys that are cheap but also one of the crane machine aliens. The Zurgbot wants to go save his boss while Slink just wants to go home, and Woody ends this divison by sending Slink home and both the robot and Woody goes and rides on the bumper, and the robot jokes about diecast and is the reason why Woody is able to ride safely without stowing away in a bag. When they arrive at Sid's house, Zurg is brought in swiftly with the toys he got. Woody and Zurgbot would have to sneak in via doggy door, Zurgbot sacrificing himself as Woode would run upstairs. Woody would come in right as the Sid toys would be taking Zurg out of his imprisonment, The Arcade toys besides the Alien would be all messed up while the Alien had the fireworks this time around. Zurg and Woody would try to escape possibly using the help of some of the other toys and Zurg has his existence as a toy affirmed by the Buzzlightyear commercial but he uses his ion blaster balls against the TV and he ends up cracking the TV to which wakes Sid and his folks up and its early in the morning, the younger sister of Sid is the one to find out what happened first and Sid blames her and his parents scold both of them and would think about it. After Sid is the only one left in the room seeing Zurg to which he make a grumble and takes Sid back to his room. Woody would talk with the others on the other side of the house gap and Potato head apologizes and warns Woody about the move being that day so it adds the urgency. Later in the day Woody would enact the plan with the modified toys, and its about noon and Zurgbot is found by Sid and we get to see a silent scene between Zurg and Zurgbot, thinking of it as a second sacrifice, and Sid would try something similar to what he did to Woode, being put on the grill and magnifine glass to which actually helps with the leg of the Zurgbot and Woody and the modified toys would untie the new Firework addition to Zurg but Zurg has an idea and shoots an ion ball. Sid turns to find he is looking upon an army of his toys and laughs as he thinks his sister set it all up and before he reaches them Zurg goes into a speech. "What you have done is a crime to my empire. Mere human thinking he can destroy the Emperor Zurg, this will be your trial for your crimes against us. More of the modified toys appear and freak out Sid to which make him fall over and Zurg places the firework onto Sid and his robot joins him with some of the bitemarks on him being less since he is made of diecast but still present and he now has the magnifine glass. Woody tells Zurg to hurry it up or they will be left behind, and Zurg tells the modified toys to do with him what they will, implying the fire work will be used as he and his robot whisks possibly one or two of the broken toys with in order to catch up, and they barely miss the truck but I the toys I think Zurg would have brought with would have been Roller Bob and Hand in a Box, to which RC would have also been pushed off intentionally by Slink in order for Woode to catch up. Woode gets atop RC while Roller Bob held the other three, and due to Hand in a Box, the group would be able to speed up to attempt to follow the truck, the chase is less so, but Sid's dog would still be in the front yard and follow in chase still too and instead of being as long, Roller bob would motion for Zurg to grab onto Hand in a Box and so Zurgbot, Zurg, RC, and Hand in a Box would get into the truck but as Hand in the Box was one of Sid's toys he would jump off after to save Rollerbob. Same Christmas Scene though. Second Movie: Buzz and Zurg would be the most prominent of Andy's toys with the two having a rivalry but Zurg is more of a responsible and kindly character in comparison to Buzz, The movie is mostly the Same but Zurg and Buzz are in the search party, and Zurg would have a third plot crop up, the Buzz display has a battle with Buzz vs Zurg and the Buzz of the scene is tied down as people want Buzz more than Zurg but the new Zurg ends up tricking our Zurg in switching places. The Second Buzz still does not trust this Zurg but he was different enough to which the second Buzz would help and would also get a few other toys to help, being that he breaks out the rest of his team from the Buzzlightyear cartoon. The Buzz team would have Buzz learn to trust more and they are betrayed by Zurg but before they are fully lost, the actual Zurg attacks, and the alternate Buzz and his team would focus on this runaway Zurg as our Zurg would help save Buzz and the others from being left behind. Zurg is up to speed and they go save Woode, and instead of Nasty Pete getting stashed with a Barbie, Zurg does something rather more dramatic, being that he fires ion balls at Pete till he falls into the machines below, still being alive but getting stuck, Zurg would begin to monologue but Buzz stops him and the group goes off back to return home. Toy Story 3: Again mostly the same as the actual movie but with this sort of Anti-hero personality Zurg, and Zurg is the one getting his switch flipped and he ends up causing a split against Lotso so he can be the emperor of the preschool, in return Lotso ends up doing the same to Buzz and it turns into almost actual war. It is chaotic. When Woody is in full force again to save everyone, it is revealed, Zurg has a faulty factory reset switch and he just was enjoying playing an evil emperor again, and has a evil laugh that gets a little jokerish. Due to evil dictator Zurg, the line is dropped a little more especially as the toy he sent off in the first movie returns. The Zurgbot stuck around in Toy Story 2 but was more in the background, this time he is back and it is evident that his leg was replaced, the Zurgbots would be causing havoc as the others get Buzz, Buzz is turned back but as a last resort Lotso throws away the Zurgbots and tries to do it to Jessie but everyone rushes him and his crew, causing a similar outcome, The Zurgbots and Zurg would disappear on the way to the dump also, and instead of aliens saving them, its Zurg and his robots. Movie ends like it did before but with Buzz being more of a background character as Andy fondly looks upon Zurg and Woody most of all. Also the Emperor Zurg we see in the movie is the duplicate from Toy Story 2 and he is shaking his fist at the toys when we see him. Toy Story 4: Zurg is here again, and is mostly background, but like Buzz, kinda returns to Movie 1 Zurg to where he is more escapish, but this time he is looking for Woody instead of just being stupid, The Zurgbots would help in the search and the original Zurgbot that was with us since the first movie would actually help Woody in his plot once he found him. A bittersweet moment would be had with the original Zurgbot, Woody, and Zurg, and Woody is let go in a sad moment but as long as Zurgbot goes with him to protect the softer toy, and so we see Boe Peep and Woody at the top of their carosuel and Zurgbot would be stuck further down as he has too little friction to climb up and a joke is had that he is getting sick even though he is a toy. Also the Carnival toys gat abused by the Buzz here as he has had less development.

