i appreciate your videos. i definitely agree that a stiff rope makes climbing much easier/safer. i do prefer using a prusik with a tender, i generally go by the rule of 50 percent for bite and 70 percent for sliding for choosing the smaller diameter for the prusik, because the prusik is doubled you end up with a system that has very limited strength loss assuming they are tied and dressed correctly. on my non-adjustable side i use a figure eight on a bite thats then tied to my saddle with a cows hitch. i tend to prefer less hardware for hunting and will run a set up similar to yours when doing tree work. thanks for showing there is more than one way to be successful, even your old set up did the trick.

Love this video. Just ordered the same carabiners that u use. Was going to order the rope but they only sell it in 100’ section and up. I just want six feet. Went out to my garage and noticed I have that same size stiff rope that came with large magnets used for magnet fishing. I got two of them at a hundred feet with massive magnets for the same price. One rope can sacrifice six feet. Just gotta die it black. Stiff rope is the key! Thanks again for the tips

Put the tail end of your lineman’s rope through the carabiner you have right there on the end of your lineman’s where a prusik would be and you have a tender for one handed adjustment. I use a catalyst hitch 6mm Beal Jammy. It’s as strong as your lineman’s cord.

I would not use the ripeman for a slack line fall restraint. I would trust knots more than something mechanical. So I've a 8.5mm rope tied to my harness with a figure 8 knot that always stays attached and then I tie the other end around the tree at desired length with a bowline knot

  • @Deerpoo22

Too supple for use as a lineman's. Ropeman is butter smooth and quiet. 11 mm is the perfect size. Since 2017 I've must of climbed 150 trees. That linesman's saved me more than once. I am no expert but from what ive been researching about the ropeman 1 is that its an ascender and not a fall arrest system so if you were to fall, the teeth in the ropeman 1 would bite into the climbing rope causing it to de-glove the rope and likely cause it to snap. I was really bummed since after seeing your previous videos I went out to REI and built a linesman's belt but now I'm questioning whether it is safe or not. Wanted to know your thoughts on these claims and if they are valid concerns or if it would be a non issue due to the application that its being used for as apposed to using it in your safety line?

I would not use a ropeman for a slack line drop like a tether with slack in it(although many people do and have fallen with out any problems or issues). But I have fallen a few time with my lineman belt and not even a mark on the rope. with it being used as a lineman belt your body will absorb the impact when you hit the tree cushioning the blow. there have been many people that have fallen with a ropeman lineman belt on and never had any issue with it hurting the rope. there are also a buunch of similar systems out there know like the kong and the ropeman 2 that with with much smaller diameter ropes and never have a problem. I 100% trust a ropeman one on a lineman belt all day every day. I have even used it to hang off of roofs in my pressure washing business for over an hour adjusting up and down the rope while free hanging and never even a mark or the rope. The lineman belt is the most important piece of gear there is for a tree stand. more important than the safety line when you are in the stand. over 90% of falls happen going up and down the tree. i have slipped steps a few times when using the square tube steps of the old steel climbing sticks in the rain. The ropeman one saved my butt a few times. now my ribs, crotch, stomach, chest and face got pretty beat up, but i was safe and able to keep hunting thanks to the ropeman!

@@SamkoTradBow Absolutely. I actually just ended up replicating your exact setup for the linesman's belt from the previous video a couple days ago. Now i'm working on building the safety line harness that you have shown in previous videos since I loved the idea
