Justin has no idea where to throw the ball, he holds the ball longer than any QB in the entire league. The Bears Oline held off pressure for 2.6 seconds which is #6 in the entire league. He throws more uncatchable passes than any QB in the league. If a receiver is not wide open like they were at OSU, he has no idea what to do.

It’s still going to be a risk picking up his fifth year option but really paying 20m for the shot at a franchise qb is relatively cheap. Also, Russ is signed for 1m and no guarantee he will be healthy all season or play good enough to keep the job.

The kid needs a reset, and some self-questioning, too. But he walks into a hostile environement: Russ is out to show he's worth a last mega-bucks 2 or 3 year contract, not to rehab an underachieving #1 pick. JF better soak up as much as he can, work like crazy, and be ready to outshine Russ should he ever get to play. He's now backup, it's a very deep hole to get ouf of.

Horrible trade, the only thing that made the Fields trade workable is Russel Wilson is only on a cheap 1 yr deal because Denver is still paying him. Fields's 5th year option is due at the end of the season, so either they have to find a trade partner or pay your backup close to $25 million.