The ending of TS1 Andy finally got Buzz for his Christmas gift would it be the one with Utility Belt? On TS2 so Woody's arm never accidentally got damage by Andy before he's leaving to cowboy camp? If his arm never been ripped, he would be able going with Andy instead of getting kidnapped by Al and never meet the roundup gangs. In the original storyline, inside the rocket crane where Woody was trying to get Buzz out before finding Andy, but Sid was already there controlling the crane to get Buzz & Woody was about to make Sid fail the game, but aliens don’t let Woody fight the crane so he holds Buzz's leg for too long before it gets ripped, Sid was happy that won double prizes then he kidnapped them and ready to go back home. And also Scud had almost make Woody's arm damage too where he's about to climb up the truck with Buzz.

I think if Andy owned Zurg in toy story 2, he would be a good friend to Woody and the other toys and maybe even Buzz Lightyear, despite them being enemies.

This should be an episode of a Pixar WHAT IF?

Really great stuff, feels like a complete character arc and a whole other legitimate movie

If you do a TS2 follow-up, I don’t see Woody getting jealous of Buzz. My logic is that Andy has had Zurg (the bad guy) for months now. During that time, and through all of the “adventures” he’s had with his toys, it’s most likely been Woody vs. Zurg. Now, even with a proper Buzz Lightyear action figure, I don’t Andy would disregard Woody since, at this point, Zurg is more Woody’s rival than Buzz’s (in Andy’s mind). However, there would be a “team-up” as Buzz joins in to help his “fellow law enforcement” to defeat the “evil menace of Zurg.” This is where is see the start of the character conflict. In this TS1 “What If,” Zurg became Woody’s best friend by the end of the story instead of Buzz. Now, Zurg’s conflict comes not from his identity as the “bad guy,” but from the notion that he might be losing his best friend in Woody. First, it’s always Buzz and Woody vs. Zurg during Andy’s playtime. And secondly, Buzz is still in his “delusional space ranger” mode, so he refuses to let Woody socialize with Zurg outside of playtime either. Woody, being the leader, decides to go along with Buzz for now, thinking he might be able to slowly convince him that they’re all just toys, and they can be whoever they want to be as individuals, not just who the toy makers want them to be. He may think that Zurg understands this and is okay with it, but really Woody’s actions have hurt him. I don’t really have any ideas for a “human conflict,” but we’ll say there is one. Maybe Woody gets taken like last time, and Zurg and Buzz must work together to save him. The interpersonal conflict between Zurg and Buzz gets resolved when Zurg performs some sort of act of self-sacrifice to save not only Buzz, but a lot of their other fellow toys from whatever the evil humans have planned. Buzz realizes that anyone can be more than what someone else tells them they have to, and that just because someone is a “bad guy” during playtime, that doesn’t mean that’s who they are as a person.

