Great show fellas! Upside down forks have more rigidity having the slider (thick part) through the triple clamps rather that the thinner tubes. Probably doesn't matter much for little bikes or if you're not turning the bike inside out. I got my Christmas present today, 2 Biker Bits Tshirts!

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year. Thanks for all the ramblings, some of which made sense. Length of the podcast would be great at 60 mins (ish). I like the idea of the "here's the bit for everyone" followed by "here's the bit for everyone who doesn't give a shit what we talk about". Very adult because it's all about making the right choices isn't it. You can choose to listen or not.

1 to 1.5 hours is great for me, but I will listen to anything you put out even if I have to split the listening sessions. I have used a flextail pump for a while and it is hand and fast inflation/deflation of my Sea to Summit mat, plus it's a handy hanging tent light. Merry Christmas Mark, Nay, Angus and Grumpy! Awesome chat, again a great mix of bike discussion & speculation (the ALP 4.0 looks very interesting, and would be a great bike to get new riders into the sport). Let's get out there riding more, Kent, Angus & Mark. I'm always up for it, give me a buzz when you're in Nati. Likewise if anything is going over your way, it's not too hard to blast across to Benders. Re the format, don't second guess yourselves too much, there is a real organic feel to the discussion, which is fuelled nicely by the booze and the odd toke; the style works for Joe Rogan!!! Love it! It's candid, honest, and as other commenters have said : it needs to be said. You're all a very refreshing change from a sold-out media landscape. PS> Mark, I saw what you were up to @ 1:17:21 😆 PPS > Also a great place to sand ride is Beachport > Robe through the dunes and 4x4 sand access track. Best sand riding in Oz, and a great mix for all abilities. Catch ya early in 2024 for some riding and shit talking 😉

Looking at the title, I'd like the mongrel who stole my Himalayan Monday morning to give it back. Like all of us here, I love my bike and I can't think of anything lower. But I refuse to let it spoil Christmas for us. I have a go fund me page and even though I've only just put it up I've got a really good donation to help me replace it. Thanks for all the laughs over the year, looking forward to many more.

My condolences mate, not a good xmas present at all. I Have a himi as well, 2023 model, and was wondering if they were bikes that would be stolen, was hoping not so, now the theft of your bike, has changed the dynamic. Disc brake lock with alarm for me from Monday. When you find the thieving arsehole, remove his balls from him for me, do whatever you like to him for yourself. Hope the rest of you xmas bodes well.

@@ricmoffet6843 I had a 2018 Slate coloured Himalayan, in Adelaide there never seemed to be many of the Slate paint jobs, or if you prefer, the urban camo version. The annoying thing is we were talking last week about the airtags and the Samsung version as a cheap method of tracking it. Hind sight, wonderful hey! I have some insurance but its still a big gap to replace it, hence the mention of the Go Fund Me, she was my only method of getting to work, I'm fortunate enough that I have a loan of my brother in laws spare car but that can't last for too long as he's trying to sell it. Still I got a $500 donation this afternoon which will help, just need to get the link out more to have people notice it. All the best, hope you and yours all have a great Christmas. Jeff Masters.

Cannot fault the sound on this podcast. Don't mess with the settings on your audio mixer! Everything is dialled in nicely. Even the sound between you all is equalised, whereas before ,for example Grumpys voice being lower / deeper would upset the balance between Mark's voice, which tends to go higher, and Angus's voice which just sounds like a whiny schoolgirl with his panties in a twist... mostly. Have a bonza Christmas biker bits mob!

USD forks and RWA(Right Way Up) have 2 major differences... USD fork changes mass to sprung weight. Making it lighter and keeping mass lower , gives better feel and wheel control. Allows better valving engineering ( cartridge valving), less Fork flexing thus better control. Reduces over width at the wheel. RWU forks are cheaper to manufacture, sprung weight is increased. Also have less complications in valuing to achieve compliant travel and feel. I think the biggest change is to the fork flexing due to the point of flex at the clamps... personally I feel RWU still work better than the USD forks ?

Funny that you think the learner situation in qld is odd , cause i think it is odd to let a learner go ride with no supervision just put an L plate and a high vis vest on... is it the same with a car learners ,are they allowed to driver without any supervision too? I like the Q-ride system(not sure if it still exists) where you go to a school for a day course and if you can show that you are competent enough you get your license. And if you have never ridden a motorcycle then you can get training there. Surely that has got to be safer for all involved , unless it's some sort of special high vis vest. And I understand there would be a cost but nothing in motorcycling gets cheaper from this point.

Merry Christmas guys, I enjoyed listening to this one today at work. As for the length, we all know it's not how long it is but how you use the time that counts. 🤣 I reckon between an hour and 90 minutes is the sweet spot. When did Grumpy move to QLD? I got my bike licence in Vic in the 90's and it just automatically transferred over to QLD when I moved up here. No need for a test or anything. That's interesting that he said he had to do a test. I actually think the QLD learner system is good as it gives learners a chance to get experience riding with people who can coach them and give them confidence. I remember when I got my L's, I was let loose with no real idea of what I was doing in terms of roadcraft and safety. What we put new riders through in Queensland is so much better than what I went through back in the day. What NSW do with restricting speed is dangerous I reckon. Living so close to the border here on the Gold Coast, I drove with my kids on their L's over into NSW several times with them and it was shit being restricted to their speed limits well below what everyone else on the road was doing. I've just qualified as a motorcycle instructor and yes, I have seen some people turn up for their RE test having not done any riding after getting their L's. But that was their choice. There are heaps of opportunities for people to ride with others, Facebook and Meetup groups, plus as instructors, we also offer a service to take them out to get experience and get one on one coaching. Anyway, have a great break and I hope you all get out and have some adventures over the Xmas period. Cheers guys! Keep being awesome!

I understand that your podcast and what it's supposed to achieve.. and I know it's hard..but please can we just keep the political dribble to a minimum. I am sure there are far more interesting things to discuss. Like.. you getting a lighter Dual sport bike.. really think when you come away you ride our bikes. You will be very surprised. Seeing your so tall...maybe you add that into your video I think there are a lot riders will see the benifits of lighter and in some cases, faster rides out there. crf300, crf450, SWM RS300/500 etc that will not break the bank
