Ha! We call that concept 'Hausmannskost' in Germany. Isn't it interesting, that not only the word is similar (which is often the case with Swedish and German) but that there is a specific term for this type of food/cooking in the first place?

Wow, I never knew this! That's crazy and lovely that we share this term 😍 x

In the Netherlands we call it 'dagelijkse kost' which translates to daily meals. And it's a similar thing, just household style cooking
Ahhh YESS I love Swedish food. It’s so cute to hear you speak in Swedish too, thank you for teaching us the names and the meaning behind them 💕🇸🇪
Hi Malin, that potatoe pancake is exactly like the Czech bramborak, we put also garlic a marjoram. I make mushroom & spinach filling to go with it. Worth giving a try 😊

Hi. In Poland we also have potatoe pancake "placek ziemniaczany". It' s grated potatoe with a bit od flour and spices. We also add garlic, onion and marjoram to the batter. Then we it either sweet or savoury. In some versions we put minced meat between two layers of the batter. I like it with sour cream and sugar or with plain tomato sauce. My mom sometimes makes mushroom sauce. You can also eat it with stew made of tomatoes, red peppers, chunks of meat and vegetables.
Awww! Your sweet visitor is adorable!
I am writing from Wilmington, NC USA. I so enjoy your videos. Thank you for the time and energy you put forth making them. I've visited Sweden once and Finland many times; this video was nostalgic for me. So lovely. Thank you!

Elizabeth Crawford I am watching from Wilmington also! I also love this channel!
In Estonia, we make the cabbage rolls with mince meat combined with half-cooked rice and that makes a quite firm filling. My granny used to brown the rolls in the frying pan with butter before putting them into oven.

Did anybody else feel serenaded whilst watching her cook with the piano playing in the background?
This video is giving me Christmas vibes and I just love it 😍
YEEESSSSSS thank you for taking my suggestion of showing us more Swedish dishes (vegan version of them) I am so happy to be learning about that!