You should really do what if Sid modified Woody and Buzz. I know it's dark, but you could probably tone it down a bit Foe this video, I like the idea of Buzz and Zurg being friends, something similar to Fix it Felix and Wreck it Ralph. Zurg embraces being Buzz's villain and the two probably have a unique bond.

In a book of the “Toy Story” franchise, which takes place after “Toy Story 2”, it shows that one of Andy’s Christmas gifts was an Evil Emperor Zurg, it was fighting with Buzz and the rest of the toys helped defeating Zurg by taking out his batteries.

I really like this What If! I personally would like to see this one in particular get a sequel. More specifically, *What if Zurg went to rescue Woody in Toy Story 2?* I also think that the idea of Woody having to deal with both Buzz and Zurg, while also being jealous of Buzz sounds pretty interesting too!

He would likely realize that his two favorite toys were snatched by Sid and would get his mother, then reveal to his mother and Sid's parents what Sid did to the toys he mutilated for fun to his parents, resulting in one huge punishment. Sid would be most likely grounded, with his own toys sent to Andy's home, explaining why they were here in the Toy Story Treats.

That's an interesting concept, and I think is well done. The only thing that I disagree on is Andy being okay with getting Zurg instead of Buzz. I think he would have taken it harder and wouldn't say he understands. He's a kid, and kids don't say things like that, and seeing how upset he was when he couldn't bring Buzz in the movie because he couldn't find him, I think he would have been disappointed like he was then when he gets Zurg.

Knowing Andy's personality, Zurg most likely would have grown on him and started to play with him more often. He'd probably even be put as Dr Porkchop's (Ham's role while Andy plays with his toys) boss and overall main villain of his toy playing scenarios

That is one of the best "What If?" hypothetical theories I've ever heard. It's well told and would make for a decent short animated film. It would also make for an interesting followup stories. I wonder if this Buzz Lightyear Andy got for Christmas was the new Utility Belt version. Andy's room is going to wind up becoming a shooting gallery for both Zurg and Buzz.

I was kind of hoping Zurg would come to the realization he’s only a toy and not the real Zurg. And it would’ve been interesting to see how belt Buzz would react to a Zurg who doesn’t want to destroy him.

I would take zurg over buzz anyday Also in my theory Zurg is smart, but he isn’t like buzz who even in character recognizes threats and allies, to him everything is a threat. So if he notices that his blaster wont work he would start using the sharp hand and, possibly stab woody, (this guy is modeled off darth vader after all). Which starts off a fight thanos-style, everybody tries to hit him but even outnumbered zurg clearly is bigger and has experience. (1 day later) Everyone starts hiding, the room becomes shady town with Zurg representing the mafia. Woody tries to convince him but it doesn’t work. So with no other option left Woody knocks Zurg off into the window. Then the rest goes your way except when woody saves zurg he thanks him and makes a “truce” with the room

Funny thing is, in one of the intros of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Zurg was seen among Andy’s toys watching the show on tv, before shooting the screen with his ion blaster. That’s the only thing I see where Andy has Zurg for a toy of his own.

Ok, as much as I love the original film and Buzz Lightyear, I would love to see this idea come to life and what Toy Story 2 would look like with Zurg and Buzz under the same roof! Great alternative story! 😁

If that happened I imagine it would go like this with both Woody and Buzz in the background Zurg(sees the buzz lightyear blanket):prepare to die! (begins repeatedly shooting at it) Woody and buzz in the distance Woody:(facepalms) Buzz:(trying to hold his laughter)

I love how you can imagine all these scenes playing out in the old CGI style of Toy Story 1, and are able to picture and hear the voice lines.

