You know who really gets the most value from this deal ?? WE DO !! Can't wait for this content to come down the pike ! I guess we'll have to wait and see to make an apples to apples comparison. Get the VW running and bring it up to similar condition as the Cutlass, keeping track of how much money gets sunk. Then we can tell if this was a good deal or not. And we're not counting Mustie1's time... we treat that as if it has no value. His time is donated free of charge, for the channel... which completely throws off the mathematics of the deal. Mustie1 put in the time for the Cutlass AND will put in the time for the VW.

There used to be an electronics recycling container in the parking lot of my shop. I'd root around in there for good stuff. I got a portable a/c that just needed some minor repairs, a bunch of computers to run my CNC machine, and a Pioneer 7 channel surround amp that ran for about 3 months then the power supply went. I also snagged a class A amp (don't remember the name) that wouldn't turn on. I researched online and it was worth over 5000.00. There were a TON of big flat screen tvs which all needed power supplies which are easy and cheap to replace. ($40 in parts) but like I need more projects? I know someone else who figured out how to repair them and made a good living at it. 60" tv repaired for $40 sold for $400.00. I was glad/sorry to see it go because like I NEED more projects?

For a vintage VW with rollback ragtop. That’s not a bad trade and a parts car. When completed it will worth a good bit. Myself I wouldn’t want to do the labor to put it together. But not a bad swap for what the VW bug would bring cash wise to a collector.

My first car was almost a cutlass like that. A guy that worked with my mom had one and was just going to give it to her as he just didn't drive it anymore. She didnt even think about me turning driving age soon and turned him down, after she told me and realized I wanted it she talked to him and someone had bought it from him for $300. There wasn't anything wrong with it.
