Bought a Wildfire 4 post Lift, Can a Rookie Put it Together?

Ойын-сауық

I have been looking at new lifts for the shop that l can walk under and still move the lift around. after seeing what vice grip garage added to his garage I was sold. calling wildfire and speaking to Brad I then placed an order for the larger of the 4 post they offer. this video shows what it would take start to finish if you were to tackle the assembly by yourself. it was recommended to have 2 people but I gave it a shot alone. www.wildfirelifts.com

This is a prime example of why I love watching your videos... You draw on your innate intelligence and wealth of experience to figure out the easiest/safest/most efficient way to do things, instead of trying brute force and/or simply giving up! I'm older than you, so please don't take this wrong -- but you remind me of my Dad! He was born and raised in Germany, and completed his training to become a tool and die maker in the old-fashioned German apprenticeship program. He could do pretty much anything, from repairing your watch, to plumbing, carpentry, automotive repairs, paving/concrete work, etc! And everything he did was well-thought-out, like you! He would have loved your channel; he would have loved your garage! Unfortunately, he passed away 20 years ago... Thanks for reminding me that incredible men like him are still around! I’ve been putting off fixing the trailer hitch on an old Subaru which is rusting through. I was dreading the job when I saw your YT. Thanks for motivating me (kick in the pants really) to investigate a lift. I agree the Wildfire is the best bang for the buck. One difference is I got the “Hand Bridge Jack” which suits me better as I don’t do this for a living. Besides my compressors capacity is a bit small. Anyway thanks much!!!!!! redrok

No big deal just be careful regardless of your age it falls on you and won't have to worry about getting any older.

Congratulations on the lift. As you say it will change your life. That you made it to 56 working without a lift is damn impressive. At 15 I started working at a gas station pumping gas. The owner was a real cool nice guy and let employees use the two lifts after hours. Of course I never told him but I would have worked there for next to nothing just to have access to those lifts. Worked my way through college at that station. Enjoy the lift.

You deserve such a nice lift Darrin. I'm excited to see you work with it. On a second note, I spent yesterday on my back under my pristine 2001 F-250 Super Duty using the air scaler and doing the frame and running gear in the Bar and Chain linseed oil blend shot through the undercoat gun. I snowmobile in the winter so my truck is in the Cascade Mountains of WA State a lot. Over the last several years, I was getting nervous about the rust I saw developing. But, I got her all cleaned up and applied your oil formula. It went on really well using the spray gun and brushing it into all the nooks and crevices and I can see that it is going be a good coating to stop the rust progression. No rot yet and I was pleased to find it wasn't as bad as I had thought. I'll keep an eye on it and reapply as needed. Thanks for the tip. I really enjoy your videos. Warmest Regards.

A little heads up. After some use of my lift, I found that even though it has those nylon sliders, they tend to get a little fussy about sliding freely. Easy cure. Spray the post with silicon and they will slide like new. I've had my hoist since 1999. Kind of wish I would have bought a two post lift. Why? because it's easier to do brake jobs or anything where you want the wheels hanging free. I may still get one, who knows? Enjoy your hoist.

I've had to have my neck fused together & two rotator cuff surgeries. It sucks trying to do any work on my engine bent over or underneath. I get cramps. Then like you say the next day,... oh man! When I watched VGG put his together it seemed fairly straightforward but obviously much easier with more people involved in the process...lol. Derek was very pleased with all the functions it provided as for being "mobile" as well. After now seeing you and Derek both have this lift it has helped me in my decision as to wanting to buy the same one for my shop. I do classic ford restorations in my pole barn garage I recently constructed at my house. Seeing the mobility and storage options this provides makes this choice a "no brainer" it would seem.

I was thinking same thing but just for a little extra safety. Than you could shim it to absolute level as well. I would also weld gussets in corners of factory pads to post but that's just me and I like overkill on safety with heavy objects above me.

I'm 60 and I work on vehicles a lot. Got an old four post lift about 8 years ago. It really, really helps a guy with some mileage on him get more done in a day, a week and a month. Would hate to go back to laying on the floor exclusively. Saw VGG's video too and was interested enough to go to the Mfg website and check it out. Looks like a good design, made right out of good materials. Congrats Mustie1, and Derek!