I love the idea that whenever he hears Buzz lightyear, he just thought "Now that's an avengers level threat."

I would love to see an idea like this where Zurich thought he HAD to be evil and when he finds out he's just a toy. He doesn't have to play as a villain. He's free to be good and set out his own path to pick which ever mortals he wants. That relief that he doesn't have to be like this. Zurg ditches his demo mode and becomes the most generous and caring member of the toy family

1. Maybe Zurg should replace Woody in this scenario but instead of losing an arm his Cannon gets jammed. 2. have both Zurg and Buzz find out that they are toys 3. have instead of Jessie a alien Bounty Hunter named quicktrigger and a spring like alien replacing bullseye named Hopper.

That is quite an interesting alternate storyline. The way I see it, Woody probably would try to help Zurg learn that he's not really a supervillain and just a toy. I guess the storyline for Toy Story 2 could probably be Woody still trying to get Buzz and Zurg to get along and maybe when Woody was kidnapped by Al, Buzz and Zurg would be the ones sent to save Woody with Zurg trying to adjust to learning how to be more like a superhero than a supervillain. I think that would be great character development for Zurg as he is learning to get along with Buzz in order to save Woody. I also think that while we could still have Woody with his issues with the roundup gang, I think Zurg and Buzz's relationship would be the bigger focus.

So Woody's arm never ripped for a bit? Remember in the original storyline it was Sid's fault and the LGMs at the back didn’t listen to Woody and not letting him to fight The Claw and if it let go of Buzz, and also Scud chasing the moving truck and bite Woody's left leg and his arm was about to begin to ripped telling Buzz to take care of Andy for him.

That was honestly a great sitcom like ending there quite funny actually, even the rest is a great interpretation, good job!

Andy’s mom somehow got ahold of woody, a toy that would cost possible millions. I think she would be able to get ahold of buzz light year.

Well, woody was already in the family as andy's mom calls him 'an old family toy' so he might have belonged to andy's dad. The reason it's worth so much is presumable because it's the only one ever made due to the loss of interest in cowboys because of sputnik. It's very possible that the woody we know was the prototype toy made as a proof of concept sort of thing

I kinda like the idea of zurg being introduced like this mainly cause his story of who he his as a toy is a real mystery how he act if he made friends with other toys. It's like those villain redemption arcs in a way

It'd be interesting if Zurg was first and then eventually Andy got Buzz. I imagine at first Zurg of course would think he's an actual villain, Andy would play with him yes as the villain role but he wouldn't be his favorite Woody would still be that. So Woody wouldn't feel threatened, Woody would see Zurg trying to concur and be an actual villain feeling bad for him not getting it, since Woody isn't jealous of Zurg he'd actually help Zurg accept and realize he's a toy. Zurg hostile at first thinking it's a trick Woody would turn on the TV pop in a VHS tape and we'd see the original film Zurg is based on Zurg going yes that's accurate historical foorage that's me and my enemy, only for it to switch to the toy commercial and Woody prooving see you're a toy like us. Zurg eventually finally accepts it and slowly eventually befriends the group. Only for Andy to eventually get a Buzz Lightyear, and fresh out the box he in action mode seeing Zurg, attacking Zurg. And Woody and the rest of them defending Zurg like no he's a good guy, looking at Buzz like what's your problem, Buzz confused by the locals thinking they're conquered people under Zurgs tyranny. Buzz would be the one to have the sketchy I dunno about you vibe Woody had with Buzz when he first showed up, but Buzz would go along with the peoples "local customs" of being a toy. Like maybe Zurg is the one lost at Sid's place with Woody instead, and everyone is blaming and looking at Buzz. As he's coping with, was the galactic academy wrong? Am I really just a toy? Did I just hurt a potential friend? Am I the bad guy now?

