    Mixing wise I've felt like for the past 5-10 years that the Sam Smith & Adele style mixes have been the best. Sonically their stuff just sounds like the engineer took their time and the elements being felt are always spot on. Side note: Ali doing Kendrick projects is what inspired me to become a mixing engineer though. GKMC feels like the blueprint for me lol

    I have recently been AMAZED at how incredible the mixes are in a lot of modern Drum N Bass. They have some of the clearest, hugest mixes I’ve heard. Plus, they utilise basically ALL of the frequency spectrum. Not to mention how good it sounds on all systems.

Secondly, Protools is DBZ cause it’s the OG, Ableton is One Piece cause people love it but it’s really hard to get into, and FL is MHA It’s fire but the fans are just the worst!     I remembered clearly in the car waiting for my parents to come back from Sam's Club, I had the music blasting. All a sudden "Best I Ever Had" came on the radio and I never heard of Drake besides Degrassi. Shit blew me away, Im like wait... he's singing and rapping? Who is this guy singing sounding a bit like NEYO on this record. At that moment I knew the game is going to change.

    People forget that we have Hip-Hop/Pop as a genre. Lizzo, Meg The Stallion, Doja Cat, Bia, Da Baby etc. pretty much H&M music. We should just say Hip-Hop and call it a day.

    Serato Studio has had Stem seperation since there 2.0 update in January and the beta goes back over a year. So, FL is not the first. Also Waveform 12.5 has it.

    OT, but asking the community; Do yall send your hi-hats, percs, crashes etc. to the drum-bus as well, or do you keep em separate? saw lots of famous mixers do both, i like the bounce it adds to the hihat, when the kick triggers the drum bus comp. but on the other hand keeping the hats separate lets you saturate the other drums harder without destroying the high end

    I don’t mix my songs but I know people. Mostly I see them having few different buses like Drum Bus , Percussion Bus , Bass Bus if they have more thn one bass used in song.

    I used to include them in the same group, but I just started separating them (bass, kick, snare, rim in one group) (hihats, open hats, crash etc in a separate group) digging it way better this way

    11:49 I still do both but over ten years back this old head told me to stay in my lane cuz Im a singer. In the same asked a dude to ghost write for them. Mind you, Im way nicer than dude.     Not gonna lie. I’ve been pro tools since I bought 10 back in the day but it’s only for recording and mixing. I can’t do production in no other daw than FL. If there was a hybrid FL/Pro-Tools mode it would be game over
