Ойын-сауық

Whether he was a taxi driver with a number of wild sexcapades or he was the nervous Mr. Brown trying to teach a class of immigrants how to speak English properly, Barry Evans was a talented and versatile actor who had a promising career. Barry Evans was born on 18 June 1943, in Guildford, Surrey. As a baby, he was orphaned and he grew up in a variety of orphanages run by the Shaftesbury Homes. As a student, his peers and teachers realized that he had acting talent and that he was destined to pursue acting as a career.
Barry Evans began acting in school plays and upon graduation, he decided to move to London to further study acting. He eventually studied at the Italia Conti Academy as well as the Central School of Speech and Drama.
He began his career in the late 60s and worked simultaneously in film and television. While he had a variety of roles, he was best known for his comedic work. His youthful looks, handsome face, and charming demeanor made him perfect for many of the roles he received and he created some of the most popular characters of his time.
He was best known for his role as Mr. Jeremy Brown on the sitcom “Mind Your Language” - where he played an English teacher trying to teach the language to immigrants. He was also known for his lead role in the “Doctor in the House” series and his lead role in the sex comedy film “Adventures of a Taxi Driver.”
But this was not to last and as he got older, Barry Evans career began to decline. And then, it all came to a tragic end…

He was a wonderful actor who exuded warmth and kindness and, of course, he was a total heart throb. I have to admit that I knew nothing of his later life. That was often the way with sitcom stars, they`d disappear only to reappear( or not) several years later, usually after attempting theater or other related roles. Barry disappeared from our screens but his smiling face will be part of the memories I carry to my own demise. It`s so sad to discover that he had such a sad end, he deserved a longer and much, much happier life and career. R.I.P

The original story was that Barry Evans was abandoned as a baby and *nothing* is known about his family. If Barry was still alive today, he could have had a DNA test to find his closest relatives. He became famous and a heartthrob with his role as Michael Upton in _Doctor In The House._ His youthful looks meant he was often typecast which depressed him. RIP Barry Evans. 🙏🏻

It's the nature of Barry Evans' profession. Unless they're Michael Caine, actors never know when their next job will be. Even at the height of his popularity, there were times when Barry had to receive public assistance because he had been out of work for so long. It's a very unstable industry and you're only as good as your last job.

I know he had depression but I don't understand why he would ask a friend to call him back just to cut his phoneline himself if he was going to commit suicide later. The obviously planted aspirin, the stolen items, the disconnected phoneline and lastly, the head injury all lead me to believe it was a murder. There were no sign of struggle so either he knew the perp or he was ambushed or maybe even both. The only thorn here is the written will but if the thief found his will while they were robbing his home, that'll give them the perfect cover up to murder him which is why I think the aspirin is the most important clue here. If Barry died of alcohol poisoning or even suicide, how and why would he have the aspirin spilt near him? I say the thief probably didn't know he'd been drinking a lot and planted it there along with the will to stage a suicide.

Usually, alcohol poisoning happens to people that either do not usually drink (I have heard repeatedly that he was an alcoholic, but that would be too difficult since he had to earn a living as a cab driver) or consumed alcoholic drink laced with 100% pure alcohol. Another possibility would be he was fed the alcohol - at least the excessive amount, though alcohol poisoning cannot stand since it's not the sole finding. Aspirin was a stupid additiobn by the perp, since no such substance was found in his system. it's areal wonder how the authorities let out so many contrtadicting evidence, and then ignore them altogether.

That 18 y.o. certaintly had something to do with the murder. The case should be reopened and investigated using modern technology.

The commentary doesn't mention that Barry played the lead role in the 'Doctor in the House' TV series (ITV 1969).Many of the clips in the video are actually from this series. There were several follow -up series such as 'Doctor at Large' and Robin Nedwell took over the lead role. Robin died aged 52 in 1999 from a heart attack.

Even then, Barry displayed the youthful image that characterized him throughout his career. He was 26 when Doctor in the House first aired in 1969 and yet Barry was asked to play an 18-year-old student. Just two years before, in Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush, Evans was 24 and yet was playing a 17-year-old teenager. Sadly, that youthful image worked against him as he got older. Directors refused to cast him in more mature roles suitable for his age because Barry still looked very young for his age. His youthful image proved to be a blessing and a curse for him.

@@georgfriedrichhandel4390 But that happened with all the actors in both series and movie. Geoffrey Davies was born in 1938, (5 years older than Barry) and would play the 22 year old being 31 (cause he was supposedly doing his freshman year for the 4th time). George Layton was also born in 1943. Simon Cuff was born in 1944. Martin Shaw was born in 1945 and Robi Nedwell was born in 1946. the ladies were at the very same range. In "Here we go round the Mulberry Bush, Judy Geeson was younger than Barry, but certainly not 17! she was 20. Angela Scoular was 22, Adrienne posta was 19. In general, all actors that play teens are quite older, due to certain restrictions and studios require parental consent and sometimes they are present at the shootings of specific scenes. I don't know if it was his 'youthful image' or the fact that he - along with Martin Shaw- were at equal measure the most handsome in general. In "Die screaming Marianne " he acted quite a bit of a tragic character with no comic elements and he was fine. watch the scene where he escapes his almost murders soaked in blood, and his exchange with the girl later. There's also an interview about Barry from that Director (Pete Walker) that is in YT, that says a lot about his character and his behaviour and is very apocalyptic. .

Doctor at Large was actually shown in 1971 but you're right. He was making £17,000 per year when he was doing the Doctor Series which was good money for the early 70s but Evans wanted to become a film actor and doing the Doctor series was very demanding and didn't leave him time to pursue film work. And you are also right in that he later regretted leaving the series when he achieved only limited success as a film actor and was even on the dole for a brief time before Mind Your Language. Barry learned the hard way that in this profession, when you don't know when your next job will be, that actors should accept whatever work they can find.
