Just remember, in 40k, a 19mm selfpropelled armor piercing bullet that explodes after impact for deep damage isn't seen as overkill, it's just another bullet.

The human mind arrives at absolutes rather quickly. What I mean by that is: our perception of threat has an upper limit that is rather easily reached. Once thst happens, a perceived threat is regarded as absolute, and the response is accordingly.

I love “it’s not the great band galaxy” You already know, this isn’t the Milky Way, humanity has other galaxies, and they don’t mind jumping around It would be cool that the Milky Way is the only galaxy without life beyond human So humanity just never had to struggle against another species to get control, so it easily became a type 2 ahead of everyone else, then by the time it could jump across galaxies, every other civilization was merely a type 1.5 Enough for humanity to show compassion and respect, but not enough to even be a bump for the humans to cross over
love the ending statement "in short dont piss the humans off" lol
Interesting story. As for overkill, who decides if something is overkill?🤔 Seems to me that the loser probably does. In a conflict there are usually two possible outcomes: win, or lose. When dealing with violent aggressors it's better that they lose and you win. Achieving this sometimes requires extreme measures, but the cost of losing to the violently aggressive enemy can be too high a price to pay, necessitating extreme measures to win.😲

Humans will call something overkill once it reaches the point of redundancy. Like glassing a planet then quarantining it.
Overkill? Nah, we're not going in half-assed. We're making sure we get the job done thoroughly.
Overkill is when you've run out of ammo.

You see, we don't use the quasar laser to destroy things, we make our cats chase it, if we wanted to use it as a weapon, we would need at least 200 of them
Thank you 💙💚❤️ for all your effort & the time you put in when uploading this. It is really truly appreciated 🙏
This was incredible to stumble upon accidentally!

"No such thing as overkill. Just open fire and reload."
This is gona make me look this up, but I remember a story of a naval vessel I think taking small arms fire or was supporting something else on land, and the captain basically said "you see that hill over there?" "Yes, captain." "I don't want to" and shelled it until it was leveled. I want to say it was a U.S. ship but I honestly don't remember any more than that. Gona look it up now lol

As a species we are so oblivious that we even have to create laws to not be too overkill. Imagine an alien learning about human history. Ghengis Khan, colonialism, WW1 &2, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Gaza. 😂 the emperor indeed protects.

Up-scaling a 15 light year quarantine slightly, is a100 light year quarantine. Because if the humans really wanted to overkill, it would have changed from 15 light year quarantine to 15 light year total extermination/destruction.
Patterson! fire a warning shot. sir, this is a grenade launcher... potato, tomato. fire it Patterson.
