Have you thought about doing a video on how to start a wheeled excavator business? They can be driven on city streets which eliminates the need for buying a trailer. I also learned that they are good for individuals that are unable to obtain a CDL.

Wheeled excavators don't really work in the US like they do in Europe. Most contractors work in a wide enough area that you can't really drive them down the road to the job.

@@DieselandIron Actually, a few municipal governments in the US have purchased wheeled excavators for their public works fleet. I bet demand for them will grow because of climate change and inflation. With their given benefits, they might be the best option for new self employed contractors.

@@sethradspinner Municipalities and road crews are some of the only types of work that will support wheeled excavators. Again, our job sites are just too spread out for most dirt contractors to go out and purchase a wheeled unit to road around to jobs. It just doesn't work over here.

Great video, what do you think about a 11-14 ton excavator that you could pull behind a single or tandem axle dump truck.

As long as you're doing more open lots and you're doing projects like septic fields and basement digs that's a great size machine. The foot print will limit you on the small projects, just go with the 8 ton.

Skid steer or mini ex or compact tractor with a backhoe?Probably looking to mainly do junk removal,light demo work and property maintenance like small lots 5 acre or less mainly clearing underbrush or light logging and stump removal and occasionally bush hogging im in a rual area so not wanting to have a big investment ive got a 1/2 ton and a car hauler but might be getting a dump trailer soon

A skid steer will be your most valuable investment. If you need a small excavator it is easy enough to rent one locally on the cheap. The skid can be used in all of the applications you described and only becomes more versatile as you build your attachment collection.
