Better. They already ruined themselves from the start. The moment I heard about the number of waitress turnovers. This place is beyond salvageable. There is nothing that can be done to save what little dignity (if any) Sami and Amy had left. For anyone that doesn't know, not even Dr. Phillip C. McGraw could get through to Amy and Sami. That's how deluded they are. And yes, Amy and Sami did appear on Dr. Phil, hoping the good doctor can convince the public that they are right.

Using store-bought desserts saves time but does not a pastry chef make. Amy just plain sucks as a cook, and she and Samy deserved to go out of business. Gordon Ramsey knew the only thing he could do was not bother rescuing Amy's Baking Company. Whoever buys up or leases the building that dumpster fire of a restaurant once stood has their work cut out for them because a business's reputation never goes away even after the business itself goes bust.

Three other tidbits worth noting: 1. They admitted the real reason they agreed to be on Kitchen Nightmares in the first place was because they expected Gordon Ramsay to be a 'yes' man and agree there was nothing wrong with what they were doing. Just think about that. 2. At the wrap-up of the actual episode Amy drops several hints that any good rating or word-of-mouth their restaurant got was actually submitted by them using sockpuppet accounts ("We've gotten tons of good reviews, THAT WE DEFINITELY DID NOT WRITE!!"). 3. They showed they have no concept of how online review sites work, believing that Yelp sends out professional paid critics to write reviews for them, and also had some sort of massive grudge against their restaurant, thus meaning all the bad reviews they got were some form of deliberate sabotage.

Back in 2013-14 a few friends and i visited ABC Bakery in Scottsdale after the Ramsey episode. We were leaving a movie theatre in the same plaza and there it was, wasn't even looking for it. We had all seen the show and got so giddy. We walked in and the place was empty. It was immaculate with nice decor, but empty. We just wanted coffee and dessert, just long enough to get the full experience. Amy was in the back, but periodically came out to the pastry display to add things. The whole time she was staring us down. Sammy was extremely welcoming, telling us how he had the best coffee in town, over and over again, He really was hospitable. Amy, on the other hand, had her antennas up and was very suspicious of us. I found the whole experience surreal, yet hilarious and exhilarating - not the part where they charged 5 of us over $80 for coffee and cake though.

This reminds me of one episode, when Gorden asks the headchef to come to his table to tell him how bad his meal was. The chef then asks, very calmly, what in particular he didn't like. Gordon, in that moment, can't think of anything and simple tells him, he's dillusional. The contract also stated that if they quit or got fired, that they couldn't work at another restaurant within a fifty mile radius for over a year. As if they weren't already delusional, what authority do they have to extort their employees, or have any control over them even after they've left? It's not so much the authority, but why would they even bother to care where the person worked next? In some industries, it's not uncommon to have a "no competition" clause in a contract that says you won't work within X number of miles if you leave, but it's usually reserved for industries like hairdressers or personal trainers who develop 1 on 1 relationships with their clients. It's so that if, say, a stylist leaves a salon, it's less likely they'll take all their clientele with them. I was in the restaurant business for over 40 years, and never once heard of it happening. Possibly for a top-notch Michelin starred chef, but not for your average waiter or line cook..

Most businesses Gordon goes to do fail in the end but not because of him. Ive read some of the revisit posts and most of them are because they didnt change, it was all just an act for the time or they straight up ignored all the improvments.

Another law they broke is that they were taking server's tips. Restaurant owners are PROHIBITED from taking server's tips

The fact that they had everything damn near perfect as hell in the restaurant compared to everyone else on the show and the only reason they failed was because they didn’t know how to show basic common courtesy to anyone not even each other 💀

I wouldn't go so far as to say the place was "damn near perfect" except for the nutzo owners. The service was also horrendous, though not the fault of Miranda and Katie, who smiled and tried their hardest to please the customers despite intolerable working conditions. And some of the food looked really disgusting -- especially that nasty-looking burger that drips a huge stream of grease as Gordon takes a bite, and the undercooked pizza dough.

"It's always everybody else's fault that we failed." Absolutely wrong attitude to run businesses. These two criminals bullies are going to keep learning their lessons for the rest of their lives, but I'm sure they will keep insisting they are great people who do nothing wrong and were given lemons in life. These two are the perfect example of what happens when an unmovable object meets an unstoppable force. They will never get their humbling experience - they will let it destroy them to the end.

As an Australian - if you make hourly - you don’t get tips. However - if the tips are going to the boss as he’s acting as a waiter…. Then the tips should be shared by all floor staff - however if the boss is kind and not struggling with the business… Then he should be offering to give tips to his staff

In the US, tips are precious to waitstaff, and woe to anyone who steals them. A boss who does so is especially despicable.
