well when grian has the largest audience of all the hermits and the only person whose audience can rival his is mumbo, he definitely brought far more public awareness and popularity for the series with even a good amount of the hermits who joined post-grian became a part of hermitcraft due to them associating with grian. without grian, i have my doubts of gem, pearl or joel having anywhere near as much association with hermitcraft if any at all considering his long time friendship with the 3 of them was more than likely 1 of the biggest factors of them being part of hermitcraft

Really liked this special kind of episode. On the last question about education I think you are a great teacher (maybe not in academia but life) you always answer questions in a way that helps people think about something again and maybe consider a different viewpoint.
You know what's an interesting coincidence? X's favorite instrument is the guitar, a note block on wool makes a guitar sound, and this season he's part of a pack of wool selling wolves. He's basically selling part of his favorite instrument. I'm surprised he's never made a guitar themed wool shop before?

The answer to the history question is something a lot of people could benefit from thinking about. I think it's possible to demonise and condemn to the point of dehumanising the people that carried out the worst atrocities, and when you no longer see them as people, you no longer feel that you need to concern yourself with how ordinary people were coerced into enacting evil. If you don't know, how can you be sure it isn't happening to you?

There is also the fact that most people want to be "part of the group" as well. This would make people follow along even if they don't necessarily agree with the group as a whole.

Yeah that's why I hate when people say Hitler or Stalin were "monsters". They're not monsters, they're people, and if they weren't there, another would have taken their place, and maybe even been worse. It's about ideology, social context. It's not limited to one individual that somehow just by being "a monster" applied his ideology to society

14:01 To address this comment... No, using leather or gold does NOT fix the pumpkin overlay issue... Because armor doesn't support custom model data. The reason they use pumpkins is because you can give them custom models and put them on your head, and it will render the model on the player's head. You can't do that with armor or mob skulls because they use a built-in entity model rather than an item model like the pumpkin (as an example, if you remodeled a helmet, its item icon would use the custom model, but it would just look like a normal helmet on the player's model).
@akr4s1a

It's unfortunately something Mojang could easily fix, by not having the armour model data hardcoded.

22:33 I don't really play guitar, nor do I play any instrument but I tried to learn guitar for a short period of time, couple of years back and even today I can say that the feelings I felt while playing the intro for the Hunting High and Low song never faded away. That Ender Pearl throw onto a newly grown tree was GENIUS!
Grian joining HC was maybe the best thing the server ever had. He makes such amazing stories, but also just amazing collabs, minigames and much much more! Every Hermit that's in the server was a GREAT addition to HC! Love all of u!
14:58 - 15:46 As a fic writer myself, all this is *very* reassuring to hear. I don’t write anything that would go into the category of “Yeahhh, this trash can be exiled to the dumpster fire that is Wattpad” (“trash” meaning the *weeeiird* shipping that literally nobody in the fandom likes) but I still write about the world of Hermitcraft and the wonderful characters that are in it, and every now and then, I still get those little what-if’s like “What if they happen to see this one day? Would they be okay with how I’m portraying their characters?” and stuff like that. So thank you X for answering this question! This’ll be very helpful for future reference 💜
Love your answers to most of these questions. You seem grounded and well-rounded and another word that ends in -ounded. New respect unlocked.
Excellent! Thank you for sharing, X! Hopefully your break is refreshing! (Confession: I often think of you as wise X the owl from Mr Rogers Neighborhood, and I now think Doom Guy looks odd because you're an owl in my mind's eye.) Lol
Fo the motivation thing, ive always looked it as this: Motivation is when Dicipline meets Desire. You may not always have motivation as your desire can slip away towards other things, but discipline is the key to it. If you love something, even if you want to do something else, then having the discipline to continue is spite of your desires means that motivation will always come back to where you want it, because your discipline has always kept your goal in front of you. I definitely feel that most when I'm doing my game development. Game Dev is not a glamourous job like a lot of people think it is. Its basically just hours upon hours of me staring at 5 words and changing them slightly until what I want to happen happens. I may be motivated about the idea, but its the discipline to stare at that one line over and over that means when motivation hits, my game is right there in the forefront o my mind.
I like Q&A videos, getting to know the creator a little better makes it easier to remember there’s a person behind the screen

