Gotta admire her tenacity. She just got bodied by a half-orc twice her size while she was armed and armored, mercifully ressurected with 1 hp, still battered, bruised, weaponless and in her underwear, and she still decides to go another round. Yeah, that'll go differently this time lmao.

Because she carries the artifact, the developers tried really, really hard to make sure that you recruit Shadowheart. She can be found in the Nautiloid, on the beach, at the abandoned crypt by the looters, in Druid Grove at the training area, and by the entrance to the goblin camp if you failed to recruit her up to that point. If somehow you never recruit Shadowheart at all, the artifact just shows up in your inventory eventually.

Well you probably just saved me about 5 hours. I have a "kill everybody" save going where I used Lae'zel to kill her while my player character was far away. At first I didn't loot her, but then before I left the grove I grabbed the artifact. Been thinking about going back and seeing what happens if you kill her with a companion and never loot her, but if the artifact automatically shows up... then I guess it's not worth it to go back and try again.

@@mattallred The Artifact gets added to your inventory whenever you'd trigger the cutscene where you can hear the Absolute talking to you either just outside the Goblin Camp as you walk across the stone bridge or crossing the stone bridge that leads into the Mountain Pass.

one thing that I found that was interesting is that if you leave her laying on the beach after the nautiloid, when you go to enter the goblin camp and get mind-control attacked by the voice, she will come out of nowhere and save you with the artifact and say shes lucky she caught up with you.

I believe it's a failsafe in case you didn't get any companions or don't have a full party since she joins right before you enter an undead heavy area.

After leaving her on the beach without waking her up and long resting, I found her at the druid's grove, where she has a whole different dialog exchange with you about how she's surprised to see you alive and how she woke up alone and made her way to the druid's grove seeking shelter. Pretty neat they have different scenarios depending on what choices you make during the adventure.

Inflict Wounds is the highest damage potential of 1st level spells. Its only limit is the touch range, but if you can hit someone with it, that creature will have a bad time.

There's also scenario wherein the artifact suddenly is in your inventory and Shadowheart explains that the artifact has a mind of its own :o. If she actually knows that, why is she bent on having that artifact when no else can exactly posses it without its consent.

I actually did this with my friends in co-op, we were just goofing around, killed her on the ship and stole her stuff, found her dead on the beach , revived her and we refused to give back the artifact which aggros her and we killed her again.

Wow, in my playthrough I just got it randomly and it destroyed the entire plotline where the game kept acting like she still had it and then pushed the fight between her and Lae’zel so far back I only got it after the creshe, so nothing made sense anymore… XD

I pickpocketed it from her and she caught me, told me if I did it again she'd kill me... but she never took the artifact back. Not only had we just met like 10 minutes prior (we hadn't even hit the grove yet), but I was a githyanki... was kinda funny

@@Kryptic245 i'm no professional game designer, but couldn't they simply have had the artifact latch onto you on the beach if you walk passed Shadowheart? There's no way to play the game without either waking her up, or walking past her while she sleeps. Seems like the perfect chance to be like "this thing won't leave you, hm, that might be important later"

Can you keep her corpse and toss her out like a pokemon for the boss fights. Does she earn exp while dead? When you've progressed further in the story and finished the Nightsong quest, does it break her scripting if you res her afterwards?

She will not earn exp because she died before join as companion. So her questline will not progress

I killed all the companions during a Dark Urge playthrough and kept all their bodies at camp as trophies. They stayed there the whole game. Other bodies will eventually become pouches after a few days but not companions. I tried keeping Balthazar and Isobel’s bodies at camp too but they turned into pouches. Kertheric isn’t allowed to be picked up.

You can just murder all of them, but you need to send Gale away or not help him out of the rock. If you kill him, he will explode after two or three long rests and your game will be over

Yep, from what i remember you can do that with most if not all the companions. Obvious spoilers… You can kill Lae’zel when she tries to kill you at camp, multiple ways to get rid of shadowheart with laezel killing her or you giving her away in act 3, astarion stake, karlach can be killed with wyll, wyll can then die by killing mizora, gale can be killed as durge or technically he will leave permanrntly if you ignore his sickness long enough. Halsin can be killed in act 2 if you destroy a certain portal. Jaheira can be given to a certain grandfather of a chosen in act 3. Anyone else can be sacrificed to a certain fishgod.

I yoinked artifact from her when she was unconscious, and it duplicated i think, cause when she woken up she still had it and so did I.

Same. I did it just to see if I could. I thought the game wouldn't let me because it doesn't really make any sense.... I think doing that kills all the dialogue options where you ask her about it.... which sucks.

On my evil playthrough, she died about the nautilus, so she was just lifeless on the shores for a while, until a friend reminded me that rez scrolls do not have a time table, so 4 in-game days later, after the Grove was raised, i rezed her with the intent of doing further evil shit with her in tow

Well i didnt kill shadowheart or not recruit her, in fact she was always with me but eventually the artifact ended up with me anyway. I think it was during that incident where the Absolute tries to claim your party.

If I recall correctly, you can get some of her story information. The artifact was given to her by Mother Superior. It is a gith artifact. She worships Shar. Doesn't remember much. Etc.

Pro-tip: If the person you're fighting kills you, and then revives you, disengage from the fight! It's no longer about you allowing them to do anything, you already lost, walk away.

If you rescue her on the Nautiloid you can pickpocket her while she is unconscious and the game pretends she still has it when she wakes up but it'll be in your inventory and no scripts will force her on you for recruiting later.

I put her artefact from her inventory to mine and now I can't give it back. This dialogue (asking me where it is and why I took it) never occured. When I try to drop it, she just says I can't get rid of it like she doesn't care I took it. And it's stuck in my inventory...

Given it’s such an obvious thing to happen early game while people try things out, I’m surprised it’s still so broken. Like… we all knew about it during all of the Early Access period. It can’t be that hard for them to work out how to make it work in a way that makes sense

But when we come to goblin camp and the absolute call us, Shadowheart will appear from nowhere and save us. She said "you are lucky". Well she's right, we are lucky indeed. I record the video. Too bad companion that joined later didn't have more unique dialogue (for example: Wyll and Karlach). I haven't try with Halsin and Minthara. I will try with them later

Tried this and when I resurrect her she just says lines of dialogue but won’t do anything else

i just send Shdwhrt to camp cuz she got mad about Laezel Frog everytime. And guess what - this crappy artifukt appeared in my pockets. If you try to throw it out or open it in the presence of the Shdwhrt, she simply says "it's useless, I've already tried to do this." No questions, as if it's my problem now. if you poke at this sh*t with Laezel around, she notes that these are the runes of her people and they are very ancient . So it's an important thing.

I did this and killed her with a fire cantrip and she was reduced to a literal pile of ash

So I did this on my Dark Urge play through, except I forgot all about her until completing everything in Act 1. I went back and rezzd her, but she just took off running. I followed her, but she just disappeared after a bit. Any idea if she’s gone forever, or waiting for me in a different act?

I got the artefact randomly, I’m not sure how as I’ve had shadowheart in my party the whole time, then she just randomly talked to me and said, the artefacts chosen you now. Like what, I never even knew I had it, there was no cutscene of me getting it or anything lol.
