Thank you for shining a spotlight on her and reminding us of how much she accomplished with her debut. I remember listening to the Rockferry CD when I was 11/12 and being completely transfixed with her sound. What she went through is utterly despicable. I wish her nothing but healing and clarity. A part of me is awaiting a comeback but at the same time I fully understand if she'd prefer to make music on her own terms.
It's unbelievable what she must have gone through and I am deeply touched she survived this!!!

It’s such a shame she didn’t have a more positive experience of the music industry. Seems like a lovely person.

@@jonnyharvey Agreed. I think it was her, Adele, and Estelle that came out at the same time. I thought Duffy would reign supreme. But, it was Adele!

@@atlantidaunderground definitely not a one hit wonder, look it up. But she did come and go in a short period of time.
Great video as usual, Jonny. I hope you don't mind my chiming in as a pop artist who's had the occasional brush with fame. I didn't know Duffy was a SA survivor, and sadly it makes sense - in the post #MeToo-era we've all been learning that it's far more common than it seems, and who knows how many careers were derailed by SA. But even this side of obviously traumatic experiences like that, I don't think big artists get their due credit for not only handling the psychological aspects of fame but also navigating the tortuous politics of the entertainment machine. Most artists just love making music, and dealing with the side effects of success is a different skillset altogether (especially when, as she described, success has a way of not happening at all and then suddenly happening overnight). On the bright side of all this, as of today Duffy still has almost 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Even if she's turned off entirely by the idea of being a mainstream artist, she definitely has a faithful audience who will listen to any music she decides to put out on her own terms.

Thanks for that insight Doda- that’s great to hear she’s still so popular on Spotify cause it’s nearly 15 yrs now since she’s been in the spotlight. And you’re right- SA must have been rife in the entertainment industry. Coupled with the psychological pressure of fame and performing- it would be enough to make anyone want to call it a day.
Great video 👍🏻

Leave her alone to find peace and happiness.

I think that's what she wants.
Maybe a producer and director will make a movie of her life or just create a musical movie casting her as the main star. Look up "The Commitments " movie. Such a Duffy movie could be a success !
Wow, I had no idea!

Ohhhhh mother, kidnapped assaulted no bloody wonder Gordon Bennett
Duffy was marketed as "the Amy Winehouse you could take home to meet Mum." I wonder what her career, and Adele's, would have been like if Winehouse had lived.

Well since Duffy doesn't have one anymore it is a silly argumenta. I mean Duffy may never sing again.
I think she just opened up to get it off her shoulders as she disappeared again probably forever.

To be honest that's what I might have done too. Connie Francis experienced the same thing in the 1970's. Things were never quite the same for her ..........I mean how could they be ?
