What Drug Causes Itching | Pinnacle Peak Recovery | 480-750-1200
So what types of drugs cause itching? My name's Tyler Tisdale. I'm the founder and CEO of Pinnacle Peak Recovery. We're an addiction treatment center in Scottsdale, Arizona. So let's get into it. Opioids. Opioids like fentanyl heroin or prescription medications like Vicodin or oxycodone are notorious for causing itchiness. The histamine release triggered by these drugs is the culprit. Stimulants. Cocaine and meth can cause increased itchiness due to increased circulation and dryness of the skin. Hallucinations. LSD and mushrooms can cause tactile hallucinations which feel like something is crawling on your skin or increased itchiness. MDMA or ecstasy can cause increased itchiness due to its sensory effects though it's less common. Also, there's other prescription medications for anxiety and ADHD that when abused can lead to dehydration or hyperactivity that might manifest as itching, prolonged itching can lead to skin infections and other issues. So it's important that you reach out for help