Malin! Beautiful video as always. I'm definitely going to make this potato pancakes as part of our meal plan for the next couple of weeks, thank you for the inspiration! ✨
Wow, these dishes look so delightful! I’m always brighter after watching your videos. Thank you for sharing food from your culture :)
I absolutely loved this video - very cozy, vibrant and very inspiring! Thanks for making these videos. I am moving to Stockholm next week and have been checking through the internet on living vegan in Sweden and all the vegan Swedish foods. Glad I found your channel. Please post more of these wonderful recipes. And thanks again! :)
As an Estonian I have a soft spot in my heart for Swedish food as it has had a lot of influences on Estonian cuisine. And you really can’t go wrong with young potatoes(seasons first) boiled skin on and then add sea salt, butter and chopped dill and then cover it with creamy mushroom sauce (fried wild mushrooms in butter with salt and pepper and then covered in cream)-it’s my all time favorite and have it every summer the moment you can get those potatoes. I’m already excited for this year!
The cake looked so so good! Made me crave some chocolate :D I am also in love with the whole Fika concept as it truly shows us how important social connections are. Just a beautiful way to spend time with some close friends or family, as food and drinks are always fabulous additions to chatting!
I absolutely loved this swedish edition Malin!! The cabbage dish looks soooo yummy! It's winter in Sydney so I will give it a go!
The cake looks so good! 😍 Thank you for this amazing video ☺️xx
I always love that some words translate almost exactly to German. In Austria and Germany it's called "Hausmannskost" as well :). Also I always sit on the floor infront of my couch as well. My couch table just has the perfect height
Such a pleasure to watch your beautiful videos! I've been to Sweden a couple of times (as a vegetarian back then), so this brought back memories 😋 keep up doing the great work and greetings from Luxembourg 😉
i get so excited when I see your videos! So humble and honest and real. Much LOVE AND PEACE from upstate NY. Stay safe and just be yourself. we adore you
Lovin the look of that potato pancake! I’m really impressed with your recipes they are different from what I’ve been learning here in America. Nice to have the variety!!
I love this! I stayed with a close swedish friend in stockholm back in september and I loved the breakfasts we prepared together. the bread with butter, cheese, and cucumber and a side of yogurt and fruit was something we had every day! back in the US i’m sorely missing the oatly yogurt
The shot of the pre fika love ( you and that beautiful black greyhound on the couch) looked like a work of art. You really are so talented. ❤️
You are appreciated, Malin @Good Eatings. Sending you hugs from Scotland 🏴 🤗
Malin 💛I haven't watched your videos in a long time for some reason (my bad!!!) and oh my gosh I'm so in awe by the quality and the effort you put into them! 😭now that I'm trying to start posting regularly on youtube myself I'm even more amazed at your work. Sending love! xx
I'm going to give this a try for Christmas. It looks amazing.
Your videos make our day .. thank you for coming into our lives with your videos 🌈☀️🌻🌸🌼
Greetings from France :) And thank you for one more lovely videos. I always feel good after watching your videos... it should feel this way after all KZread’s videos, but it is definitely not the case ;)
Hi Marlin! Always soooo nice when you share a new video! Sending you lots of love from Hawaii 🌱♥️
Thank you so much for sharing vegan versions of Swedish dishes. They all looked amazing! I would love to try that last dish. I have a gravitational pull for labors of love in the kitchen. I never thought to call it “kitchen meditation”, but that’s a great way of putting it. I’m past due for a little of that because I’ve been moving around a lot lately. In the meantime, I like this concept of “fika”. I just might have some tea, and I do have a vegan cheesecake that is downstairs in the fridge. Fika sounds lovely. Thanks for the video! 😍
Great dishes Malin! The potato and cabbage dishes so reminiscent of my Hungarian childhood 🥰
Hi there, you are inspiring love ur content ✨✨✨ I wen straight to the market the next day to get the ingredients after watching the yogurt bowl breakfast. Love♥️♥️♥️😊
Your recipe is happiness itself 💕
You're so lucky there. Where I'm from, vegan cheese, butter, creams and yogurts are not accessible. Some brands are available in health food stores but they cost an arm and leg. I've yet to taste Violife but I have had Daiya! Lol. I always look forward to your videos because they are so well made ❤️
Recently found your channel, and I really love all of your receipes so far! You seem like a lovely person and your dishes look super creative, yummy and balanced. I'm not vegan but I'm always interested in trying out vegan dishes and finding yummy and plant-based alternatives. I think your channel definetely also inspires not-vegans to try out vegan meals! Thank you for sharing :)
Everything is so delicious, especially the lunch! Thanks God, I found your channel :)
Yum, those potato pancakes look great. I never thought of that, but seems like an easy dinner idea!!!
Yum, must try this. We make a similar cucumber salad but we add sliced white onions as well.
Every dish looks fantastic!
I just came accross your channel! Lovely atmosphere and recipes I definitely want to try! Thank you :)
Hausmannskost in german 😀. Thank you so much for veganizing these recipes 🌸🥰!
I'd love to know what type of tea pot you use, it's so lovely. All your videos are so inspiring, thank you for sharing your love of vegan food.
lovely recipes! i love how you don't have to do any straining for the potato pancakes
Watching in June and having January vibes hahaha! I love your Swedish edition this time!
Violife is so good! I live in Sweden, (I’m not native) so watching your videos really help me get ideas of what I can get here 😊
Potato pancakes are one of my comfort food from my childchood. In Poland we traditionally serve them with pork stew (a lentil stew will do) or sour cream and I think cashew cream with lemon would be a nice alternative. I must try it. Personally I love them plain, served with sauercraut. Yours look soo yummy. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love your videos !!! ❤️
Åh 😍 Den här videon är en av dina bästa! Kul med svenskt, ser gärna fler såna videos i framtiden. Är inte vegan själv men följer dig med stort nöje för att få in mer grönt i vardagen 🤗
Extremely relaxing , thank you .
Love your videos 💚 so well filmed and edited, and the recipes are always so delicious 😋 I absolutely love crisp bread with vegan cheese and cucumber or tomato, in Israel we love our light cream cheese (we call it “white” cheese) and we have a vegan version of this too :)
Remembers me of the „Hausmannkost“ of my childhood. I‘m born in Germany and live there since then, but my parents come from Poland, and there is a quite similar potato pancake that my mom made for me as a kid, with a cream cheese with onions, or apple sauce or with my favorite as a kid: cream cheese with sugar and raisins 😍 that cabbage rolls with mince is also a childhood recipe for me. My mom made these, fried them up in a pan and then transferred it to a baking dish and cooked it in tomato sauce in the oven. And as always we have eaten them with mashed potatoes. I never „veganized“ them, but I probably should 🤷🏻♀️ thank you for sharing and taking me back to my childhood 😊

Travel4Taste I loved the polish food, sad that so many recipes included meat... but some of them go well without it 😊 I love the soup with fermented cucumber and the sour dough soup and the sauerkraut stew goes as well nice without meat. I don’t speak polisch, so I can’t write the original names of the dishes 🙈 greets from Karlsruhe ❤️

