What Happens if a Hole Gets Blown in Your Spaceship? Amazing Vacuum Chamber Space Simulation!

Ойын-сауық

In this video I show you what happens if a hole were to get blown in your spaceship by using a a Mylar rupture seal and a vacuum chamber! In Star Wars (The Last Jedi) when a certain someone is launched into space, this is what it would have looked like! I show you with a little Play-Doh figuring then I show you what would happen with a smaller hole and object coming near it like a can of soda and also an orange! This video shoes the amazing damage that can occur when a pressurized space shuttle is suddenly exposed to vacuum.

    In mechanics shops, they use compressed air to power tools. If their air compressor doesn't have enough capacity, they can install an expansion tank to increase the amount of stored air. I think the only vacuum in this system is in the chamber, and a bit in the hose. The possibilities for interesting experiments could increase with a sustained supply of vacuum.

    I predict it could, but it would become increasingly difficult with increasing depth. At extreme depth it would take a pump type apparatus because a human couldn't exert the lung power to inflate it. I also predict it would eventually pop if inflated enough, because despite the pressure outside, the balloon still has it's limits.

    lemonman93 when he draws the vaccum chamber down to 33 inhg, its obviously lower pressure inside the box. Similar condition in a submarine. Low pressure inside, high pressure outside. • @sapphocortez2287

    To vaporize, you'd need heat. This is a case of varying degrees of pressure. There's no pressure in space but oxygen creates pressure in a spaceship. When a hole is made. All the oxygen rushes to the area of lower pressure to try and even the pressure out. You get stuck to the hole and you be sucked out... How many pieces you're in depends on the size of the hole

    You should have used two chambers with the clay doll in the middle of the chamber that's going to stay pressurized until the breach happens between the vacuum and the pressurized chamber. The doll is acting like a plug that's to weak and to small to plug the hole when the breach happens so it will obviously get sucked out the hole by the atmosphere rushing past it. That won't be the case if it's not blocking the hole

  • @seraphina985

    @seraphina985

    6 жыл бұрын

    Well the metal of the soda can should easily be able to handle 1 atm pressure differentials in fact they really need to be able to handle much higher pressure differentials due to the nature of their contents, the high pressures that can be achieved by the carbon dioxide coming out of solution at warm temperatures can greatly exceed that, internal pressures of 280-380 kPa generally can be achieved around room temperature, hot environments like a hot car can bring the contents up to closer to 700 kPa and typically even that shouldn't be enough to rupture the can unless it's defective. Of course if the can was both warm and not empty then exposing it to vacuum might not be such a great idea though still you are only adding another 100 kPa of effective overpressure to whatever overpressure the contents already have at that temperature.

  • @dfpguitar
    @dfpguitar6 жыл бұрын

    it would be interesting to place a cushion below the soda can to try prevent it bursting. That way we could see if it actually deformed as it got sucked through the hole. Also to do the orange with a smaller hole, to see if you can suck the juice through its skin before it's pulled through.
