That's a plain lie Arabs were a minority in Egypt Egyptians didn't wanna speak Persian, Latin or Greek despite these nations conquering them for long time. But with how nice thr Arabs were to them and how much they loved Arabic language, they decided to learn it. This small amount alone is not enough to force an entire population of Egyptians to change their language to accomodate their rulers. In fact it took Egyptians generations which is around 200-300 years for them to fully change to Arabic/Egyptian dialect. This fact alone tells us that the people themselves wanted this change, no one forced them to abandon their language and religion. Whoever stayed loyal to their traditions are still alive till this day 10% of Egypt's population stayed on the Coptic Orthodox Christianity and they are still freely practicing their religion. If the Arabs were cruel blood thirsty sand warriors then non of them would had survived till this very day and they would have gone extinct like the Pharos have gone.

Claiming to uphold Christian values? Have you ever explored the history of Spain? It was the influence of Islam that catalyzed the Renaissance in the first place. Following the Muslim defeat at the Battle of Tours, Europes civilization stagnated for 250 years. While Muslims constructed hospitals, universities, and magnificent architectural marvels, much of Europe's population worshipped stick figures idols in wooded areas with blue painted faces living like savages. You seem to lack a genuine understanding of the rich history of the Islamic caliphate in Spain, Portugal, and parts of France. Also, Christianiy didn't "invade" Spain when it was an Islamic caliphate, it was a re-conquering because Islam had invades it prior to the crusades against it. If I could name any Muslim country that Invaded a Christian country in the last 50 years, I'd say Azerbaijan into Armenia, the first country that adopted Christianity. That doesn’t make them peaceful people though as the whole Gulf Wars, ISIS, Taliban and African warbands like boko haram or the intended invasions of Israel show. Just because we regard Muslim countries as less civilized compared to western countries doesn’t mean that Muslims countries weren’t actually more civilized back then. You saved a lot of ancient european wisdom that was lost in Europe itself and developed even further on it, which brought Europe back into a golden age after the rediscovery.

The reason why the Muslims of Al-Andalus are considered to be invaders in history is because they acted like invaders. Non-Muslims were literally considered second-class citizens just like the Irish were in British Ireland (which lasted almost 800 years and is considered an occupation, and still technically is when looking at Northern Ireland). In the end, it was called the Reconquista and not the Conquista. Get a clue.

Did they tell you about when the Muslims also kicked the Jews out? Jews were given usury jobs, or things that dealt iwh money because it’s not haram or whatever. Same thing Christian’s did with Jews in Europe, gave them the jobs they didn’t want or weren’t really supposed to do as people of their faith. Muslims protected Jews as long as they paid their Jew tax, otherwise they would either be murdered, imprisoned, enslaved, or forced to convert. Jews also rose to prominent positions in Christian places, despite the anti semetism - same in Muslim Spain. Also Jews enjoyed more freedoms under Roman rule than they did Christian or Muslim

Those same christians by the way were visigoths that invaded the peninsula in the 5th century. They did later convert to Catholicism but not quite, they made countless councils to deal with religious problems and their hate for Jews. There was no such thing as Spain back then. The Visigothic Kingdom went through a civil war and the pretender was ousted by the Muslims, many Gothic elites converted to Islam and "The Goth" (القوطي) remained a surname in Muslim Andalusia.

I’m Spaniard Christian. The Muslims back then did rule is with justice, and gave us equal rights for us along with the Jews. Their architecture is sooo beautiful, like you can even find it in parts of Madrid, more so in Cordoba. Southern Spain is a beauty. They were the reason we had the renaissance cuz they’re left behind books. But yea obv I’d prefer to be under a Christian rule given im a Christian, but can’t brush off their immense impact they had on our architecture food and science and arts

Christianity was never in danger. It’s well known among historians that the “christian persecution” of the early millennia were very much played up to sound like bigger issues than they were. Fun fact: Portugal is in some way the last crusader state to still exist. The first king of Portugal was a Templar, and Lisbon was reconquered thanks to the help from templars from other european kingdoms, mainly England.

He did bestow a lot of privileges to a few religious orders like the cisterian order for exemple, and fought side by side with crusaders of the second crusade. But thats it, he was never related to the poor fellow soldiers of christ and of the temple of Salomon Oh and he had risen to power in 1118. The order was created in 1118, and took years to gain influence. In fact, some of the founders of the Templars were said to be Portuguese (from Portuguese county, before we got the independence). A few points to cover here: 1. Most population in Al-Ándalus were the original hispano-roman population from earlier centuries, the arab-bereber contingents weren't that numerous to represent a change in the ethnic . Although most of the hispano-roman population and visigoth nobles gradually converted to islam. 2. It was the Catholic Kings who expulsed the islamic population (mudéjares) from the kingdom, making it compulsory the conversion to christianity. 3. By the time Phillipp III ordered the expulsion, there were no muslims in the kingdom. The people expulsed (moriscos) were already christians but descedants of old-old mudéjares.

It happened indeed, but it was not an occupation. It was a conquest, yes, similar to the Normand conquest of Britain, by Muslim to Arrian Christian. Then the muslims lived there for 800 years. I repeat, 800 years. And then they were conquered by Catholic Christians who had no relationship whatsoever with the previous Arrian Christians. These Catholics, me being one if them, have lived in the region for "just" 500 years.

Spain and Portugal didn't even exist when those territories were taken. Europe was going through a dissolution of an empire. That separation generated 3 other main ruling states. What , generally speaking, is known today as: - France - Italy - Germany It was during the reconquest that Portugal was founded. Which happened on 1139-1143(officially recognized). Spain on the other hand was founded on 1492.

"Remember" , when the Muslims first invaded the Iberian peninsula in 711 AD, there was no Spain & Portugal yet. those two powerful Christian kingdoms were borne out of the Reconquista centuries later. but keep in mind, it didn't just end with the Reconquista, as the aggressive Portuguese empire then went on the offensive and took the crusading and fighting spirit outside the peninsula into North Africa , where they fought a gruesome 350 year holy war.

Its actually the opposite. When Christians came back, they turned spain into darkness. The Golden Age of spain was during the reign of Islam. So many beautiful poems were created at that time in Arabic, and saying how beautiful it is and how happy everyone live. But nope, chirstians came and ruined everything. I believe there are mistakes in this video. Most importantly, there is no reason to believe that a majority of the people living in Hispania were ever Muslim. In Egypt, conquered by the Arabs in the 7th century, the population is thought to have remained majority Christian well into the late Middle Ages (it is still about 10% Christian today). I'm pretty sure that Spain is a secular country, not a Christian one.

It was called La Reconquista, because of the muslim invasion which held place centuries before it, it was Christian original inhabitants recovering their rightful territory 👍

Matthew Carr wrote a great book on the removal of moriscos in 1609-1614. Fascinating book. Muslim Iberia was an amazing place and a beacon of learning, architecture, and culture. Religiously for the most part they coexisted under Muslim rule. People take their current views on Islam and Christianity and apply then to events the happened almost a thousand years ago. Think about that. A thousand or more years when Muslim Iberia was created. If you ever travel to Spain and see the impact of Al Andalus it's nothing short of amazing. I've been to Granada, Seville, Cordoba and the Muslim impact is a sight to see. Don't judge past religions based on your current beliefs(people leaving stupid ignorant comments)
