You may be right. I have heard of that Beenie Man from Yellow Man. And in that song he mentions that he goes to "Charlie" Smith high which is in that Arnette area. I should try to get in touch with him. Please send a link if you can.

Just started watching. Risto Benji was actually more popular child star and had songs recorded on king jammys label that were hits. "Gimme the money" on the punaany riddim and "don't pirate it" on the same riddim that Pinchers sang Agony. So he wasn't supposed to be left out. RIP Risto Benji 😢

The above mentioned artists except for Jacob "Thriller" Miller, should be set aside for a different feature, not this one. Jacob Miller's first recording was a song titled "Love is a Message". For Coxsone's Studio One lable. He was 13 years old.

Dennis the best ❤
Well documented music reggea legend
Your narratives was on par with this feature. And l thoroughly enjoyed it. But l have to add my 2 cents if you wish. Actually Dennis Brown's first recording was entitled "Occupation". For Derrick Harriott, but was never released. However, the song was rerecorded with the same air, lyrics, melody & rhythm but now titled "Lips of Wine". The song was released in 1972 on an album titled "Super Reggae & Soul Hits" for Derrick Harriott's Move & Groove lable. Songs included: "How Could I Let You Get Away", "Let Me Down Easy". The scintillating ballad "Wichita Lineman", "Changung Times" and "He Can't Spell". Just to name a few. Strange though it may sound, but the song "No Man Is An Island", which was initially thought by many to be DB's first recording, was actually given to DBrown by non other than Derrick Harriott himself. However, Mr Harriott went on an over seas engagement with the intention to record Dennis on his return. But that was not to be, because Dennis already took the song to Studio 1 where the single was recorded, then subsequently the album of the same name.
@jamaicaworldwide
Жыл бұрын
I had that info about the first song. If I did mention it I don't think i had Occupation as the name though. But I think I mention that he did a song for Harriot first then rerecorded it. I think I even mentioned it was something he did often. A friend of mine was also his roadie.
@errolhobson1653
Жыл бұрын
@jamaicaworldwide Yeah, that is indeed so. But he was not the only artist who did that. In actual fact, they often time do as much as 3 cuts of a song. And over time, they release them. After getting accustomed to the first cut, you began to hear the same song with some different features. In respect to the first recording, "Accupation". I'm speaking with authority. Mr Harriot himself told me so.
Badminded likle Beenie man
Blessings💕💕💕💕💕🥰✌🏽❤️