Yay! Thanks for answering my question. I appreciate the clarification. I don't really mess with anything outside of the vanilla game, so all the mods and ad-ons are a little over my head. It's nice to have a better understanding. 😌👍
These are always some of my favorite episodes. I love how candid and genuine you are with us. Your response to the person asking about pausing your videos and if that impacts your analytics really shows you're only here for the audience/community, not the algorithm. Thanks for all the years of great content, X!
Even though you didn't answer if it affected analytics, you've helped with the guilt of it possibly happening.
X, it's been a few seasons for me. Had a few kids and now my oldest is into Minecraft and I get to share your content with him, so I'm back to enjoy your creativity and positive spirit. Thanks for what you do brother.
on building discipline: My understanding is that ignoring excuses is a muscle that often needs to be strengthened gradually. Some people have some massive involuntary change in their life, and use that hardship to change a lot. If you don't have that, pick something small you know you can talk yourself into: - always brush your teeth at night - always make your bed - always take the stairs - always check your pockets before you leave a place - etc Do it until it's second nature and you realize you haven't been thinking about it. You don't "have to do it", it's just "what I do" (even if it's annoying). Then add something else small. Jumping to something too drastic can lead to you depriving yourself of something you're relying on by accident, and dropping the habit after a few months when you can't take it, whether or not you know why. (If you try to replace playing games online with exercise, but the games were your main social time, your "noble solo quest" might feel very isolating after a while, for example) The goal isn't to become your perfect self, it's to build a good habit, and you do that slowly. Be kind to yourself and remember that feeling bad about things you did in the past generally isn't motivating. Try to give yourself something to aspire to, rather than just something to avoid.
Thank you for this video and all your content! You were actually the first Minecraft KZreadr I ever saw (one of your tutorials) and now I'm following you on Hermitcraft years later! Thanks for all the great content!

Nice, thanks for the vid X! Appreciate you blitzing through so many questions in such a compact format. Would love to have more in-depth answers on certain things, always some follow on questions from answers etc, but this was great. Is this something you think you'd be alright with doing somewhat semi-regularly? In relation to the "how do you stay motivated?" question, I loved your answer to that. I work for myself as well, and man.. discipline is key hey. Some days I just don't want to work, and other days I want to work for longer than I should! I'm still new to this, and working maybe more than I should/less than I should on certain days, and admittedly I'm struggling with finding the balance but I'm also really enjoying the freedom of choice - I haven't been having regular weeks (i.e. mon-fri with sat/sun off) because I enjoy the freedom of choosing when to work, and I find I work better when my head-space is more obliging to me getting stuck into the groove of it all. Ramble ramble... Lots of love and support, chur!
Wish I'd seen the post about questions before hand, would've asked about tips for learning the guitar. I started learning last month and try to get 15-30 mins in everyday. It's been rough so far (my finger tips on my left hand are basically always tingling and sensitive now, like they're recovering from a burn) but also fun. It's grindy but it feels right to me so I'm excited to see how it goes. It was nice to hear about your experience learning the guitar though, even if it was brief. Hopefully I'll catch the next Q&A; I'm curious to see how far I'll get by then and what kind of questions I might have for you. Also, I just really appreciate your outlook on life and your approach. You seem like a really good person, of course I know we only see what you publish which is definitely the best of you, but regardless, the best of you looks amazing so keep on keeping on and I hope life blesses you with everything you've ever dreamed of and hoped for, even if it comes in a different form than you were expecting (as it usually does lol) ❤

When Xisuma talks about his leadership in and around Hermitcraft, I do wish he'd give himself a little more credit. It really does take the community and leadership really is more like stewardship, so I don't disagree with anything he says. I'm coming to learn that the skills needed to facilitate that in any community are extraordinarily rare. I've been getting my license to be a school principal and I've been taking these leadership courses on top of it. The soft and often invisible skills of leadership are not something we teach in schools and are not always picked up "naturally" by people. The fact that Xisuma can play a role in stewarding a community like Hermitcraft, with the support and stewardship/leadership of others as well is a notable feat and I hope Xisuma recognizes that, because those skills are something special and worth teaching others and reflecting on.
I really liked this episode. I watch several of the hermits, but i don't usually watch streams or second channel content- so the occasional q&a or story episode like what Rendog did are very cool for me. It adds depth to the server that i really appreciate

its nice to hear that your favourite on screen moment was the season 3 dragon fight Season 3 and 4 are my favoruite seasons, and still influence how i do minecraft today The earlier seasons are underrated (although that doesnt take away what grain has done) It may not be as polished as modern hermitcraft, but the first 4 seasons added most of the things that made hermitcraft, hermitcraft although i would like to re-ask a question 15:15 "Also side question- what are the preferred pronouns for you/your character(s)?" You answered "As for pronouns, i dont really care for them much, you can address me however you like, and thats fine" - which is great that you are progressive and arent defensive of the topic, but you did kind of give a non-answer (although everywhere uses he/him for you, so it is kind of a non-question, but i guess its asking for confirmation) For example You may be fine with whatever, but if someone refered to you using she/her, you may get confused/startled for it being unexpected (And based on your reaction to grain calling you X-i-zoomer-void, in season 6, that another comment pointed out, my guess might be correct) and my point being, even if you wouldnt be offended for someone using the incorrect pronouns, you can still have prefered pronouns So "what are the preferred pronouns for you/your character(s)?" or more accurately, could you confirm your pronouns
@the_luna_lily6234
21 күн бұрын
One more thing: my interpretation of they/them If someone says they're pronouns are he/him, she/her, she/they... etc, basically anything other than they/them We can/should be able to assume we are allowed to use they/them as a safe backup word as well Unless someone specifically asks to not be called using singular they/them - So basically, when saying pronouns, unless you're pronouns are they/them, or requesting not to use they/them, you dont need to worry about mentioning your thoughts on they/them
