Wrong. Lady Saw also came out in the late 80`s. Patra started in the late 80`s as well but wasn`t really known until 1993 until her first album dropped. Lady Saw was hot instantly when her first album dropped in 1994. Saw brought women`s DeeJay-ing on the map. Patra was the first to try to crossover and add rap with Reggae though.

She runs a jerk spot in Stony Hill. Went there and the food was scrumptious. She even gave us free soup for waiting for long which wasn't her fault as one had to preorder. We just turned up. Glad to see Patra seems to be doing well. At this point, she really doesn’t need to make any new music because I think it would tarnish her legacy. Artists need to realize when their time in the spotlight is up. If she wants to do a few gigs here and there then that makes more sense. Not sure many people are eagerly awaiting a new Patra album 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@sw9113 thanks. I’m puzzled about what I said that makes me “a jerk.” She’s a dancehall artist and dancehall caters to a younger audience. It therefore follows that 20-30 year olds, the major demographic for this genre, are probably not going to be interested in a 50 year old woman releasing and performing new music. They want people who are relevant to them. Not someone who had music out before they were born. No one likes to admit it, but there’s a season for everything. Most runway models careers end by 30, with a couple exceptions. No one is going to cast Betty White as a love interest in a romance movie. There’s a reason record companies, movie studios, advertisers, etc are focused on age demographics. That’s who moves their product. The music industry is a BUSINESS first. You can disagree all you want, but it’s a fact and I didn’t make the rules. #okbye
