I started doing something similar when I go to the range (after seeing this video) and last weekend shot the lowest round of my life (72). Before that round I had only been able to do this practice twice, and even that was enough for me to be more confident in my feels. I wanted to come back to this video and say thanks for posting this, I believe that round is a result of a change in how I practice! This practice set up makes the time at the range far more efficient. It also gives me a couple things to do before a round to help me find the feel for the day. Would be very interested in seeing what you do for chipping.

Hey Ryan, another great video! I had downloaded this one to watch on the airplane as I just had a business trip to Nashville. Loved all the tips, especially how you arranged the golf balls in sets of four for different drills. My 24 year old son has recently gained interest in golf and we are playing our first round together in the next couple of weeks! Quick note, I don’t know the reason, but I do know that KZreadrs make sure that videos around this length just barely exceed the 10 minute mark. Likely the algorithm favors 10 minute plus long videos, just a heads up Next time you’re in OC and if you have time, I’d be happy to treat you to a round of golf at one of our south OC courses! Hey Ryan, great video. I love the insight into the training aids and the practice structure. Can you do something about the mic though please? I’m not sure if it’s a mixing thing in post or something physical, but the ambient noise like your breathing and shirt rubbing on the mic is a little loud compared to your voice. I know some KZread golfers clip the mic on the brim of their hat and that seems to work well. Love the content though, keep it up!

Hey Ryan, thanks for all those insights! Love the concept of block practice. Interesting that you repeat the blocks for each clubs! How would you adjust your training if you can't hit on grass range but only matts? Seems like your drills can still apply but curious if you'd focus on something specific given matt ranges are "easier" to practice on than grass. Cheers mate!
@RyanRuffelsGolf
16 күн бұрын
I personally wouldn’t adjust anything. Sure contact is easier off mats but all your fundamentals will stay the same. Hit off grass whenever you can but if you can’t just keep doing the same stuff!

What is the difference between a swing feel and a swing thought?
@RyanRuffelsGolf
16 күн бұрын
Good question and a tricky one to explain. I’ll do the best I can. A swing thought is something technical and that you’re trying consciously to work on. Eg. trying to lay the club off at the top, and deliberately manipulating the club to be laid off A swing feel would be something that you feel in the swing that feels natural that achieves what you’re trying to do. Maybe something like softening grip pressure, feeling the weight of the club set in a natural position at the top etc. I always start with a swing thought when I begin working on something and try to find a feel as I work on it, that is less technical, more natural and easy to replicate on course. Hope that helps !
