    I thought I was Iskall's OLDEST fan. I'm 51! My daughter got me watching at the start of last season. I started playing Minecraft during COVID with my family and my kids' friends. It has been awesome getting to know my kids' friends through playing the game on a server together. I LOVE Iskall's silliness and pushing himself to try new things (color blending) and building as we watch. I learn nothing from timelapses - except unrealistic timelines for giant builds - it looks so easy when you do it! I have been loving the social interactions and Theater Kid performances. The bit with Joels had me laughing so hard I cried. I'm so shocked people are hating on Iskall. I don't understand that at all, but, you know, I'm old. LOL

  • @nerdjournal

    @nerdjournal

    Ай бұрын

    I mean... I don't disagree, but I would wager the VAST majority of viewers are from the Mega Build area, as most of the Hermits who play now weren't even on S1 or S2. It doesn't change how people should respect each other. Most people are doing megabuilds anyway. I think people have a right to criticize because it's just allowing people a right to have an opinion. What isn't okay is for people to use criticism or opinions as a vehicle to tear people down. However, I think a lot of people who appear overinvested are just role-playing along with the creators. I know I joke around a lot, especially any time I hear a content creator complaining they are going to be attacked for something in the comment section, I make a satire comment of those attacks. I make it pretty obvious it's a joke, and I get a BUNCH of people trashing me over a joke. So I think it may be just as important to stay in our own lanes, even as commenters. Because text is hard to gauge the tone of what people are saying. Sometimes it seems really serious when they only mean it to reflect a joke. One thing I will say though, it's naive to think you can tell haters to just not watch, and they are going to get the message oh well we must not bother him. Because that is the opposite of what the message gives. Which, unfortunately, is a flaw of Iskall. He takes what some commenters and redditors say to close to the heart. I know he plays up the bravado and tries to deflect that he doesn't care, but if that were true he wouldn't give it any attention, yet he gives it LOADS of attention. I'm a huge fan of iskall, but he does have a bad habit of feeding the trolls.

  • @disrespank

    No one says don't socilize or be friends. BUT all other hermits - they are making Megabuilds happen AND finding time to socialize. That's what HC always been about. Iskall been doing nothing but trolling this season. Multiple months later he is still living in a small blue shipping container and built only one side of an OK looking building. So yeah - we should call him out. This is not what we expect from a veteran HC player. Not up to the standard of an SMP that is known and viewed for megabuilds.

    @@disrespank I understand that megabuilds might be why you watch Hermitcraft, but to say that's always been what HC is about is just blatantly untrue. I've been watching HC content from various Hermits for 11-ish years now (since the second half of season 2) and in that time, there's always been some people doing megaprojects, but not everyone and not all the time. I love seeing the builds, but I've always watched for the social interactions mainly (which is why I like watching Iskall as well). The server has steadily moved more towards megabases in the later seasons, true, but it's never been a requirement for playing on the server. And even if it was, it's not my server, so why should I police it? If I don't like a youtuber's content, I tend to simply stop watching and move on, not 'call them out' for having the gall to create something I may not like. That seems like a somewhat futile pursuit, anyway.

    I think one thing Iskall should always remember: Maybe in the short term some building videos are gonna have more kids watching it. But if you look at every other bigger youtube channel ever, if you loose passion for what you are doing long term the viewers are gonna notice it (maybe just subconsciously) and gonna leave either way. It isnt worth the trouble forcing yourself into a role.

    Iskall, I’ve absolutely LOVED watching your content in this season. I never got super into Hermitcraft until season 10, and it’s because what I wanted was more goofs and improv! Your countless bits, the chaos snails, ore mountain, the permit office, all of them are highlights that keep me engaged. It’s also so much more interesting to watch someone plan and debate a build in real-time than it is to see something pre-planned be built in a timelapse. Most of the time I think the timelapse is the least engaging part of the video. Is it pretty? Yeah, but it lasts all of thirty seconds and isn’t super dynamic. Then again, I usually listen more than I watch, so interactions are all that more important. It’s amazing to see an intelligent KZreadr speak out on the topic of “hall monitoring” and acknowledge that, while it’s okay to be emotionally invested, it’s also important to trust that your favorite artists have everything under control. I wish I could broadcast the line “if it goes on KZread, it’s okay” to the entire fan base.