@@gruschls ah yes, i kbow all of these very well. My polish grandma cooks super well 😂 I'm not vegan but definitly try to move (and push my family along) towards plant based diet. So often i make polish specialities (like pierogi or the potato dumplings-i made videos of) but i simply skip the meat 😂
Swedish food looks so cozy, perfect for winter (it's winter where i live!) We have our version of the cabbage rolls here, typically served with mashed potatoes and tomato sauce, but your version seems much more interesting! We don't have lingonberries nor cranberries tough...
When I read the title I thought you made a video in swedish. That would have been so cool! But I also liked seeing typical swedish dishes.
Great video, I love kitchen meditation and something to eat that is so nourishing. I must ask what the triangle tatoo on your finger means if you are happy to share. Really enjoyed learning a little about sweedish food. Stay safe and well. X
Where I'm from, we call lingonberries partridge berries- I love them so much. Every time I go home, I have to get some to make jam. It's something I truly miss from my home province
yummmm it looks soooo good✨
In Germany it's called Hausmannskost and it means traditional food mostly containing alot of meat. Making it vegan always gets me nostalgic as well (: especially the filled cabbage I will definitely try!!
Åh så mysigt video! Kul att se som svensk också haha! Har nog dock aldrig ätit kåldolmar och vet knappt om jag testat raggmunk heller, föredrar alltid rårakor! Så ska definitivt testa kåldolmarna! x
So nice to see Swedish dish 😍 greetings from France 🇫🇷
In Poland we have a similar stuffed cabbage concept! Although the flavours are completely different, it is also a delicious winter-y meal which reminds me of my childhood- my grandma always made it :D And you know what? I feel like I want to try the Swedish version at some point as well- it looked absolutely fantastic!
So nice to see you publushing much more often now 😊🤗 do you have a fixed schedule? Greetings from Munich 💚

Oh myyyyy those cabbage rolls look amazing!!!!
You can feel how much the camera man loves her through the style of videography 🥰
You should make a compilation-video of just sifting dry ingredients into bowls. It's the best part! (Greetings from Denmark!)
I will definitely try this. I will either use cranberries which I have or buy lingonberry jam which I think I can get at Ikea.
So nice to see another of your videos and this time with a typical Swedish twist. So you don't dry the potatoes for the pancake? you keep the juices in the mixture? All the best from France!
Everything looks so great
I am in Australia and I think that is the same "butter" that I use@ I LOVE it and, like you, over indulge because it is the closest taste to dairy butter that I have ever found :D
In Belgium we say ‘boerenkost’ (peasant food) which means cooking like in the old days, very heart fulling meals full of meat oils and potatoes. Meals that would fill the old farmers for long. We vegans are definitely not a fan of ‘boerenkost’ 😅
The Naturli vegan butter is real good. I a super happy it is actually available in my country as well :D Also, I have seen the epic mature somewhere around me and was wondering if it is worth trying...good to have your advice! Especially that cheese + cucumber is my childhood combo as well ;P But I am definitely jealous about the yoghurt! Oataly is not available in Poland and we only have relatively average plant based ones ;P Maybe one day!
Made the chocolate cake and turned out very yummy 😋 hope it defrosts well as it’s only me so I froze it!
I never considererd putting a cream sauce on cabbage rolls but I will try it.
That's so cool to see other cultures' food :O
The stuffed cabbage rolls are also a very polish dish but we put mince and rice inside and boil them in thick tomato sauce! I love making them vegan! Fun fact they are called ‘gołąbki’ which in straight translation means Pigeons 🕊😅
Love the video.
I feel like each European country has its own hearty potato pancake dish ;D In Poland we have a version of it as well and it's name is also connected with men, who usually worked real hard in the past and thus had to eat a lot XD And I must say, your version looked absolutely fantastic :D Would happily try it! P.S. Ikea is great in terms of food, and there is nothing to hide about it. We all love it ;P
All your videos are lovely, but this is even lovelier than usual.
Yes, Naturli' is the best :)
I want to try vgetarian verison of cabbage rolls for a while too. :D And lingonberries are great! I'm form Latvia and we have them in froests too. I like to just boild them even without sugar - they keeps well that way too. Lingonberries have that great sourness and bitterness together, that goes well with savory and sweet dishes too. Combines well with sweet desserts and cakes too. :))
Man you guys get all the good Oatly products! Here in the US we only just recently got Oatly milk and it's so expensive lol.
Hey Malin! I will move to Stockholm soon. Could u give me some tips where to eat? I heard about Mahalo or Vaxhuset etc but I would like to know what do u recommend:) maybe to eat some kötbullar
I wish my salt sorta floated in the air like yours! great job!
That dog is so cute 🥰
I absolutely love your teapot! Where is it from?
I never even heard of smoked tofu before, but I love smoked foods so I will have to look for it now. 😊
Hi please could you tell me what and where I could find shallot fond ....that syrupy thing 🤩💓🇬🇧
New sub (: loving the videos !
Those potato pancakes looks great...the doggie is so spoiled
Awesome video, Malin, love vegan and gluten free!
have u ever tried coconut oil for deodorant? it eeally works and its not greasy!!
Ok so I never knew I desperately needed “shallot fond” in my life until now. WHERE can I find it? It’s listed as brynt scharlottenlöksfond in the recipe which translates as “browned shallot onion stock.” They can call it sticky onion sauce if they want I’m just hoping I can find it in the US! The rolls look delicious. Thank you! As always, great taste in music.
Those potato pancakes look delicious, but grabbing 'hold of lingonberries + smoked tofu where I live might be difficult...do you think they'd go well with sour cream, like latkes? (asking as a vegetarian)
It's so sad that we don't get smoked tofu in Florida. Atleast where I live. M dying to taste it 😒. Love your videos 🤗❤
