Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song, William. Extra touching and personal for you, because the song meant so much to you. I am sure your father was so proud of you. Even though you weren't there in person, but you were there in voice and spirit and love. That's what mattered. My father past away back in 2015. My father and I had a deep musical connection. According to my Mom, when I was an infant, only my father's soothing tenor voice singing an old Japanese lullaby could put me to sleep. When I was older, and had learned to play the piano, I would play the piano and he would sing. We were both in our small church choir. He sang tenor and I sang alto... Good times. I missed him dearly. Take care of yourself, William.

Hello William. This is an Irish iconic poem and song, and you paid a great tribute to it with your flawless operatic interpretation ! Fine analysis too. It reminds me when, in the Ormond Hotel in Dublin, Mina Kennedy said "He sang that song lovely. And The last rose of summer was a lovely song" (James Joyce, Ulysses, The Sirens) So, reading the same Ulysses' episode, and with a small variation, I would say : By God, William, you're as good as ever you were. - Better. Most touching rendition of that song, upon my soul and honour it is". Congratulations ! 😊

that was lovely, you have a wonderful voice. The story at the end about your father's funeral was so touching. I have no recordings of my singing when I was in college and it has to be hard to hear yourself back in the day. Even if you were happy with everything about it, today you would probably do something different with it. How nice you have this recording to go along with the fond memories. I love that song.