    I have to admit that even me, an above 20 years old adult at the time, wondered if the hermit war of season 6 was all a show or if there was a bit of genuine beef/rivalry behind it. I was very new to SMP and hermitcraft, and was only looking at Grian perspective, so it was great when he paused and reminded its audience at the end of an episode that it was all fun and game and everyone was friends. It clears things up for me and from that point I understand better the dynamics between hermits and content creators at large. I really think those reminders that it's all a show / it's all fun and games are really important for new viewers, espescially when things heats up a bit in the fictionnal SMP history.

    I’m all here for your creative chaos, Iskall! I love your energy and your builds and the jokes and the cringe thing with Joel and Mission Possible and and and… yeah, I simply enjoy all of it, and a big part of that is because YOU clearly enjoy whatever you’re doing. So I’d say, go with the flow, the people who like your style will stick around, and those are the ones you want to reach. There’s plenty of mainstream for the others to enjoy.

    I started watching in season 7 when I discovered Hermitcraft, and this is my favorite season of yours by far. You upload a shit load of videos (which to me is a sign that you're having a lot of fun and have found a way to make good content without a week's worth of effort, which is awesome) and I watch all of them as soon as they show up on youtube. I bet I would love to watch your streams as well, I really like your personality and your humor and you've been letting a lot of it show this season! If I were you I wouldn't worry about the viewcount drop, because those that are left are here for YOU and not a character.

    Since I think, mid season 6 I have watched your videos from your highs and your lows. However I do believe that this season has been your most successful for you as a person because of the way that you interact and mess around with the hermits (which make my laugh so hard that my stomach hurts). As long as the humour of your episodes continue I will be more than happy to continue watching (even if I have to go through the pain 😂)

    For me personally im a much bigger fan of you guys just having fun and funny bits together then big impressive builds. Like there cool and all to look at but I rarely remember builds of the hermits on a regular basis I remember the funny bits. Thats why something like the Life series is so popular and good, cause it focuses purely on storytelling, funny bits, and the characters you all play. SO iskall please keep it this way, and continue making content you enjoy making!

It was a really neat behind the scenes look at how you make videos. This is the first season where I have watched every single one of your videos. It's interesting (and surprising!) to hear that it's not your best season yet. I was a casual viewer before and would sometimes watch a random video if it popped up on my feed. I've been watching HC since Season 7, but honestly, this is the first season I've been watching your channel. I had a "core few" that I always watched before, because there are only so many super builds you can watch. But this season, with all the Hermits having more fun, being true to themselves, and getting together to just play, it has broadened my watch list considerably. So, while some kids might be less interested, the adults, I think are MORE interested, because there's a lot more variety in the shenanigans, as well as in the builds.

Then I stayed for the pranks and chaos because thats who I am in real life. I'm in my 30's and still prank other camp counselors at the girl scout camp I volunteer at over the sumer. I watch so many hermits on and off because I have a job that involves a lot of waiting around for like 20 minutes at a time, but you're basically the only hermit (Minus Etho) I'll drop everything for and watch.

    This is my first season watching hermitcraft, and you're my favourite so far! I love your sense of humour, your chaotic energy, and how you've begun to strike fear into hermit hearts when you message 'I'm coming over'. I'm so excited for the murder mystery, and the street you and stress made looks so good! I LOVED the mission possible base, and the apartments, and all of your builds. The monolith you made the 'eyesore' base into was such a great idea, too. I love how all the hermits have a very chill, laid back atmosphere, and you're all doing great builds and great bits! I really like seeing the amazing stuff people build, but I think the interactions really truly make this season for me. And you've been so much fun to watch. I hope you keep doing what you love, however it's most fun for you to do it, and I look forward to seeing more iskall videos!

    Two things ive noticed across the board with this season of hermitcraft. One is the hermits are being more social with each other (looking at you after dark crew). One thing that may have contributed to this is TFC's passing (ive heard nothing to confirm this just a head cannon) and its awsome to see the hermits interaction between each other. Two the builds are smaller in scale and people settled more close proximity to each other. Ill say this as a moderate length viewer. I love the interactions between you guys it feels more human and not just a script. I think everyone is doing not only thier own thing but doing it in a fun manner. Keep on doing what your doing guys its a nice change to some of us but a change that has been on the horizon for a long time.

The builds are fun but anyone can do cool builds. Your friendships & sillies are why we tune in. Your enjoyment & that of each hermit this season is infectious. We can all see & enjoy how much fun you all are genuinely having. You all are changing the landscape for all of us creators as well. We are all approaching our content differently now. Stepping out of the retention rat race & not stressing over the details. Doing what we love because we love it. Thank you kind sir & thank you to each hermit for unashamedly doing what you love to do. You inspire us all.
