What I learned while smoking my first brisket

10 hours smoked brisket plus 15 hour rest
Seasoning was just Texas-style with salt and pepper
18 pound untrimmed Prime Brisket from @samsclub
Thank you to @TraegerGrills for the gifted Pellet Smoker! I'm using the Ironwood 885.

Watching Lisa’s first time smoking her brisket is like witnessing a rite of passage into the world of barbecue mastery. It’s a slow journey, but the end result is always worth the wait.

A boning knife is super useful and a large slicer is a necessity for large cuts like brisket. Just like so much other cooking LEAVE IT. Keep the lid closed. If you can see meat it's not seasoned. Basting, or spritzing and wraps can help with drying but ONLY toward the end. Good luck for your next try. 😊

You know in Texas, crazy thing is we really don’t just season barbecue with salt and pepper too much anymore I noticed that. It’s a lot more that go into it now. I definitely recommend adding garlic powder onion powder smoked paprika and if you like a really potent flavor a little bit of your seasoning mix of choice like Cajun seasoning and etc. Trust me it will change your life. One time I got experimental and I injected injected it with garlic and herb butter delicious but was risky lol.

My friend works for a smoking joint in Nashville,TN. I finally cut my own briquette today. I cut it into different cuts of meat for meals later. I ended up paying 3.99 per pound for roughly 14 pounds. The second I opened my phone your short clip on beef talo popped up. Kinda figures with the concept of technology listening to conversations. Lol.

For the long rest dont go over 150. Get a warmer if hilding for more than 4 hours. A prewarmed cooler with a towel for insulation will get you 4+ hours of rest but any .ore than that you need a warmwr that will go down to 140. Other than that and your fat cap being a tad too thick you did a great job for your first brisket.

My first brisket was Super Bowl weekend, 15lbs, took 10 minutes to trim What were you even doing? Did you watch anything relating to doing brisket beforehand? This is atrocious.
