Jason - I’ve followed you for years. IMO, this is your BEST and most informative video to date regarding gear you carry. Very polished and professional, plus I always appreciate your candor. I don’t always agree with everything you carry, but I do agree with 90%+ (and I know you’re good with that) and I ALWAYS learn something new from you videos. Keep doing what you’re doing, brother! Tasco is what I had for years in a 12X25 that due to how cheap they can't focus as close or as sharp as some 12x25 Bushnell from 1970 my dad got in 1989 from Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo. Now I have 8 -25x25 Yes adjustable Nikola model from the 1990's that were my Grandpas, he had a bunch of different types of binoculars due to his poor eyes and some were just smaller under 7X25 models for reading things like Menus at restaurants or signs when his eyes did not get worse then they were. I tried to give the Tasco to my brother who has a beyond cheap model of Tasco he does not like, but he won't due to the grip issue, part. Only reason I have the Tasco cheap model is the weight for one thing and the fact I can most of the time use the model over my glasses.

My mystery ranch is soaking today. My elk/bear pack when I’m not sleeping on the mountain has most of what you pack. I’ll be adding the toilet paper for tracking, not doing business, those honors I have always enjoyed baby wipes. A few tacks too. I’ll replace my emergency shelter/army poncho and rain gear with my range jacket probably. When your in shape like you are and you have great packs, weight isn’t as big of a factor. Thanks for the tips and the reminders

@@SamkoTradBow Yep I have noticed with my latest bow that bought new 54 inch recurve that is a really nice bow for just under $200 with taxes, was nearly $180 new and then some of the old all fiberglass bows of the 1960's --1970's like one I have used before an old we think late 1960's early 1970's Ben Person Super Jet as height 62 inches and shape match and that I used and is now my brothers, can be pushed around in the wind more then your Compound or takedown bows due to being a one piece over others that have extra parts to add weight to them. Though true some one piece bows have some mass to them like the Targetmaster or some of the Root Target Longbows including the early Targetmaster before 1957-1958 when it became a static limb recurve or a Static limb reflex deflex.

I use a Green Light an old Cyclops that is a dumb camo color hat clip that takes the CR 2030 batteries. I have an ability with my regular headlamp to take it to green but when I do that one feature is hard to get out of. I like green due to keeping night vison best with the best ability to see with the night vison, red is not bright, then how it fits, and the hat lamp can come off easer for hand trailing if need be just be slipped off not like my headlamp that I need to work the light off my head. Small handheld I do not like as I ether loose the thing or they have died/exploded on me with cheap ones. If I could find easer a handheld or a headlamp that uses green light and is easier to switch into or out of the mode, I would 100% get one of the two items. If Running though that is when I would want the standard headlamp to help see color when doing the running, especially on trails as I did at one point when a good headlamp was in the late 2000's 30 lumens and was around $120 to $150 and most were less lumens at that price. Also my headlamp uses batteries and I am not a fan of using rechargeable unless they are a type of rechargeable that the battery pack thing can be swapped out, like some of the RC Cars on the car side or older style flip phone, most headlamps are not that type., and if you mean rechargeable battery then yeah go for those but most to me are crap as in die quick now and they change up the style of the battery so much they can't work with another of the newer model from the same exact model line of the rechargeable battery.

The old Camelbak MULE LR 100 oz or as in my case older version in the older no name 100 oz were amazing packs, I used a one for ultra running in red for a year and will still use for bad weather/longer runs-ultras, that I have since added some discontinued water bottle holders from Ultimate direction for races that the ass decided to make the race cup less for the sports drink or flat soda. At the one 50 miler I did as part of the Black Hills 100 Race set in 2013 or 2014 last year they did the they screwed me using only cups for the soda and I was not allowed to somehow was in the rules for the food station director. The never told the rule to us runners that dumping out the soda and trying to get the sports drink was ban as was ban asking for 10 seconds of sports drink in the liquid bladder. This was a year or two before getting the very quickly discontinued Marathoner for ultras with more stops/less weather changing longer runs but funny thing is Marathoner got copied by 2--3 companies (one is the as a not quite as good knockoff even in one case down to the color in one of the three options and the only option worth taking as the other 2 color they had more mistakes on the Quality Control and do not use a softer fabric for a part of side edging you want it. Looks like most of these knockoffs of the model I have have been changed to work not nearly as well with them. Now a new model from Sharkmouth that is very close to the Camelback Marathoner that has one feature I wish the Camelbak Marathoner had I added to the Camelback with an outer strap to hold a small windbreaker and 2 that did not need fixing with one fine and useable with the fix and other worse with the fix. I wish the MULE in the older models would come back or some other even cheap nock off brand would make a similar pack. Closest models I know of is the Tadpole from Outdoor Products that is really not that close, or The Velocity by Camelbak an old model that has been updated since the 2000's not now be the good replacement for the MULE 100 oz model but still not great.

If I needed a GPS for location I would carry one too, they are some of the best and with how piss poor cell coverage can be with most brands in South Dakota outside of a city of 10,000 people or more sometimes even in parts of those cities yeah you need the GPS. They have smaller units now like a GPS Sports watch but more for hikers, however the price of these are so high, what I would get the slightly bigger ones do work better and bonus they have the models made so it is easier to put in waypoints on some of the off path/rough path hiking ones.

@@SamkoTradBow Yes if you have the right GPS As they for one can do it better then a Cellphone always with the features as you are using a better device that is using GPS Via Satellites and as long as you can get 3 Satellites on the item it will do a better job, due to having more then one location. I noticed this when running those who use a phone for the distance/elevation numbers and those who use a Satellite that unless in beyond dense forest like an all tight packed cedar and bush plants spot, that the trees a GPS will work better then the cellphone apps in these spots.

Also in a hunting capital South Dakota though not enough trees/brush outside the Black Hills for the flagging tape I hate seeing the person using especially in open flat land where one can get lost, the spray marking stuff since that lasts for 2--3 years before it is gone if sprayed on post, gravel a smaller pear Cactus or the few trees in the area or they used the taller of the wire flags with the dumb nylon flag in florescent pink, hunter orange, or neon green and those take about 3-5 years for the flag to go away into tiny pieces then the wire up to 10 years. Using the second if the grass was not too tall What we did when tracking with Riffle was use this pink string made of dyed cotton and the wire post like thing that the flag people used if we needed to use something at all and rarely did only using if we had to mark a blood trail that was getting thin we would maker the last blood of that. What we did use when we could on a post or wire fence was T P or napkin and one time some paper. I did not want the ripping sound but we had no choice with the napkin as T P was low or paper.
