What Happened To the Best NBA Guard Never An All Star Mike Bibby! Stunted Growth

Спорт

Today’s feature is a guy that was one of the best floor generals of his generation, and from 03-06, one of the best point guards in the league. Owner of one of the best basketball names in history, Mike Bibby had all star potential, but every year for some reason he always came up short in the ultra competitive 2000s. In that decade, the NBA had probably the best point guard play in history, as almost every team had an exciting point guard carving out hall of fame careers. If you named the top point guards of that era, Mike Bibby would find it hard to even crack the top 15. Not even mentioning late comers like Derrick Rose, Curry, Westbrook and that group. That’s not to imply Mike wasn’t a good player, far from it. It truly speaks to the golden era of the 2000s, for how top level point guards were. There’s nothing it didn’t have. His 2000s conference finals game 5 one dribble pull up I still remember touching only net as he sunk the game winner to put the Kings up 3-2 in the series against the 2 time defending champion lakers, on route to a 3 peat. The ultra light, bald head with a headband guard should’ve made at least 1 all star. Here’s why that didn’t happen and 3 stunts in his growth that overshadowed his career. What Happened To the Best NBA Guard Never An All Star Mike Bibby! Stunted Growth

Yeah, I agree with this. Bibby was a terrific player, universally respected. But the guards in the west during his peak years were insane....Kobe, Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, Jason Kidd, Gary Payton for the early part of the decade, Marbury - Later on CP3 & DWill...And the East had AI, Vince Carter, Jason Kidd again, Young Tmac, Gilbert Arenas, Wade... So I agree, his growth wasn't really stunted...he just played at a time, as you said, when the position was just insanely deep.

Bibby was primarily a spot-up shooter. The Princeton style offense didn't require a PG to drive and dish or play much pick and roll, so his assist numbers weren't as high as they could have been (and Divac's assist numbers were high because everybody passes the ball in this kind of scheme and he was a perfect center for it). Bibby's remembered because he was insanely clutch.

Thank you so much for making this video. I've been waiting for this one. Another very underrated player that I would love to see a video on is Shareef Abdur-Rahim. I am from Vancouver and those two along with Big Country that you already made a video about were our "Big 3". Abdur-Rahim made 1 all star team but looking at his stats, I truly believe had he been on some better teams that he would have been much bigger than he was.

Bibby career wasn't stunted. He was unathletic, inconsistent shooter, slow footed on defense and was always a product of the teammates he had. He was a 2nd tier player in the NBA maybe even 3rd tier. Typical serviceable guard. He wasn't gonna perform better than he did.

He stood out enough in my opinion as being a solid point guard, he could run the team, create for his teammates, shoot at an elite clip, play off ball, and hit clutch shots. The west was just stacked with good point guards but Bibby should’ve made an all star team at least once.

I think he wasn't a All-star PG even at his best. He was more scoring guard on a good passing team. Most PGs in that ERA ran the show 8+ asst consistently..Bibby, was a jump shooting guard playing in a great system for his skill set while he was with the kings. He would be better in this era. He wasn't ever really a traditional PG. Big shot taker/maker. His time with the Grizzlies, although they were a terrible team. His numbers weren't crazy. The best PG to not make the allstar team is Rod Strickland, the current labelled PGS in this era, is the best era. Appreciate the video. I remember Bibby more for his MJ PEs than his ability to be an All-star level player