This is really cool tbh, but there are consequences will happen next in ts 2, if Andy got Buzz on Christmas, andy will never got mrs p. And buster. What I mean, (my theory) Buzz is so expensive, you'll see on every kid on all ts movies, has buzz lightyear toys. And also if Andy got zurg from your story, zurg will be the main villain on Andy's playtime, therefore Hamm will not going to be Dr porkchop instead he will be the banker(or something). And by that on ts 2 hamm will be replaced by zurg and woody will never broke his arm, so how woody will end up on the yard sale? Well if you ask me they will playing the godzilla roleplay (the one deleted scene on ts 2) and by that we will replaced buzz to zurg to shoot rex and accident happened and woody ended up on yard sale, and he will saw wheezy in the box with him.

So let's skip ahead to save woody , zurg was worried so he ask some of the toys who will join to rescue him, for this zurg will be the leader and not buzz, so there's no motivational speech like what happened in the movie, instead zurg saw them tired but zurg is kept moving, so they come along.

So they ended up on the road, so they are going to cross but this time is different, zurg is waiting for the truck that has the cylinder thing for sewer, he told told buzz to point a laser on the driver's glass and zurg shoot the driver so that make a car accident that make the road completely blocked to make them a way through the cylinder sewer

Now at the als toy barn, so they split up, zurg was with buzz, and ended up on the buzz lightyear section, they saw the utility buzz and UBuzz saw zurg so he pointed a laser and shouted "stop right there zurg! Hey space ranger why didnt you captured him". "He's with me" buzz answered, "are you crazy?" So they argue each other until they had a fight, so zurg shoot UBuzz to distract him, so buzz can make a run for it, so the gang saw them and hopped in on the car and drove fast and entered to room and al enters, after that they went to al's bag and went off, so al left his bag in the car, so they make a run towards it, but buzz saw the ventilation so they went in.

At this time though If woody wasn't broken he's worried, he still met the round up but he never get fixed nor fight with Jessie, instead he makes his plan to escape, but it failed and that's end up jessie told woody her story. Blah blah blah, zurg and the gang made it, so he tell woody to come home so they went off, but woody tell everyone to wait up, woody went back and tell his round up to join with him and then like in the movie stinky pete out of the box and locked the vent. Buzz tell everybody on the Elevator. And you guess it, They saw UBuzz, the gang confused, then they had a fight again. And by that the gang was going to save woody, but it failed zurg and buzz got pushed by UBuzz on the battle so they fall inside the Elevator, zurg saw al exiting on the door so he shoot it in time to avoid the door to get closed, so they went out, but it's too late, al drove off, buzz saw the pizza truck and went in, but UBuzz is still chasing them. They drove off while ubuzz is climbing on the truck to stop them, buzz let zurg to steer the steering wheel while buzz going to stop ubuzz (while that, rex is navigating the way). While buzz and UBuzz fighting on the roof of the car, UBuzz ask buzz, "Why are you helping help space ranger?", "Because he's my dad!", ubuzz shocked and buzz kick him off the roof and UBuzz landed on the trunk of another car.

You did that comedian ending. I'm laughing. ;D

It would be awesome to see this what if as a well written fanfiction 🤩

It's weird that Zurg still isn't aware he's a toy even by Christmas. If you had only mentioned that in the passing months that Zurg had realized he was a toy, the ending would be that much better. Who knows if Zurg would still say his phrase as a form of mental trigger at the sight of Buzz Lightyear despite being aware he's a toy?

I could see a timeline where Zurg is depressed that he's not the big bad villain he thought he was, then realizes his friends are important....him being the one to scare Sid

There's a idea for you: What if Tinny from Tin Toy took the role of woody in all of the toy story films?

Wow that was very interesting and funny’s at the end that Zurg finally found buzz lighyear

Andy getting Zurg would have made a decent storyline for Toy Story 3, only in my version, Buzz Lightyear is the main character, and Woody is the supporting character. Oh, and also, I'd use the plot for Andy departing for college in Toy Story 4. How does that sound?

Hey, this was a very wholesome theory story. Funny how this ended up in my recommendation same day as my disney store Zurg arrived in the mail.

Honestly Sid should’ve gotten Zurg and Zurg would use all the mutant toys as his minions and Sid makes Zurg into like Titan Zurg or something.

I find it cool that you did what I did and tie the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Cartoon to the central Toy Story Canon

Ngl I think the idea of Andy just preferring Zurg over Buzz is also plausible. Some kids love the bad guy after all, especially if they look cool. It would also help with Andy's little storyline regarding his toys. Particularly in replacing Mr Potato Head as the new Big Bad.

I really like this theory. It felt true and faithful to the Toy Story story and atmosphere. I got nervous at the end thinking that Scud was going to catch Zurg and damage or break him. I probably would've teared up if that happened 😅

In my headcannon, Andy's mom got Buzz because she won this big Buzz Lightyear raffle type-thing, and so it was given to her as a prize

As a kid I loved villain characters, so in Andy's place I'd be ecstatic to get a Zurg figure (heck even as an adult I'd love me some Zurg memorabilia, that series way too cool)

Actually, since his lower body is just a base with little wheels on it, Zurg would probably suffer from some serious mobility issues. He wouldn't really be able to jump to move around to get from the floor to the bed and depending on how small his wheels are he would have trouble on dirt or carpet. Also, his helmet doesn't come off and he has that viewing hole in the back of his head. So I think it would become easier for Zurg to realize he's just a toy once he realizes how limited his body is. Maybe have a scene of him trying to remove his helmet "even if he needs it to breath" only to discover then and there that it's just his actual head and he's just a toy. Though, I think in a setup where Zurg is the toy Andy gets then Zurg's blaster should be replaced with some sort of grappling hook suction cup thing. Maybe he thinks it's his tractor beam emitter or whatever. He could use the grappling gun to move himself around or grab things (maybe use it to save himself and Woody at some point). For the first act where he's just in Andy's room, he could be largely okay with his new form since he can easily move on the floor or grapple around or try bossing around some of the smaller toys. But once he leaves the bedroom, his limitations become much more pronounced and there's nobody to force to help him. So Zurg starts out a sort of "Small name big ego" sort of character who thinks he's an evil overlord and tries lording over the other toys, but when he leaves Andy's room and finds out how limited he is and then realizes that he's just a toy, that's when life kicks him in the pants and he realizes he has to change his ways. For the climax, it might even involve Zurg saving Woody or the other toys from Sid, possibly using the same sort of plan Woody used in the original movie to get all the monster toys to scare Sid. Then at the end Zurg apologizes to the other toys for how he treated them and they start to get along better.

1then woody would’ve succeed of hiding buzz behind the cupboard and gone to pizza planet and the toys after getting buzz out of the cupboard will be pretty mad at Woody for hiding him behind the cupboard Just because he wants to go to pizza planet in order to spend time with Andy before andy got buzz for his birthday Once he gets back from pizza planet 2 then woody would’ve gone to cowboy camp and almost 90% of toy story 2 would’ve never happened 3 Losto had a chance to redeem himself and let’s just say he did that for what would happen to him I’m going to say he will be found by a older daisy Who is at the same college Andy is at and he soon realized he was wrong about The whole time and woody was right and he would be happy again 4 then the RV would’ve drive away

I think I want a follow up of buzz and zurg fighting and arguing

I always wondered what if Andy had gotten Zurg after Buzz Lightyear had accepted that he was a toy. How would Buzz handle it and how would they try to make him realize that they are not in the show but are actually toys?

In the book of following TS2, the Christmas story, Andy was on vacation with his family, the toys were curious to check out the presents, one of them break out of box it happens to be Zurg, Buzz Lightyear tries to convince Zurg that he’s Andy’s new toy, but Zurg doesn’t care, he wants to destroy Buzz and the universe, then Woody & Andy’s toys prevent Zurg, they took the batteries out and put him back in the box before Andy finds it.

Now this is a what if i would like to see.

I think Zurg at first would believe he is a real villain. But later, he will understood that he is a toy, and will join the community.

What if Andy got Buzz AND Zurg for his birthday? What if Stinky Pete went with Woody? What if Lotso turned good? What if Buzz knew he was a toy right from the start? What if Woody never went back to Sunnyside Daycare? (Just some little ideas)

Sounds like a story you easily could fit into a 1/2 hour episode.

I liked this talk, it would of been different and the toys would had felt differently, could you do what if Woody ran away from home instead of trying to get rid of Buzz in Toy Story
